Job description

This is a unique finance role in a fast-growing, dynamic charity based in Teddington that would really suit someone who would like to work flexibly in an enthusiastic, innovative team.

We are very happy to be able to vary hours, e.g. to accommodate school hours to support a work/life balance, as long as we achieve the agreed hours per week on average.

Ruils is a charity that supports disabled adults and people with long-term health and/or mental health conditions to live independently, be part of their community and live life to the full. We provide information, advice, practical support, befriending and accessible activities to clients and families. Ruils enables individuals to have choice and control over the way in which they get their support.

We are looking for an experienced Finance professional who will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for the Charity. This will include day-to-day processing, financial and management reporting, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, cashflow, donor reports and Gift Aid. The post holder will provide key business and management expertise to the organisation, working with the wider team to ensure good finance processes are followed and improve efficiency.

You could be:

  • An experienced Bookkeeper looking to grow your experience in Management Accounting
  • A qualified-by-time (QBT) accounting professional looking to use your whole range of skills while working fewer hours
  • An ACCA or CIMA professional looking for a flexible worthwhile role

In any event, the post holder will need an eye for detail, good communication skills and experience of managing money while working in a fast-paced environment. Ruils is happy to assist with further financial training to ensure you have all of the skills required.

Main duties include:

  • Logging supplier invoices and ensuring they are paid on time
  • Raising Ruils sales invoices
  • Carrying out key monthly processes, e.g. bank, petty cash, accounts payable/accounts receivable reconciliations and VAT returns
  • Liaising with the external payroll provider
  • Allocating income and expenditure to the correct project codes
  • Providing the CEO with accurate financial reports for funding monitoring purposes and for preparing monthly management reports, including all variance analyses, aged debtors, balance sheet and revised forecasts, as appropriate
  • Working with the CEO and the Treasurer in preparing relevant financial information for the annual budget and our annual audit
  • Supporting the Fundraising Manager with budgeting for fundraising applications
  • Banking any cheques and/or cash received and creating and submitting Gift Aid returns

You will be:

  • Qualified to AAT or higher or qualified by time in all the aspects of the role above
  • Have a good knowledge of QuickBooks
  • Have good experience of management and financial accounting and monitoring performance against budgets
  • Be skilled in performing complex financial calculations and an expert on Excel
  • Be enthusiastic and involved and keen to experience the variety of working in a busy, thriving charity

For further information and to apply, please visit our website via the Apply button.

We actively encourage applications from disabled people and parents of children/young people with additional needs.

We operate a Guaranteed Interview Scheme in that we will guarantee an interview to all disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria for the post. Please state in a cover letter if you wish us to consider you for this guaranteed interview scheme.
