About us
Who we are
Understand. Recognise. Accept. Achieve!
“Leeds Autism Services (LAS) are a charity dedicated to helping to create a more autism friendly society. We have been helping autistic people to reach their true potential for over 30 years”
Our Mission
To achieve a more autism friendly society by promoting understanding and acceptance of people on the autistic spectrum
Our Vision
We want to see a society where people with autism are accepted, respected and have their skills and abilities fully recognised
“With your support Leeds Autism Services can provide greater opportunities for adults with autism and enhance their day-to-day lives” – Kay Mellor OBE
Direct Support Services
LAS provide specialist support for adults on the autistic spectrum. We realise that everyone we work with is unique so our packages are tailored to help people identify and achieve their life goals, whatever they may be!
Our Vocational and Community Support (VACS) services operate 5 days a week for 51 weeks of the year.
Leeds Autism Services - VACS
Everyone comes to VACS on a 1:1 staffing basis, although we have many group and social activities people can take part in.
We have two bases that we work from, both have outdoor areas, communal areas, individual workshop rooms, toilets / changing facilities, life skills areas, sensory rooms and quiet areas. Leeds Autism Services VACS is accreddited by the National Autistic Society.
VACS – Grape Street
The Grape Street base is in Hunslet, South Leeds, close to Leeds City Centre. It has three floors and also serves as our head office. It is easily accessible by public transport and has an enclosed car park. This base also has a large outdoor area, with a greenhouse and two trampolines.
VACS - New Mabgate
New Mabgate is based in Armley and has numerous workshop rooms. Street parking is available and it has good public transport links. It also has a large gym / dance area, dedicated art rooms and a pottery with a kiln.
VACS – Outreach Service
Some people prefer not to come into a base, so we also offer outreach support, where we support people in the community or in their own home.
Leeds Autism Services – Ashlar House
Ashlar House is a 7-bed residential service based in Chapel Allerton, North Leeds. It is a large victorian building and is within walking distance of many local amenities. Ashlar House is easily accessed by public transport and has ample on-street parking.
