About Healthy Hamlets

Who We Are:

We are a small team of qualified professionals who work with people from the local community and are aiming to create a new grassroots community health and wellbeing project in Tower Hamlets, called Health Hamlets for people who live, work or study in the borough with a main target to reach those from deprived and disadvantaged backgrounds who because of income and/or health inequalities are not able to afford or engage in healthy living activities and lifestyles. We also aim to make positive lifestyle changes to improve people’s long-term health and wellbeing.

Our overall aim is to provide 3 levels of interaction within the community:

1). To raise awareness of the benefits of good health and to give practical support to help people improve their knowledge, skills and confidence in improving their lifestyles.

2). To engage and support people in a range of healthy lifestyle programmes such as group exercise sessions, weight management, healthy eating and health workshops.

3). To motivate individuals with practical one-to-one behaviour change support by developing personal health plans and intensive support.

What we want to do:

We want to offer free, confidential one-to-one behaviour change support, to help people make positive lifestyle changes. We will work in the most deprived areas of Tower Hamlets to reduce health inequalities. We will offer 12 Week Healthy Lifestyle Programmes, offering people a range of exercise and physical activity sessions, cook and eat classes, healthy eating workshops, weight management, mindfulness and reducing stress workshops, stopping smoking, alcohol concerns and practical assistance and support with wider determinant issues.

We will also work with people to establish what changes they wish to make, to develop a personalised behaviour change plan and to provide support and encouragement to enable you to achieve your goals as you strive to live the kind of life that improves their chances of staying healthy and well.

We also want to provide a number of one off and short term taster activities, information, and guidance sessions, workshops, online media videos and much more to engage with as many people as possible from a range of different backgrounds.
