Who we are

We are a local charity supported by 1,000 volunteers and over 37,000 members. We manage over 100 nature reserves, including some of the UK’s rarest habitats such as ancient woodland, wild fen, wetland and wildflower meadow. By creating Living Landscapes, we are connecting these sites together in a large natural network that helps wildlife move freely. We provide wildlife experiences for people of all ages and backgrounds through events, training workshops, school programmes and volunteering opportunities. We work strategically and share our knowledge, advising landowners on how to manage their land for nature. We monitor the health of nature using the latest technology (aerial drones, LIDAR, GPS and mapping software) as well as species identification and recording. We defend wildlife through engagement with the planning system, local MPs and other Wildlife Trusts, campaigning on issues affecting wildlife.
