Who we are

Switchboard has been providing support and information to millions of people for over 45 years. We are a listening service that caters to the LGBTQIA+ communities and beyond. We provide an information, support and referral service for anyone considering issues around their sexuality and/or gender identity. We strive to provide a non-judgemental and inclusive environment for all our callers.

We are proud to be a charity with over 200+ volunteers, supported by a staff team with the single aim of creating the best switchboard possible for our volunteers and service users.

Switchboard has evolved greatly over the years, but particularly in recent years. Switchboard now support people by Phone, Instant Messaging and Email. 

Switchboard is now truly a digital service with ambitions to add further channels for service users to reach us.

We are a safe space for anyone to discuss anything, including sexuality, gender identity, sexual health, and emotional wellbeing.

We support people to explore the right options for themselves.

We aspire to a society where all LGBTQIA+ people are informed and empowered.
