Who we are
Whisper is a very high-impact UK registered charity that runs Whisper's Magical Children's Hospital and Maternity in Jinja, Uganda. We don't know of any charity that saves more lives for a given donation. The hospital sees around 1000 child patients and 200 maternity patients each month.
Whisper has no paid staff in the UK and all our admin costs are covered by a private donor. This means 100% of the money donated by the general public goes to the projects in Uganda. Most of our volunteer work in the UK is done online from home, except when we go out to meet donors, to fundraise or to organise events - and yes, we definitely need to get out more!
Even if we're not actively advertising for volunteer posts, it would be great to hear from you if you have good relevant commercial skills such as copywriting, web development, online marketing, accountancy or if you want to volunteer for collections at tube stations in London. In Uganda we also welcome volunteers with medical skills, for periods from 2 weeks to a year or more. We also have a very active fundraising branch in the Czech Republic.
