Why Access Social Care Exists 

Everyday millions of older and disabled people are denied the social care they need. Most local authorities can’t meet the growing demand for care, none are confident they can meet their legal duties in the future. This affects all of us, we will all need social care at some point. 

We all have a right to hold public bodies to account. But most of us cannot afford lawyers so rely on legal aid. The 77% drop in community care legal aid cases since 2010 means we have nowhere to turn. Without access to justice, our rights do not exist. The rule of law is broken. 

What we do 

Access Social Care provides free legal advice and information for people with social care needs, helping achieve a better quality of life. We work with communities to increase knowledge of the law and our rights. We highlight the gap left by cuts to Legal Aid and provide advice for those who can’t afford it. 
With a 98% success rate, our network of lawyers and barristers ensure fair access to justice when things go wrong. We collaborate with social services whilst ensuring legal obligations are met. We are working towards a future where social care is adequately funded, and we all get the support we need. 

About the role 

This is an exciting time to join our organisation. We have a new strategy and are growing quickly including across our senior leadership team. We have nearly tripled in size and income since we started operating in April 2020 and we anticipate that this strong growth will continue for the duration of our next strategic period. 

We are looking for someone with excellent people skills to play a key role in developing and piloting an approach to support people to engage with and use our on-line Social Care early legal help tool. Initially, this project will be focused on how to support carers who have multiple barriers to accessing the support they and the person they care for need.

We want to pilot a network of Peer Navigators who will act as an interface between the tool and people who are most underserved by social care and advice services and experience intersectionality of barriers. The role would particularly suit someone who has experience of the social care system as a family carer or disabled person and/or someone who has experienced barriers to accessing services due to other protected characteristics. 

The role is new and will initially focus on working within our place-based Hubs of Croydon and Gloucestershire. The role will require a creative person who can work in partnership with other members of the team, people with lived experience of social care support and social care organisations.  They will need to develop a set of policies and procedures for the delivery of the project and recruit, train and supervise the Peer Navigators.

To be a success in this role, you should be an excellent team worker, communicator, proactive, flexible, excellent people skills, highly organised and able to meet deadlines. You should also have a thorough understanding of co-production.

Responsibilities 

• With Hubs manager, Hub team members and people with lived experience – refine the aims of the project and identify priorities 

• Develop and implement a project plan for delivery of the project 

• Develop a role description for the Peer Navigators 

• Identify and test different options for advertising and recruiting Peer Navigators 

• Train Peer Navigators in the Care Act and use of the chatbot 

• Develop guidance on how people can seek advice about their employment and benefit status in relation to fulfilling the role 

• Develop and run an appropriate supervision process to ensure good quality support is offered 

• Arrange further training as chatbot develops 

• Set up and run Peer Navigator team meetings to ensure they feel supported, and we learn from their experiences 

• Devise a monitoring and evaluation framework and set up proformas for peer navigators to capture outcomes

The Role:

The Partner Engagement Lead is responsible for key account management, and specifically developing and supporting relationships with programme sponsors and partners within the WorldGBC network.

The Partner Engagement Lead will work closely alongside the programme/projects team subject leads, taking responsibility for day to day management of activities that relate to sponsors or stakeholders, including partner relationships, external collaborations and fundraising.

Working cross-functionally within a matrix-style organisation, the Lead will work collaboratively on the engagement pillar of WorldGBC's fundraising team alongside the Partnerships Manager and the Strategic Partnerships Lead. This team coordinates closely with all WorldGBC departments, in particular where sponsors are involved with initial focus on the programme/project partners.

Well-organised and a great communicator, this individual will ensure that key relationships are managed effectively across the organisation, and be detail oriented in their reporting and accounting of opportunities. The Lead should also be willing to represent the organisation in relevant external opportunities relating to the programmes as need arises - including fundraising meetings, external working groups, events or conferences.

The Partner Engagement Lead will report to the Director of Programmes Strategy.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Account Management: Be primary point of contact for new and existing programmatic sponsors and partners, overseeing engagement with the network and accounting with detailed reporting to ensure up-to-date partnership records. Work alongside the programmatic team leads to deliver all agreed benefits to partners, ensuring a uniform balance of benefits and opportunities across sponsors engaging in all areas of the organisation.

2. Fundraising and Budget Management: Work alongside the programme leads to secure funding and manage relevant programme/project budgets (with guidance from the Director of Programmes Strategy), including supporting grant application and reporting responsibilities where necessary.

3. Stakeholder Engagement (members and partners): Engage with stakeholders to ensure that our programmes/projects align with their goals and needs, working with the Director of Programmes Strategy and wider programme team to explore best practice engagement tactics throughout 2024.

4. Subject Matter Expertise: Stay current with the latest trends in sustainable buildings and WorldGBC programme outputs, ensuring the Lead can communicate knowledgeably about WorldGBC strategy and work areas as required.

 

5. Communications: Support communication for WorldGBC on topics related to sustainable buildings in relevant programmatic areas, representing the team at internal or external events or industry working groups and collaborating with Marketing & Communications on accurate messaging for publications and campaigns.

6. Supporting Programmes team: Be a committed member of the WorldGBC team and offer support, training and expertise to wider members of the team. Participate and engage in wider WorldGBC campaigns, events and deliverables, such as COP, World Green Building Week and Leadership Summit.

The Huntington's Disease Association is a UK registered charity that supports people affected by Huntington's disease across England and Wales. We provide information, advice and support to families, friends, and healthcare professionals.

