The Head of Finance will manage the high-performing finance team consisting of a Management Accountant, Assistant Accountant and Finance Business Partner. Sitting in the Business and Resources Directorate the team are instrumental to the successful running of the RCR. In this role you will be responsible for the operational finance function which handles accounting, financial reporting, planning and transactional activities as well as supporting longer-term strategic planning.
As a finance professional you will use your expertise to further support the RCR by delivering the organisations financial objectives and build strong working relationships with managers to equip them with the tools to make good financial decisions. The Senior Accountant (Financial Control) post can be based in either the London or Manchester office. This role is in the central Financial Accounting and Control Team (FACT). Key responsibilities of the Senior Accountant (Financial Control) will include:
- Management and delivery of robust financial policies, controls, processes and systems.

About this role
The role of the Finance and Payroll Manager is to support the Development and Finance teams to manage and report on restricted income, as well as to manage monthly in-house payroll under the guidance of the Head of Finance. This involves ensuring that we are maximising the use of restricted funding, and that money is spent in line with donors’ wishes and that staff are paid accurately and on time each month. The Finance and Payroll Manager will work within a small Finance team under the supervision of the Head of Finance. With headquarters in London, the role is offered on a hybrid basis – with 2 days per week required onsite. The charity has a turnover of around £7 million, with approximately 80 staff. - To manage the monthly reporting process for the Group as a whole, to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results to the Head of Finance, Budget Holders, the Executive Board, and Trustees, including operating result, projects, capital, risks and opportunities.
- Coordinate the review of actual and forecast results against budget, obtaining and recording variance explanations, identifying material issues and mitigating actions.
- To lead the annual budget process and quarterly forecasts for the group, including agreement of an overall framework and communication with budget holders.
- Coordinate the preparation of budget schedules (revenue, capital and projects) and consolidation of the budget pack for presentation to the Executive, Finance Committee, and the main Trustee board.

The successful candidate will be a part/fully qualified accountant. They will have comprehensive experience/technical skills in the areas of financial accounting, management accounting and balance sheet analysis in a multi-currency environment. The role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a lively, dynamic and driven fundraising events team. Over the last decade, Breast Cancer Now has built up a strong events function, with community and events currently accounting for nearly a quarter of the charity’s overall voluntary income.
We are now looking for an experienced and passionate events manager to lead a team and help us to continue to deliver our targets and identify new opportunities for our challenge events portfolio. This currently comprises of running events, triathlons, cycling events, overseas and UK challenges. You’ll support the creation and delivery of the events strategy, developing a varied and impactful portfolio which positions Breast Cancer Now as the go-to charity for events.
With the support of the senior events manager, the post holder will be responsible for the delivery of the Great North Run and Women V Cancer partnership. The post holder will also have their own budget areas working to agreed targets, maximising income, and minimising expenditure through innovative stewardship and strong budget management to maintain engagement and retention of supporters. They will also have line management (not all direct) for 1 event officer, 1 event executive and 1 event assistant.
About you
We’re looking for someone with experience of successfully delivering events programmes, including recruitment of participants, development of supporter journeys and stewardship communications to meet net income and supporter retention targets.
You’ll be an excellent relationship builder, with knowledge of the charity events sector. You’ll be an experienced line manager able to develop your line reports. You’ll also have demonstrable knowledge of setting and meeting financial targets to ensure a good return of investment for the charity.
As well as leading a high performing team we are looking for someone with experience of successfully delivering marketing and recruitment plans, developing supporter journeys and stewardship communications. You’ll be experienced in delivering charity events and possess outstanding organisational, communication and marketing skills. You’ll need to have built excellent relationships with third party event organisers, tour operators and suppliers to the overall benefit of your organisation.
