Reporting to the Head of Development – Student Support, the Senior Development Executive will develop and implement plans to generate major gifts for Student Support with an emphasis on outreach, internships and postgraduate support.
About the Role
- The post holder will be expected to spend the greater part of their time identifying, meeting and stewarding current or prospective donors.
- The post holder will manage a portfolio of more than 100 major gifts prospects. The post holder will be responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of potential donors, typically in the range of £250,000-£1,000,000.
About you
- You are a motivated fundraiser with experience of raising at a minimum six-figure gifts and a keen interest in widening access to Higher Education by gaining support for scholarships and graduate scholarships across a wide range of areas.
- You are highly motivated and will possess a strong drive towards getting out in the field, developing purposeful and effective relationships with prospective benefactors and advancing social mobility through philanthropic investment.

The Department of Physics is one of the top five departments in the world. About the role:
You will be raising money to support research; to enable students from around the world and from every background to come and study at Oxford; and to help promote the public understanding of Physics. You will work closely with the Head of Physics, as well as some of the most inspiring scientists in the world, and will forge relationships with existing and new donors to the department. While an interest in science is essential, you do not need to be a Physics graduate, just an enthusiast for knowledge.

You are an experienced development professional with a strong track record of securing major gifts, a confident approach and the ability to think creatively. You will lead on major gift fundraising (£100k-£1m+) working with a range of donors (corporates, trusts and individuals). The Drive Partnership, formed by Respect, SafeLives and Social Finance, is working to transform the national response to perpetrators of domestic abuse. We seek to change the domestic abuse narrative that asks ‘why doesn’t she leave?’ to ask ‘why doesn’t he stop?’At the same time as delivering interventions, we are working across the domestic abuse specialist sector, public sector partners and beyond to develop sustainable, national systems that respond effectively to perpetrators of domestic abuse.
Our vision is that one day there will be a national approach which sees agencies in all PCC and local authority areas across England and Wales working together with a focus on those who cause harm, the perpetrators, to disrupt abuse and change behaviour.
Our influencing work is changing the UK conversation about domestic abuse, with both national and locally-based elected representatives and the officials and colleagues who work alongside them. Our PPAC Officer, reporting to the PPAC Manager, will be crucial in helping us to develop our engagement, as well as deepen our policy-influencing capacity to support our roll-out of ground-breaking interventions to end domestic abuse and ensure support for the whole family to keep people safe sooner.
You will be joining the organisation at a pivotal moment. The Victims and Prisoners Bill will be making its way through its final stages in Parliament and a General Election is likely to take place in 2024, providing an unmissable opportunity to ensure that SafeLives’ priorities for improving the response to domestic abuse are taken forward by the next Government.

