Who we are
The Crossness Engines Trust ('CET') is an inspirational and innovative preservation and heritage charity. It was one of the first of its kind.
CET, the 'Cathedral on the Marsh' is home to the immense Victorian beam engines installed in the 1860's by renowned civil engineer, Sir Joseph Bazalgette. His pioneering work led directly to the health and sanitation improvements we enjoy to this day.
Since formation, the CET has restored a gigantic beam engine to full steam operation. Our restoration and preservation work continues. We're where we are today because of the work of enthusiasts, volunteers and philanthropic supporters.
