We’re looking for a Senior Policy Advisor to join our policy and campaigns team to help drive our position as an influential, informed and powerful voice for change. The post holder will join a high performing team to help develop and implement policy and influencing strategies that drive change, ensuring a strong voice for people experiencing poverty. You will work closely with the Director of Policy & Campaigns, developing our policy work on Social Security, housing and poverty and influencing decision-makers and other stakeholders including MPs, political advisors, councillors and civil society.

We are looking for someone committed and proactive with demonstrable knowledge and experience of policy development and making the case for social policy change. You will be committed to social justice and will have experience of policy analysis and public affairs work in relevant social policy areas, particularly social security. We are looking for an analytical thinker with excellent verbal and written communications skills. You will have an aptitude for using evidence to make persuasive and credible policy arguments, strong interpersonal skills, and a track record of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with external stakeholders. We are looking for a confident, big picture policy expert to work alongside the Director of Policy & Communications and lead our ambitious policy team to deliver impact. You will take evidence from the field and lab to the heart of governments across the UK, influencing change through science.

You will play a key role in the team's direction and have demonstrable knowledge of environmental policy, and established leadership and communication experience.

About the role

Reporting to our Director of Policy and Communications, the Senior Policy Manager will:

• Identify key areas of policy focus where the BES is uniquely able to add value to national conversations around biodiversity and climate.
• Direct the work of Policy Officers to deliver the BES policy strategic aims and objectives, and work collaboratively with the Policy Committee.
• Help identify and convene key stakeholders from the ecological community, including academics, eNGOs, policy makers, funders, and landowners and managers, to discuss, debate and coalesce around recommendations.
• Oversee our policy reports at both a national and UK level, working with authors and contributors to deliver publications that move a debate on and are resonant to their audiences.
• Organise events for ecological and policy audiences, independently and in partnership with other organisations, to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration.
• Track legislation and policies at the devolved, national and international levels and identify opportunities for BES input and influence.

This new role will work across varied charity management projects to help set up a new UK office for a fast growing medical INGO that has already treated over 13 million patients across Africa!

It will include leading on a broad range of projects that support the set up and management of the UK registered office and will require working autonomously while being part of an experienced and supportive team. Role Context

ALIMA UK is in its start-up phase and is made up of a small team. This period is exciting at times unpredictable.  We need someone reliable who enjoys and has a proven track record of leading and delivering on operational projects for a business or charity while working with senior stakeholders. They should be a highly organised self-starter who is able to work autonomously and lead on projects as well as a great team player.

The role is varied and has a significant financial element, so strong numerical skills and good written communication skills are both important as well as a flexible, responsible approach. Ideally they will also have experience of, and good knowledge of, the charity sector in the UK.

This role is posted as a one year contract as the needs of the business are changing as the organisation develops. At the end of the year the needs of ALIMA will be reviewed and there may be scope to further shape the role, depending on the needs of the business and funding available at the time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

• Driving and implementing a varied range of projects that support the smooth set-up of the UK charity, in collaboration with the UK Head of Development 
• Virtual Office Management, including organising cloud based filing systems, managing resources including IT, coordinating information collection 

 FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

• Working with the Head of Development & Chair to create and develop new financial management systems for the charity
• Ongoing management of the financial systems of the charity including bookkeeping, invoice management and basic reporting
• Working with colleagues to produce financial reports for the Board, donors and others on request

About the role 
As Crisis’ Senior Media Officer, you will play a key role in delivering stand-out media campaigns that inspire the public and politicians to join our fight to end homelessness by raising awareness of our influencing campaigns and fundraising events. You will help to build Crisis’ profile by bringing to life our work, demonstrating how we end people’s homelessness for good through education, training and support with housing, employment, and health.

Your role will be creative and varied. You’ll work with our frontline staff to identify people facing homelessness who want to share their story and empower them to do so. You’ll help create hard-hitting news stories that engage our audiences and raise awareness of some of Crisis’ biggest organisational campaigns including our annual Christmas appeal. You will also help make the most of reactive opportunities that come through to our press office and help build relationships with key journalists.

About you 
To be successful in this role you will have: 

• Experience of working within a busy press office environment/ PR agency or as a journalist   

• Proven experience of leading on high-profile audience focused media strategies or pitching stories which secure coverage across news, consumer, online and regional media. 

• Proven experience of managing and maintaining good relationships with internal and external stakeholders including journalists at all levels.   

• Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft copy for a range of audiences, including political, consumer, tabloid, trade and everything in between. 