Job Purpose
The purpose of the role is to support and empower low income and ethnic minority young people to enhance their success in career development and progression. The post will lead Babbasa’s young people’s Placement Programme which prepares, places and supports participants to progress into their chosen career (through work taster days, work experience, and training opportunities). About the Youth Endowment Fund
We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.
In recent years violent crime has risen significantly. Homicides, assaults, robberies and offences involving weapons have all seen growth. We have also seen increases in violent crime involving children and young people. This is a tragedy. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them.
The Youth Endowment Fund exists to try and permanently change things. To succeed, we must build a fantastic body of knowledge about violence affecting young people and how we reduce it. This knowledge has to be both rigorous and highly relevant to those making decisions about how to support vulnerable young people. We need to find out what works and what doesn’t through evidence synthesis, data analysis and qualitative research into children’s lives. We then need to convert this into highly accessible content on what works, how delivery organisations need to change their practice and how the systems they operate in need to be reformed.
About the Toolkit team
The Toolkit team is at the heart of our efforts to learn what works and put it into practice. We do this by creating free, highly accessible research summaries and actionable recommendations for policy makers, commissioners and practitioners.
We’re a high-performing team which values intellectual rigour and getting to the truth, compassion for children, ambition about what we can achieve and humility about what we know. We love to discuss the latest developments in research methods, but we’re not just interested in research for its own sake. We want research to lead to actual changes in outcomes for children.
Our team is responsible for a range of activities, including:
- Developing the YEF’s view on the changes that need to happen and making the case for these changes in accessible reports. This could include changes to government policy, improvements to regulation and inspection, or the adoption of evidence-based interventions. For example, we recently published these recommendations on improving support for children when they are arrested. We develop our recommendations using the best available research and expert insight.
- Creating evidence-based guidance for practitioners. We summarise the research on what teachers, police officers, social workers and others can do to keep children safe. For example, we’re currently working on a guidance report for schools.
- Developing the YEF’s funding strategy across our eight focus areas. We make sure our £200m endowment is focused on the evidence gaps that matter and our decisions are based on rigorous research. We identify opportunities to fund research that will have an impact.
- Expanding a new workstream dedicated to understanding the drivers of violence and which children are the most vulnerable. We’ll fund innovative research on the causes of violence and create useful resources that make this research useful and accessible.
- Developing a new workstream of cutting-edge projects looking at how systems of support are working to keep children safe. For example, we’re funding projects examining access to psychological therapy and the role of key workers in effective agency collaboration.
- Communicating the findings from YEF-funded evaluations. We make sure that evaluation insights are accessible to all and lead to an impact on children’s lives.
Key responsibilities
The Senior Research Manager will be an essential part of the YEF team and will develop a portfolio of impactful projects.
This will involve:
- Leading the development of the YEF’s strategy in one or more of our priority areas. This could include policing, youth work, youth justice or psychological therapies. This is a great opportunity to influence large amounts of funding and direct it towards the most impactful projects.
- You’ll become the YEF’s expert in this area. You’ll make sure we understand the key issues, stay on top of the latest research and are connected to the right people.
- You’ll set the YEF’s research agenda for this topic. You’ll make sure we invest in research that fills important gaps in knowledge and leads to important changes. You’ll ensure that our strategy and decision-making are informed by the best available research.
- You’ll develop great relationships with experts and represent YEF in external meetings and events. You’ll promote evidence-based policy and practice by speaking at conferences and events.
- You’ll lead the development of evidence-based recommendations in your focus area. You’ll draw on research and expert insight to identify potential changes. You’ll design and develop innovative and impactful resources which support the application of your recommendations.
- You’ll work with our Change team to identify opportunities for our recommendations to influence policy and practice, and bring about positive changes that will keep children safe.
About you
You are this sort of person:
- You want to play a significant part in reducing the level of violence affecting young people. You care about having an impact. This might mean you’ve worked directly with young people at risk of becoming involved in crime, for organisations that fund or deliver relevant programmes, or have conducted research on this topic.
- You share our belief that an evidence-based approach is our best hope of preventing violence. You’re fascinated by research, but you’re not just interested in research for its own sake. You want to achieve actual changes in outcomes for children.
- You know a lot about at least one of these topics: policing, youth work, youth justice or psychological therapy. You know the key ideas and debates, recent policy developments and key people. You’re comfortable talking about this topic with experts. There are many ways to acquire this knowledge. You might have worked in one of these fields, conducted research on them or learnt about them during a degree.
- You’re a confident reader of research and have strong critical appraisal skills. You know when research can be trusted and when it can’t, and can confidently articulate your views on the strength of research. You might have gained this expertise through your academic studies, research or professional experience.
- You have at least three years’ experience working in a role that required you to think about research. This could include a range of roles in policy, academia, funding or practice.
- You write in a way that people easily understand. You have that rare skill of writing in plain English. You have experience of translating complex research findings into plain writing that everyone can understand.
- You have excellent project and time management skills. You can work independently, quickly and to a high standard. You have experience of managing contractors or budgets.

In this role, you will lead the IDVA team, representing the team in multiagency meetings, managing a case load of service users needing short-term intervention, conducting risk and needs assessments, and providing safety planning for domestic violence survivors. We are searching for a new colleague to join our team of Mental Health Advisers. At Imperial our Mental Health Advisers provide specialist support to students with moderate to severe mental health difficulties. They help students to develop strategies to enable them to continue to engage with their studies and put in place plans to assist with care and support where needed. They act as a liaison between NHS mental health services and university support services. They work to ensure safeguarding concerns are escalated within the Service and follow risk management protocols to protect the safety of our students. A typical day as a Mental Health Adviser will look like:
- Carrying out assessments with students
- Supporting an ongoing caseload of students through delivery of regular appointments
- Multi-disciplinary team meetings and correspondence
- Engaging with staff across the university in supporting students in their caseload
Our Mental Health Advisers also use their skills to advise academic and professional services staff who are supporting students with mental health difficulties. They also help with the design and delivery of mental health awareness training for staff as well life skills training for students.

