Who we are

Otra Cosa Network (OCN) is a Peruvian non-profit NGO (Registered number: 1126841) and registered UK Charity (Registration number: 1133680) that offers a wide variety of affordable and satisfying volunteering opportunities to well-motivated volunteers from around the world. Otra Cosa Network is based in Huanchaco on the coast of Northern Peru. Many of our projects are local to us, but we now also offer projects in the highlands and jungle of the country. OCN carefully selects well motivated volunteers with the right skills and experience for appropriate projects and offers them support from arrival to departure. As well as providing volunteers for locally run projects, we have several projects within the communities that have been created by Otra Cosa Network volunteers. We built and maintain a skate park in Cerrito de la Virgen, we have initiated the opening of Huanchaco’s first library, we have opened an after school program that helps children with their homework, and the Huanchaco Education and Learning Programme (HELP). We address basic needs that are needed in the community and create projects that help resolve them. Otra Cosa Network organizes and coordinates resources to mobilize community members. We are dedicated to providing interesting, stimulating, and rewarding placements to our volunteers, each of whom contribute something new to our many projects. Otra Cosa Network's main objective therefore is to sustain its wide-ranging projects towards improving the quality of people's lives within and beyond the local area. Empowering them through education and self-sustaining projects.