• Excellent news sense, with a strong working knowledge of the UK media and ability to develop relationships with key media contacts.

INTRODUCTION TO THE ROLE

Girls Not Brides is seeking an experienced digital communications professional to manage the Girls Not Brides website in English, French and Spanish, including website development, maintenance, continuous improvement planning, infrastructure, architecture, and user journey. You will be responsible for implementing a website improvement project and a new members area. This role will also be responsible for developing and producing performance data, evaluation, and reporting across our digital channels. We are looking for someone who has a passion for managing websites, using data to improve performance and engagement, and using digital platforms to drive movements. The successful applicant will support across our digital channels. This role sits in the Communications Team and reports to the Communications Manager. You will work closely with external website developers to deliver a website that showcases Girls Not Brides and our role as the global movement to end child marriage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Girls Not Brides website (70%)

• Lead the development and implementation of the website improvement strategy and project plan, with support from the Communications Manager.
• Recommend and manage changes to the website architecture, front-end design, features, integrations, and user-journey improvements.
• Manage the day-to-day of activity of Girls Not Brides website, including uploading content in 3 languages (English, French and Spanish), optimising content for web, updating static pages when needed, and recommending updates and upgrades to the CMS.
• Responsible for managing website projects, including the upgrade, update and support and maintenance pipeline, as well as larger-scale changes to website functionality and architecture, managing external contractors to produce the work required on time and within budget.
• Research and implementing best-practices for search engine optimisation (SEO) across website copy and architecture.
• Produce and manage a clear, well-documented approach to web analytics, producing regular reports, monitoring user behaviour and website traffic, carrying out benchmarking, identifying KPIs and providing actionable insights.
• Support content writing for the website, including writing website copy and blog posts.

We're looking for a Senior Project Officer, to work in our Innovation and Practice team and support exemplary, agile project management across Involve. 

This is an exciting time to join the Involve team. Alongside increasing public and political interest in our approaches, we are increasing the size and impact of our project work. We have a couple of new multifaceted projects which need really effective and agile project management. As a Senior Project Officer you will contribute to all aspects of our delivery, with a particular focus on project and programme management of larger projects. Your main focus will be on:

• Project management and delivery - core project management and logistics, running onboarding for participants, event management, analysis and reporting, and facilitation

• Building our project management approach further - supporting Involve to build our project management capacity and resources that are appropriate for our creative, inclusive processes and culture

• Project and programme design - working with project teams to design entire projects and processes which use deliberative, qualitative and participatory methods

This Senior Project Officer role sits in our Innovation and Practice Function. Our team’s daily work includes setting up, managing, designing, delivering and reporting on a wide range of participatory and deliberative processes, ranging from small scale, hyper-local community engagements to large, national, multi-event Citizens’ Assemblies and longer term projects. Our processes can be face to face, hybrid, or online, and often involve bringing together different groups from within the public with interested parties and experts from across government, business , academia and civil society.

In addition, you would work closely with our Capacity Building and Standards team to support their work helping others to deliver these approaches and contribute to our communications and advocacy work. You will also support fundraising for grants and projects, responding to tenders and writing proposals and building relationships with our funders, collaborators and clients. 

We are looking for an excellent project manager, able to manage fairly large projects and task manage others at all levels to ensure smooth delivery. You will be great at managing relationships at all levels and working with others to get things done. Given the nature of our work we are also looking for public participation skills, or relevant or transferable expertise and an understanding of deliberative practice. That will enable you to design and deliver project management, and support facilitation that fits our work and enables you to contribute to advising our clients on designing and delivering effective engagement. It is critical that you are open to new ideas, a good team player, committed to shifting power and addressing inequities in our society and that you are passionate about furthering our vision. Experience of building project management capacity, fundraising and staff management is desirable. 

Salary band: £38,975 - £43,584

Location: Flexible. Must be comfortable with committing to regular travel both for project work and Involve team activities. Must be able to travel across the UK.

About the role 

As Senior Campaigns and Public Affairs officer, you will be responsible for the shaping Crisis’ political influencing strategies for our national campaigns.

Through our research of what works both in the UK and internationally, and our work supporting thousands of people who are homeless or at risk each year, Crisis has developed the solutions needed from Westminster Government to reverse the rising levels of homelessness and we campaign to secure the policy changes needed. With the right political will and leadership, homelessness can be ended.