About the Youth Endowment Fund
We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.
In recent years violent crime has risen significantly. Homicides, assaults, robberies and offences involving weapons have all seen sustained growth. We have also seen large increases in violent crime involving children and young people. This is a tragedy. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them.
The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment and a mission that matters. We exist to prevent children becoming involved in violence. . We do this by funding great initiatives, leading cutting-edge research and working for change - scaling up and spreading the practices that make a difference.
Central to this is designing, commissioning and managing complex and rigorous impact evaluations with experts in the field. As our work and reputation grows, we’re increasingly being presented with opportunities to work on new projects. This is where your role comes in. We’re looking for a new senior staff member to oversee much of this work.
About the role
Your core job is to work with colleagues in the evaluation team to oversee much of the designing, commissioning and managing of complex and rigorous impact evaluations.
You’ll help the Assistant Director of Evaluation to oversee and quality assure many of the impact evaluations that we’ve funded through our thematic grant rounds. These evaluations are mainly randomised control trials and quasi-experimental designs. Each thematic funding round is led by a Senior Evaluation Manager and our excellent team of Evaluation Managers project manage the individual evaluations. You will be on hand to provide them with advice, support and guidance when commissioning and designing new evaluations, working with evaluators, and when they have complex technical queries or challenges arising in their work.In this work, you will report to the Assistant Director of Evaluation who will be your line manager.
In delivering these two tasks you’ll:
- Provide support and counsel to our team of Senior Evaluation Managers and Evaluation Managers. Between them, this team closely manages over 20 pilot studies and over 15 efficacy trials with an annual budget exceeding £2.5m. This role will support our managers to deliver many of these evaluations to the highest possible standard.
- Serve as a senior member of the evaluation team. The YEF is buzzing with activity and to prevent any bottlenecks, we need to expand our senior capacity. This role will involve line managing staff, making technical and budgeting decisions, developing and refining processes, attending leadership meetings and contributing to strategic thinking and planning.
- Represent YEF at governance meetings and other external engagements. We’re passionate about our mission, proud of the work we’re doing to get there and keen to share this with stakeholders. This role will involve talking in detail about our work with lots of different audiences – from gaining approval for funding from our Grants and Evaluation Committee to sharing both technical and non-technical summaries of our evaluations with civil servants, charity leaders and staff, academics and practitioners.
- Oversee the running and management of complex evaluations commissioned through our Themed Grant Rounds - for each of the programmes we work with, we find and appoint independent evaluators. This role will oversee our Senior Evaluation Managers and Evaluation Managers leading on that process, as they write invitations to tender and assess proposals to ensure we find the best team for each job.
- Oversee the management and quality assurance of evaluations through our Themed Grant Rounds acting as a source of expertise for the rest of the team. YEF has set processes to maintain high standards and rigour. This role will ensure all evaluations adhere to these. The role will provide technical expertise and insights, alongside the Assistant Director of Evaluation to ensure that the evaluation team are empowered to ensure evaluators deliver against their proposals and do so to time and budget.
- Expertly manage relationships with YEF stakeholders. You will be a key point of liaison with our panel of independent evaluators. You will also be involved in cultivating relationships with other partners including individuals, organisations and departments that want to protect young people as much as we do, and that have both the will and the means to do so.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior, qualified finance professional with extensive demonstrable experience in charity accounting (or similar) to join a value driven organisation who wants to support more people who require specialist palliative and end of life care.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be a highly competent, diligent, and compassionate individual with prior expertise in a senior finance position in either the charity sector, the NHS or similar organisation. Having strong values, you will be comfortable living and demonstrating our values of Kindness, Respect, Positivity, Togetherness, Openness, and Innovation.
You will lead the Finance Team, managing all accounting and financial activities within the charity, and ensuring ongoing financial viability. You will be a confident people manager with a proven ability to provide inspirational leadership and to contribute to the daily running and future strategic direction of the charity as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
The role will have a shared corporate responsibility for leadership, strategic planning and financial management and will be involved in liaising with and influencing external stakeholders as required.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with current membership of a recognised accountancy body, and will be educated to degree-level, or possess equivalent financial qualifications.
You will have extensive management experience, including substantial participation at Board level, and will be experienced in business planning and budget setting at a senior level. You will be competent in developing and implementing financial strategy and will possess a sound knowledge of understanding of accounting and taxation.

Job title: Employment and Integration Adviser
Location: Travelling to our London office in Aldwych at least 2 days a week

Purpose of the role:
We are looking for candidates with experience of supporting individuals with barriers to work into paid employment. Within this role you will carry a significant responsibility, managing a caseload of clients from a refugee background and supporting them in securing meaningful employment, training, and education opportunities.
You will provide one-to-one personalised support, delivering quality Information Advice and Guidance (IAG), alongside ongoing support to ensure your clients have all the skills they need to get into work and succeed in the workplace. This involves collaborating with clients to produce individual support plans with clear goals and actions to overcome identified needs and barriers and provide a clear pathway towards the labour market.
You will work with clients online and by phone, as well as in person to monitor their progress towards their goals. You will also work with our volunteers, who are trained in delivering employment support and provide complementary support. You will book weekly appointments for clients, allocating time slots according to volunteer availability and specialisation.
You will also collaborate with specialist referral partners to support clients to overcome complex barriers to employment.
