We are seeking an exceptional person with a legal, policy or digital rights campaigning background to work with us furthering privacy and free speech in the UK (principally, challenging facial recognition surveillance and scrutinising counter-disinformation powers) at one of the UK’s leading rights NGOs.
The right Advisor will help us to lobby UK Parliament to further privacy, free expression and data protection rights; advise on important litigation on human rights and technology; and help guide public advocacy campaigns for real change.
The contract will also cover the party conference season, where the Advisor will help position Big Brother Watch as an influential force on our key issues in a strictly cross-party manner.
The contract may require some spokesperson duties. The Advisor will help to cover an organisational capacity gap during staff sabbatical leave.

Legal Counsel

About the Team:
The Global Assurance Team at WaterAid reports directly to the Chief Executive of WaterAid UK, with an independent reporting line to the Audit and Risk Committee. The team is made up of the following functions: Legal and Governance, Data Protection, Fundraising Compliance, Global Ethical Standards, and Internal Audit. The team is line-managed by the Global Assurance Director.
About the Role:
As our Legal Counsel you will report to the Head of Legal and support them in providing legal support to WaterAid in the UK.
In this role, you will provide sound and pragmatic legal advice to all levels of the organisation.
You'll also:
- Review and help to negotiate existing and new contracts, in particular supplier contracts and grant agreements, recognising and responding to the risks;
- contribute to the development and training of colleagues to drive best practise in contract management;
- respond to legal queries from across WaterAid; and
- maintain and develop the legal resources including agreement templates.
About You:
You will be a qualified solicitor (English law) with 2+ years PQE,
To be successful, you'll need:
- A combination of commercial and contract law experience gained in-house or in a pro-active private practice environment
- A proactive approach to identifying legal risks and providing pragmatic and balanced solutions, managing expectations;
- To display high ethical standards and maintain confidentiality at all times; and
- The ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure and supportively but assertively hold senior managers to account.
Although not essential, we also prefer you to have:
- Awareness of relevant Charity and Company law and knowledge of best practice.
- Knowledge of the workings of the Charities Commission and the Fundraising Regulator.
- Experience in providing high-quality customer service to a diverse range of customers.

The Senior Accountant (Financial Control) post can be based in either the London or Manchester office. This role is in the central Financial Accounting and Control Team (FACT). In addition to being DCMS’ financial accounting Centre of Excellence, the team leads in the production of the consolidated accounts of the DCMS Group (with 34 of its 42 Arms Length Bodies directly consolidated) and manages the National Lottery Distribution Fund. The Clean Air Fund is looking to recruit a Legal counsel to join their team in finance and operations department. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing organisation whose mission is to use philanthropic grants to catalyse a reduction in air pollution.
As a Legal counsel with Clean Air Fund you would help to work closely with CAF’s Senior Leadership Team to ensure CAF complies with its required legal and funder obligations and to advise on all CAF contracts which primarily constitute grants. The role brings legal expertise to offer expert solution-focused input across a wide range of issues to ensure that as CAF grows rapidly and robustly.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- UK qualified solicitor

The Policy and Public Affairs (PAPA) team is part of the Strategy and Knowledge Directorate at the NSPCC. The Directorate exists to help shape the world around us - and what the NSPCC does - so that it reflects what we have learned and can help keep children safe from abuse.
The PAPA team works across the four nations of the UK to influence legislation, policy and practice to ensure they are as effective as possible in keeping children safe. We focus on policy priorities through our five core workstreams: the child protection system and children's social care; early years and health; child sexual abuse; online safety; and young victims and witnesses.
We are recruiting a Senior Policy Research Officer to develop and deliver our early years and health policy work to deliver real change and reform in the best interests of children.
The post holder will work in the UK/England part of the Policy and Affairs Team focussed on influencing the Westminster Government. An exciting opportunity has arisen at the National Housing Federation (NHF) for a Policy Leader (Finance Policy).
The NHF is the voice of housing associations in England. We are the trade body to almost 600 housing associations, who have grown from philanthropic roots to provide 2.6 million homes to around 6 million people.
This role is a crucial and exciting one within our policy team and the wider organisation. You will use your knowledge and understanding of housing associations and their finances to build strong relationships with Finance Directors across our membership, and use their and your specialist knowledge to shape the financial environment so that housing associations can best deliver on their social purpose.

Role Description
The Peter Sowerby Foundation is a significant, charitable grant-maker, supporting work in the fields of health, education and community, the arts and the environment.
Registered with the Charity Commission in 2011, the Foundation aims to fulfil the charitable aims of its late settlor, Dr Peter Sowerby, who was a retired GP from rural North Yorkshire and founding partner in Egton Medical Information Systems (EMIS), which now provides database and records management software for over 10,000 healthcare organisations in the UK.
The Foundation is currently managed by a board of four Trustees. These include David Aspinall, Chair of Trustees; Dr David Stables, Peter Sowerby’s former GP partner and an expert in management information systems; Sara Siegel Poulios, lead partner in Deloitte’s Healthcare Strategy who has been seconded to senior positions in the Department of Health and NHS, and Dr Carole Longson, Chief Scientific Officer at the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI).
Since it was established in 2013, the Foundation has awarded hundreds of grants. Some of these have been small grants to local, grass-roots organisations, whilst others have been to large, well-established charities and educational institutions. In total, the Foundation has awarded c. £15 million in grants since inception.
The Foundation currently receives grant solicitation and directorial support, under contract, from Cause4 and an outsourced finance function provided by FLB Accountants.
The Foundation is currently seeking a new Administrator to the Board.
The Administrator will provide an efficient support and administrative service to the Board (especially the Chair) by providing co-ordination for grant execution, board administration and governance compliance.
Other duties will include supporting administrative duties as required by the Trustees and their advisers.
Specific Responsibilities:
Governance
· Supporting the Chair and trustees in ensuring that the charity law and regulatory requirements of reporting and public accountability are complied with.
· Ensuring that the Foundation’s internal governance policies are comprehensive and regularly reviewed in accordance with Charity Commission guidelines.
Administration
· Coordinating Board meetings.