We are looking for an experienced Volunteer Manager to support and inspire those who volunteer for the charity. You will lead them in line with the vision, mission and values of the charity and work to fulfil the goals of our strategic plan. You will strengthen our current volunteering strands with effective governance and great communication and will develop new volunteering opportunities within the charity.

You will manage our volunteer-led Branches and Support groups who offer peer support, fundraising opportunities and activities locally. You will also manage HD Voice, our panel of volunteers, who contribute to the internal development of the charity and ensure that the voice of the Huntington’s community is at the heart of research into the condition.

Advocacy 1st is a free, independent service provided by advocates who specialise in the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and the Mental Health Act.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with stroke survivors and their families to support them following stroke. We’re looking for an innovative, passionate professional, whose values match our own, can think independently and is open to a coaching style of management, to join our Stroke Recovery Service based in Suffolk.

Position: S11157 Stroke Association Support Coordinator – Communication Support

Location: Home-based, Suffolk however, frequent travel will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work-related meetings)

Hours: Full-time 35 hour per week (flexible working available)

Salary: Circa £25,500 per annum

The Role

The service aims to identify and address the needs of stroke survivors and carers whose lives are affected by aphasia, by providing a range of innovative support solutions, supporting them to meet their desired outcomes. A key part of the role will be to support service users and the delivery of the service.

Reporting to the Stroke Association Service Delivery Coach, the Stroke Association Support Coordinator will:

· Support stroke survivors and their carers to develop appropriate communication strategies and practices, Build confidence in the use of these communication strategies in order to live life with maximum independence

· Run an effective service for stroke survivors and carers, including face to face, digital and online resources, ensuring that confidential and accurate records are kept on our CRM data base

· Provide personalised information, advice and supportEnable stroke survivors to make informed lifestyle changes which will help them to prevent further strokes

· Work with other health and social care professionals across the stroke pathway to ensure high quality support

About You

Knowledge, skills and experience you will ideally have:

· Background in a caring profession, ideally supporting people with disabilities

· Excellent IT skills and an ability to maintain accurate records

· An affinity with the values of the Stroke Association

· A flexible approach and an ability to effectively manage a caseload

Would you like a role where you can create systemic change in prison healthcare?

Listen to Families is an innovative new service to improve prison healthcare by involving families and carers more proactively in the process. A pilot project - the first of its kind - has been running in London for around 18 months. It seeks to create mechanisms and opportunities for families to be heard and influence how healthcare services are delivered and developed.

The service listens to the views and experiences of families, feeds that back to the NHS and providers, makes recommendations about where improvements could be made, and works with them to co-produce solutions with people who have lived experience.

This role holder will set up a similar pilot project in four prisons in the South East – HMPs Elmley, Downview, Huntercombe and Aylesbury. This is an opportunity for someone to join and shape the delivery of the project from the day one.

We're looking for:

• A good understanding of service user engagement practices and methodologies.
• Understanding of the importance of professional boundaries and the complex/vulnerable nature of our service users.
• Knowledge and understanding of the diverse needs of prisoners and their families, including those from marginalised communities.
• Experience of service user involvement with diverse groups, ideally including people who have been affected by the criminal justice system.

The position

The successful candidate will work closely with the EU/Western Europe team to contribute to our work in the region, with a particular focus on debates and developments around corporate accountability regulations in Europe. The Researcher will be responsible for updating and maintaining the digital portal with relevant news items and information on policy trends related to the region, engaging with European companies to seek responses to allegations of human rights abuse, both within the region and in their value chains, as well as supporting our efforts to promote effective implementation of (mandatory) due diligence.

Responsibilities

• Media monitoring: Conduct media monitoring online in English and German to identify news reports, NGO/civil society/trade union statements and reports, and policy development relating to business and human rights in the region as well as cases of alleged human rights abuse by European companies.
• Website content maintenance: Publish relevant items in English and German on the Resource Centre website, curate information, news and resources on online portal pages relating to Mandatory Due Diligence, UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and Beyond Social Auditing.
• Company responses: Invite European companies in English and German to respond to allegations of human rights abuse and concerns raised by civil society about their conduct; maintain contact database information.
• Contribute to regional strategies and priorities: With partners and colleagues, support the EU team to implement our regional strategy, with a particular focus on the effective implementation of emerging and existing mandatory due diligence laws in Europe.
• Develop high quality written materials: (Co-)author materials for our website, including newsletters, blog posts, workshop summaries, guidance documents, briefing notes and papers.
• Outreach and representation: Help sustain and build a network of contacts in the region. Occasionally represent the Resource Centre at meetings, conferences and workshops.
• Administrative and project support: Assist as necessary with ad-hoc administrative tasks including donor reporting, organising travel and workshops.
• Team work: Participate in regularly scheduled Global Team and EU team calls, and ad-hoc calls and meetings as needed.

Having been paused to new referrals, Action for M.E.’s free, independent, Adults Advocacy service will soon be re-opening. It’s one of our range of free Support Services that work with adults, young people, and/or families living with M.E. We support colleagues across the team to take part in and share reflective practice, self-care, peer-support and training.

Our Adults Advocacy service offers non-statutory, single-issue, instructed advocacy for adults with a confirmed diagnosis of M.E. We encourage self-advocacy where possible, though many of our clients are too severely affected by M.E. to be able to take undertake this.  

As an Adults Advocate, you will manage a caseload of clients, as well as inputting and contributing to the triage process along with your Advocacy colleagues. You will meet with clients by phone, email, Zoom and/or SMS; we can also facilitate communication by post if this is required. We are not able to offer home visits or face to face meetings.
