As our PR Manager for the Midlands and the North of England, you will raise the profile of the British Heart Foundation (BHF) in support of our lifesaving work.
Responsible for creating awareness of BHF, you’ll focus on our research funding and its impact to grow our support and income. You’ll promote BHF’s work, influencing local partners and shaping the charity’s reputation through media, engagement events, and other communication channels.
Working with local teams to devise and deliver impactful communication strategies, you’ll meet challenging KPIs and demonstrate significant impact which should raise the public’s propensity to give. You will work with the UK-wide media team to devise and deliver PR strategies to promote key brand and awareness campaigns.
Your local expertise will guide the way we influence and use both traditional media, digital channels, and engagement opportunities.
Working arrangements
Please note this is a 12-month fixed term contract, covering secondment. Start date is as soon as possible. The contract will run for 12 months from start date.
This is a home-based role with occasional travel across the Midlands and North of England. There will also be a requirement to travel to BHF offices where necessary for team events and meetings.

About you
As our ideal candidate, you bring in-depth knowledge of the media landscape in the Midlands and North of England, and demonstrable experience of finding and developing stories for the media, delivering successful communications campaigns, and working collaboratively in a media team.
With strong experience gained as a journalist or in a communications role (either in-house or agency), you have excellent written and verbal communication and presenting skills, the ability to build trust and relationships, and strong creativity in developing campaigns. You can take complicated information and translate it into consumer-friendly communications.
A confident self-starter who enjoys travelling across the UK, you can work under your own initiative as part of a supportive and geographically dispersed team.

About the role

Main duties and responsibilities
Partnership Management
- Responsible for coordinating, managing and supporting RCUK’s collaborative activity with community and corporate partner organisations in the UK.
- Act as the central link between partner organisations, and our patient and public voice group.
- Manage relationships with both corporate and community partnerships developing strong new relationships and strengthening existing relationships, liaising with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

- Lead on the implementation of a new partnership strategy for RCUK working closely with the Director of Communications and Engagement and key internal stakeholders, ensuring it remains relevant and develops across the life of our partnership activity.
- Lead on developing bespoke individual plans for each partner relationship.
- Lead on proactively researching and developing a pipeline of new partners whose values and mission align with the RCUK vision, presenting progress in monthly stakeholder meetings.

We are seeking a versatile communications professional with a passion for media & PR to join our team and help us drive forward change. You will be experienced in planning and delivering impactful media campaigns, supporting people to tell their stories, and developing cross-cutting communication campaigns to meet strategic objectives. This is a fast paced and varied role, working across teams and with our community to put ovarian cancer at the top of the agenda.
The role is a full time role, working 35 hours per week. Fixed term contract for 12 months.
We currently offer a hybrid-working model. This means you may usually work from your home or remote location, but are expected to attend meetings and pay for your own travel to the office in Angel, London when required. The Public Affairs and Policy Manager will play a crucial role in helping to determine and shape TMs policy goals and how best to achieve them. Working closely and collaboratively with colleagues from across the organisation, and in close consultation with the TMs internal and external stakeholder groups and networks you will develop policy, research and campaigning projects to meet the organisations strategic objectives. Your purpose
This year Voice 21 are recruiting to a newly formed Communications, Campaigns and Public Affairs department to help address these challenges. As Campaigns Manager, you will support the Head of Communications, Campaigns and Public Affairs to make oracy education ordinary, co-ordinating and project managing communications campaigns as well as leading content delivery. In doing so, you will play an integral role in ensuring all children, regardless of their background, find their voice for success in school and in life.
Your responsibilities
● Play a senior role in the Communications, Campaigns and Public Affairs team, as part of the wider Learning, Impact and Influence directorate
Campaigns (70%)
● Responsible for developing and delivering integrated campaigns working closely with Fundraising, Marketing, Customer Service and Service Delivery teams.
● This will include, but is not limited to: growing charity awareness, recruitment and retention, growing our advocacy base and policy change campaigns
● Taking a lead role in development and project management, you will deliver our national campaigns and business as usual communications projects
● Utilising matrix management, you'll bring internal and external teams and freelancers together to oversee all aspects of our campaigns.
● Engaging the entire marketing mix, you'll develop, implement, integrate, and evaluate campaigns across various channels, including PR, digital, advertising, and influencer amplification
● Planning, delivering and leading purposeful and planned communications cycles & campaigns
● Delivering and using implementable insights from analysis and user intelligence
Content and brand (30%)
● Creating, co-creating and commissioning communications materials and content and proactively spotting new opportunities to raise awareness of our work across the sector

Press and Marketing Coordinator
Gresham College is a charity which provides high-quality free education to the public across a broad range of subjects. The College aims to stimulate a love of learning and intellectual curiosity and to champion academic rigor, professional expertise and freedom of expression.
Gresham College has been providing free lectures within the City of London for over 400 years. Lectures are attended by an in-person audience and live-streamed around the world. We have currently had over 51 million online views.
The College is now in year four of an exciting five-year plan which has the primary aim of increasing and broadening the audience which the College reaches. JOB DESCRIPTION:
The postholder will be responsible for publicising Gresham lectures and speakers to the media to amplify our visibility, enhance our reputation, and attract new audiences to Gresham.
The post-holder will need to be able to translate complex, technical information into clear and engaging press releases and briefings. They will need to be capable of managing proactive, planned press work but also have the ability to react to events and enquiries as well. They should demonstrate a strong track record of working and placing articles with a variety of national / international / print / digital media outlets.
With help from junior staff, they will also proactively inform additional groups of upcoming lectures – for example, faculty heads / administrators of university programs aligned with the respective lecture topic.
They will build relationships with other organisations in our sector with a view to cross-promotion when appropriate.
Finally, they will serve as the primary liaison for external press agencies enlisted to undertake independent or standalone projects.
Reports to Executive Director
Salary £32,000 - £35,000 (Pro-rata, part time, 2 days (14 hours) a week role). Saul Pension scheme (currently 16% employers’ contribution)

Responsibilities
1. Write press releases about key lectures, speakers and series.
2. Disseminate these notices to media contacts (journalists, reporters, bloggers, media outlets) via media relations software, and personal correspondence when appropriate.
3. Build and maintain targeted lists of media contacts within media relations software to increase the efficacy of this work.
4. Act as the liaison between media contacts and Gresham speakers, facilitating collaboration such as the co-authoring of editorials or press interviews.
5. Work with junior colleague(s) to build lists of other contacts who may be interested in particular lectures and manage distribution of information to these groups.
6. Similarly, disseminate lecture information to other broadcast opportunities and platforms, such as membership associations, event-listing websites and newsletters, building reciprocal relationships with sector partners.
7. Serve as the primary liaison for external press agencies enlisted to undertake independent or standalone projects.
8. Report monthly on the above activities and recommend future development of the press and marketing offering.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:
1. Between three and five-years’ experience working as a journalist, in a press office or communications team.
2. Robust knowledge of the UK media landscape.
3. The ability to build good, working relationships with press and media contacts.
4. Success in securing national or wider press coverage of stories / stakeholders / campaigns.
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to translate complex information and data into messaging for a range of audiences.
6. Proficient in drafting timely and accurate press releases.
7. Ability to organise time effectively, prioritise workload, meet deadlines and multitask with ease.
8. Able to work well under pressure and respond to issues at short notice and occasionally out of hours.
9. Good team player with an understanding of other communications disciplines
10. Confident use of MS office applications and other IT systems.
