About Age UK London
Age UK London is a charity that campaigns for an age-friendly London. We campaign for specific changes to improve the lives of older Londoners and ensure that their experiences, needs and contributions are heard and taken into account by decision makers.
We do this in three ways:
· Core campaigns, through which we will secure specific, sustainable changes to the policies and practices of decision makers to improve the lives of older Londoners.
· Shaping the agenda, by ensuring that the experiences, needs and contributions of older Londoners are heard by decision makers and form part of the public discourse on the future of London.
· Supporting the London network of local Age UKs. An age-friendly city relies on both campaigning and direct service provision, so we support the network of local Age UKs in London who deliver vital front-line services.
Since becoming a charity focused solely on campaigning in 2019, Age UK London has adopted and implemented a new strategy. We have agreed campaign priorities; successfully changed policy at a London-wide and borough level; and adapted our finance, HR and IT systems to better support a campaigning charity.

We are looking for a candidate to cover our CEO’s maternity leave from the end of May 2024 until the middle of February 2025 to oversee the continued delivery of the charity's current strategy. Background
Women's Link Worldwide (WLW) was founded on the principles of intersectional feminism, anti-racism, anti-colonialism, and Global South leadership, our organization is deeply rooted in the mission of advancing feminist movements across Latin America and the Caribbean, East Africa, and Europe. With a robust network comprising over 60 national partners and 40 regional and global coalitions, we strive to dismantle oppressive systems and rebalance power dynamics. Our approach centers on transforming the feminist strategic litigation landscape, breaking down legal barriers, and amplifying the voices of marginalized communities within the legal sphere.
At the heart of our strategy lies an intersectional lens, guiding our legal interventions to secure the rights of women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals. Our core focus areas include gender and reproductive justice, particularly advocating for safe and dignified access to abortion and combating gender-based violence. Recognizing the interconnectedness of climate and racial justice with sexual and reproductive rights, we integrate these perspectives into our advocacy efforts. Central to our ethos is the adoption of reproductive justice, pioneered by Black women since the 1990s, which combines reproductive rights with broader social justice imperatives through an intersectional framework.

REF-212 576
Across the UK, over 130,000 of us have multiple sclerosis (MS); and more than 6m people have a close personal connection with the condition. It's unpredictable and different for everyone. It's often painful and exhausting, and can cause problems with how we walk, move, see, think and feel. It can make it hard to work and do the things we enjoy. But it doesn't have to be this way.
The MS Society is a community of scientists, campaigners, volunteers, fundraisers and staff who are dedicated to transforming the lives of people living with and affected by MS. We understand what life's like with MS, and we support each other through the highs, lows and everything in between. And we're driving research into more - and better - treatments for everyone. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.
As our new Executive Director of Services and Support, you will play a pivotal role in an organisation that is on a journey of transformation – aiming to maximise our impact by reaching, engaging and building enduring relationships with many more people in the MS community across the UK. As a key member of our Executive Group, you will spearhead our plans to deliver an integrated portfolio of information, services and support at national, regional and local level - designed in partnership with members of the MS community and responding to their needs.
The Candidate
- A track record of success in leading and managing a large, geographically dispersed delivery function in the voluntary, public sector or multi-site environment of comparable size and complexity, to deliver high quality results to deadlines and under pressure.
- Impressive record of delivering innovation in service design, development and measurement.
- Substantial experience of working in an executive/board level team, determining strategic direction and delivery.
- Track record of working successfully with disparate teams.
- Experience of managing a team to develop, communicate and implement business plans.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, and able to influence/persuade a wide range of stakeholders.
Closing date for applications: 22nd April 2024.
Actively Interviewing
This organisation is scheduling interviews as the applications come in. Don’t miss your opportunity, apply now!
Every 6 minutes someone learns that they are losing their sight. Every five hours, a baby is born with sight problems. In these moments, two profound questions emerge:
• Can this be stopped?
• How do I (or my child) live this life?
The merger of Fight for Sight and Vision Foundation on 1st April 2023 will enable us to address both questions. By combining our strengths and expertise we’ll be the only significant national funder with the efficiency, capability, and capacity to increase investment in medical research and social improvement. Together we can mitigate both the prevalence and impact of sight loss.
We have a clear ambition, led by our CEO, Keith Valentine, who has valuable lived experience of sight loss. We’ve secured well-respected and highly engaged ambassadors and patrons, such as Sir John Major and Marsha De Cordova MP. We also benefit from world renowned researchers on our Research Grants Assessment Panel.
We are now looking for experienced, committed, and creative individuals to join our dynamic team as we devise and launch new five-year organisational and research strategies. You’ll have a chance to contribute to the delivery of these strategies and lead on plans for disseminating them.
