About us
Who we are
The Community Advice and Law Service (‘CALS’) is a registered charity which has been providing free, independent, confidential and quality assured legal advice services for over 40 years. We focus on debt, housing, welfare benefits and immigration. We promote self-help where appropriate and offer casework support for those unable to deal with a legal matter alone. We ensure that our services are available to all irrespective of gender, race, ethnic origin, disability, age, nationality, national origin, sexuality, religion or belief, marital status and social class, and are opposed all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination.
We primarily operate in Leicester and Leicestershire but are also responsible for managing a Money and Pension Service contract for debt advice which sub-contracts to other advice providers throughout the East Midlands.
We have an annual turnover of £5 million and a staff team of 46 FTE’s on service delivery.
