About the team
The Digital team was created in 2022, with aims including ‘to update our use of systems so that they better meet our needs, provide answers more quickly and easily, and increase the robustness and efficiency of the ways we use data’ as well as to ‘help us change the way we work, not just the systems we use.’
Until now a one-person team, we are adding the CRM and Analytics Manager role to provide a greater focus for development of our key data systems, and to meet increased demand from across Impetus as we drive use of CRM. The team works cross-organisationally, providing development for, collaborating via established working groups with, all teams within Impetus.
About this role
We are looking for a talented professional with a passion for maximising the value of data, who is looking to join an organisation where they can put their skills to use across all aspects of our operations. You will join at a key time to develop and embed our work in this area, providing key support to all of our teams as well as expanding and improving the range of data available to us.
You will lead on the development, administration, and staff engagement with, and training on, our Salesforce CRM system. This will include data from, and collaboration with, all departments of Impetus, including our donors and prospects, our collaboration with partner charities, and our communications with email audiences. You will also manage the relationship with our existing Salesforce partner agency, drawing on them for additional support resource and coordinating broader development projects.
You will also aggregate, visualise, and draw relevant insight from data across our systems, including Salesforce, Google Analytics, and our social media platforms. In time, we will look to combine our own data with other external and open data. Since Impetus is in the early stages of making the best use of this cross-systems, cross-organisational data, you will have broad freedom and responsibility to set the overall direction of development, in collaboration with relevant teams, as well as the specific dashboards and other outputs that you create.
The successful candidate will have experience developing and drawing value from Salesforce, including both technical development and collaborating closely with teams to drive engagement and best practice. You will also have experience of working with a broad range of data to produce high quality visual and analytic outputs and a commitment to enabling data-driven decision-making.
This position requires someone that can collaborate with a wide variety of teams as well as frequently working independently and with a high degree of autonomy. You will be able to own CRM for an impactful, curious, and growing organisation, as well as providing it with the usable insight it craves to further grow and deliver impact.
Key responsibilities
CRM:
- Own the development and administration of our Salesforce system
- Work with all teams at Impetus to maximise their engagement with Salesforce and provide relevant training
- Collaborate with our Salesforce support partner to leverage additional administration, and development project, resource
- Gather information and data to identify business requirements and processes for adding to, or further developing on, Salesforce.
- Evaluate technical solutions in terms of meeting business requirements.
- Work closely with stakeholders, including the project team, to ensure requirements are fully and accurately understood.
- Collaborate with the Comms team to ensure we are making the most effective and efficient use of Pardot for our email lists.
- Develop reporting within Salesforce.
- Answer staff queries and ad hoc requests.
Analytics:
- Lead the development, and administration of our data integration and transformation and Data Warehouse systems
- Lead the development of our organisational reporting (initial development in Domo, but likewise open to moving to e.g. PowerBI)
- Working with the Comms team, developing and reporting from Google Analytics
- Identifying and using open data, for example from government departments around employment and education
Collaboration:
- Aiding the development of a culture of data literacy and data-driven decision-making across Impetus
- Working with charity partners to develop foundational data and reporting capabilities
- Working with third parties providing data and insight to our partners or the wider sector
Person specification
Essential
- Advanced knowledge of, and significant experience with, Salesforce development in a professional context
- Significant experience of collaborating closely with varied stakeholders to determine requirements, evaluate solutions, and plan development
- Demonstrated ability to manage and interpret varied datasets to inform strategic decision-making
- Knowledge of reporting tools, for example PowerBI or Domo, together with a track record of creating dashboards and driving their adoption
- Knowledge of SQL

Project support
- Contribute to outreach to project stakeholders, Community Members, partners & event attendees, answering and directing queries and scheduling appointments and virtual/ in-person meetings

The Position
The Communications and Marketing team works to build the Fund’s brand presence and visibility with key audiences, delivers campaigns to grow its digital community and pipeline of individual donors, and leads on strategic communications projects to further the organization’s programmatic and developmental objectives. The team is made up of four committed individuals, not including this post, and current team members are based across the UK and US.
Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing, the Marketing Technology & Analytics Lead works to ensure that all communications and marketing activities are maximally robust, well-optimized and data driven. The post holder will provide data management, tracking, analysis, and ongoing systems maintenance and development. They will act as the lead product owner of our WordPress website, ensuring it is optimized for the best possible SEO and User Experience, oversee our email, donation, and content platforms, and work closely with our Salesforce Administrator to manage all integrations between these systems and our Salesforce CRM.
The Marketing Technology & Analytics Lead will also create and oversee analytics dashboards that allow the team to track and measure its performance across the full range of communications, marketing, and fundraising activities, and will be responsible for collating key actionable insights that can inform cross-team learning and continuously improve our digital communications and marketing strategies.

