About Thera Trust

The Camden Society has been supporting people with a learning disability to live the life they choose for over 50 years. Our vision is for an equal and inclusive society, free from discrimination. We started as a campaigning organisation in 1966 and became a registered charity in the mid-1980s. Today, we work across 11 London Boroughs and Oxfordshire supporting 780 people every week. We have a deep understanding of local needs and contexts, as well as an excellent track record for delivering high quality services.

We have come a long way over the last 50 years. People with a learning disability now play a more active role in their community and are increasingly supported to stay in their own homes. However, there is still much progress to be made.

We recognize this and work to ensure that people with a learning disability can regain the confidence to try new things, make mistakes and make progress in their own time, just like everyone else can.

We help people to live independently, find a job and training through our apprenticeship scheme and improve their health and well-being through our activity centres, clubs and short breaks. Most importantly, our wide range of services has been developed by responding to the wishes of people we support, their family and their carers.
