FACT is the UK's leading organisation for the support and exhibition of art and film that embraces new technology and explores digital culture. FACT’s commissions and exhibitions create rich engagements for audiences and communities in Liverpool with contemporary art, film, and technology. The award-winning FACT Centre, which opened in 2003, has two large art galleries, three cinemas, a media and events space, learning spaces, and a café and a bar, and is warmly regarded as a major cultural institution in Liverpool. Annually, we welcome around 250,000 people into our building.
Nurturing artistic and creative technology practice is central to FACT’s mission. Each year, we support, commission and work with dozens of artists, offering career enhancing opportunities to develop and show new work and to collaborate and engage with scientists, technologists, radical thinkers and Liverpool communities to create new art and explore ideas. Through our learning and public programmes, we offer deep participatory engagements for young people and adults from communities around the Liverpool city region, integrating art with science and/or technology.
FACT has a reputation as one of the leading moving image and new media arts centres in the world, with international co-commissioning and touring networks, particularly across Europe, East Asia, and North America. As a port, Liverpool is an outward-looking, globally connected city, and these partnerships are vital for FACT both for the creative production and exchange of art and ideas, as well as for co-production and touring income.
FACT is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. We are part of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio and Liverpool City Council’s Culture and Arts Investment Portfolio (CAIP).
