About us
Who we are
The Snowdon Trust was set up by the first Earl of Snowdon in 1981 to support disabled students to achieve qualifications in further and higher education and vocational training to further their career ambitions. The main focus of our work is the provision of financial grants that meet the additional financial burden of disability-related study costs, and scholarships which accelerate the most talented students through their studies to take on workplace leadership positions which help drive inclusivity.
Our financial awards break down a financial barrier for disabled students, but we know there are still too many more obstacles and challenges which impact on educational experience and outcomes and also on the transition into the workplace for disabled students and graduates. And so, to further strengthen the impact of our investment in our grant holders we have established the disabled leaders’ network alongside our financial awards, to further support disabled students and graduates on their career journey. This member-led network provides a forum for development, peer networking, support and collaboration, and a platform for advocacy and activism.
We’ve completed a strategic review across our programmes in the last year, and as a result, we are beginning work to grow the scope of our financial awards and we are investing in new systems and processes to deliver them effectively to support disabled students with big ambitions.