Essential Duties

- Work closely with the other members of the Communications and Marketing team, across the full range of web, paid and organic social, and email marketing, assessing analytics and technology needs and offering technical insights that can inform optimizations and future strategies
- Manage and build dashboards and reporting templates that maximize insight across all digital marketing, communications, and individual giving metrics
- Act as the overall technical owner of the organizational website, building new website pages as needed and ensuring the best possible user experience
- Manage the infrastructure of the Fund’s email marketing platform, MailChimp, providing support to others in the team on technical MailChimp projects, such as implementing automated journeys, managing audience segments, and producing templates that require HTML or CSS coding
- Manage the Fund’s donation platforms (currently Funraise) and build unique donate pages, pop-ups, and campaign page templates as needed, using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript where necessary
- Ensure the flow of data between the Fund’s marketing platforms and Salesforce, working across teams to provide technical support on integrations and cross organizational systems, and scoping any platform improvements
- Lead on Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing, overseeing the Fund’s Google Ad grant account and utilize it to help increase website traffic
- Manage and update supporter and transactional data to ensure an elevated level of hygiene and manage the synchronization of all data between all marketing tools and Salesforce
- Work with the Communications and Marketing and Individual Giving teams to inform the conceptualization and planning of fundraising campaigns and manage their implementation from a technical perspective, and work alongside colleagues throughout their campaigns to ensure accurate data management and analysis
- Coordinate and lead on the management of the team’s video, photo, and audio libraries, ensuring all assets are appropriately downloaded, compressed, tagged, and stored
- Collaborate with the IT team to ensure the security, analytics, and implementation of all external communications technologies

Minimum Qualifications

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented In-house Interim Accountant to join our dynamic finance team on a 12-months Fixed Term Contract. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing various financial activities, including the preparation of consolidated budgets, monthly consolidated accounts, year-end statutory accounts, mid-year forecasts, cash forecasts, and assisting various tax returns. The In-House Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards.

About you:

Purpose of Role
We are looking for an insightful and pro-active Data Analyst. This role is based within our Income and Marketing Department, reporting to the Head of Membership and working closely with our IT team.
You will lead the delivery of the Ramblers’ supporter selections, design and implement data solutions to drive supporter engagement and increase efficiencies and deliver data insights to staff members and volunteers about our audiences. We are looking for someone with experience in Python, SQL and Tableau.

The role
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the organisation to use data in its operations, using first party and third-party data sources to facilitate more informed and reliable decision making. Ensure data is relevant, accurate, and accessible by creating, maintaining, and promoting dashboards (through Tableau) for staff and volunteers.
- Lead on developing and improving new processes and automations to save organisational time and increase supporter engagement. This will include marketing automations such as welcome journeys for members.
- Deliver data selections in a timely manner, utilising insights to improve response, and where appropriate segmenting data. Support teams in developing testing plans to improve future outcomes and provide data insights following the campaigns and recommendations for future.
- Create and maintain processes allowing for self-service of simple or regularly scheduled selections by staff members (currently accessed through Tableau).
- Share responsibility for data imports within the organisation. Provide support as appropriate to the IT team to ensure information flows between our systems (Salesforce, the Data Warehouse, Mail Chimp etc) in an accurate and timely manner.
- Collaborate with the Income and Marketing Department to develop and implement data driven approaches to income generation forecasting and increasing supporter engagement.
- Maintain accurate supporter information in an accessible and secure way through IT systems such as the CRM and Data Warehouse in accordance with data and charity legislation.
This role works within the Income and Marketing Department, and the majority of the work is focused on supporting this Department. The post holder however would be providing support across the organisation and would work very closely with our IT team.
To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required of the post holder by the Ramblers.

Essential:
- Familiarity with a general-purpose programming language ideally Python (majority of processes currently built in Python)

Role outline and purpose
Working as a key link between the Philanthropy team and wider organisational teams, the Philanthropy Content Reporting Manager – Trusts will create specific reporting materials for our key funders.