This role will oversee design and delivery of creative public affairs tactics that will inspire politicians to support our campaigns. This includes overseeing our work to provide the secretariat for the APPG for Ending Homelessness, managing our monitoring and stakeholder relationships and proactively identifying local and regional influencing opportunities.

The role sits within the Campaigns Team in the Policy and Social Change directorate, but you’ll collaborate with a wide range of teams across the organisation to identify influencing opportunities, ensure our campaigns and public affairs activity have maximum reach and ensure people with lived experience are at the heart of our political influencing activity.

About you 

You will have significant experience of working with politicians in Parliament or Government and will have experience of designing and delivering political influencing strategies to secure policy change.  To be successful in this role you will have solid understanding of Parliamentary process and have worked on a range of tactics to raise the profile of issues in Parliament, with excellent political judgement and intuition.

Effective communication and ability to manage a range of internal and external stakeholders will be vital in this role in order to work collaboratively to further our campaigning objectives. You will have good ability to understand policy solutions and how best to communicate them to a range of audiences. Line management experience is desirable, but more crucially you will have experience of motivating teams or individuals to deliver results.

Understanding or knowledge of homelessness or housing policy is desirable. You may have experience in; public affairs, policy, communications and public relations.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Fundraising Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the Income and Partnerships Development team. This person will be reporting to the Head of Partnerships and will coordinate all fundraising activities and volunteers from our alumni, sponsor firms and SEO London supporters. This will be a hands-on role that includes project management, teamwork, reporting and a proactive approach to fundraising initiatives. Additionally, responsibilities include the preparation of cases for support for funding applications and providing guidance for proposal drafting. Furthermore, the role involves maintaining and reporting on funding requirements, encompassing impact reports, milestones, and renewals. 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Further Develop and Implement Fundraising Strategies: Work closely with the Head of Partnerships to further develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies. Execute fundraising plans to achieve income targets and ensure long-term sustainability.
• Grant Writing and Proposal Development: Research and identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, government organisations and other donor oganisations. Prepare grant expressions of interest, proposals and applications that effectively communicate the need for our work and SEO London’s mission, programmes, and impact.
• Fundraising Events Management: Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events, including F1 challenges, Royal Parks Half Marathon and any other fundraising activities. Oversee all aspects of event logistics, marketing, sponsorship, and volunteer coordination.
• Fundraising Volunteers Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of volunteer interactions and contributions using excel and other tools. Volunteers to include sponsor firm reps, alumni, our students and other SEO London supporters. Generate reports and analytics to track fundraising progress and campaign effectiveness.
• Reporting: Maintain meticulous records of all funder reporting obligations and milestones, ensuring accurate documentation and timely submissions of reports. Accurately recording and tracking donor contributions, pledges, and grants received.
• Marketing and communication: Work closely with the marketing and communication team to raise awareness of fundraising activities through campaigns on social media and other marketing campaigns. 
• Collaboration and Teamwork: Work collaboratively with programmes leads, finance team, marketing  and alumni team, to engage firm volunteers, alumni, students and SEO London staff to have a big splash as to our fundraising activity. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, fundraising, business administration, or a related field. 

Candidates without a degree will be considered if they have at least 2 years relevant and relatable work experience in a similar role. 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for applicants who have at least 2 years demonstrable experience in some of the following areas and will be willing to learn and develop others: 

• Experience in fundraising, grant writing or related roles within the nonprofit sector. 
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.

The Senior Accountant (Financial Control) post can be based in either the London or Manchester office. This role is in the central Financial Accounting and Control Team (FACT). In addition to being DCMS’ financial accounting Centre of Excellence, the team leads in the production of the consolidated accounts of the DCMS Group (with 34 of its 42 Arms Length Bodies directly consolidated) and manages the National Lottery Distribution Fund. The team is the hub for all financial operational and control functions including treasury management, VAT, purchase to pay support and manages the relationship with DCMS’ shared services provider. The DCMS Finance team is relatively small and this provides opportunities for development not always found in a bigger department.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Accountant (Financial Control) will include:

• Management and delivery of robust financial policies, controls, processes and systems.
• Management of the core department’s key finance system (Integra) and the relationship with the department’s shared service provider.
• Overseeing the payment process for suppliers via Purchase to Pay (P2P), including prompt payment monitoring and reporting.
• Lead on the preparation of the DCMS core accounts.

The successful Senior Accountant (Financial Control) will have:

• Qualified financial accountant (CCAB, CIMA or equivalent) with demonstrable post qualifying experience in a large finance team

• Experience of managing or using financial systems and advanced knowledge of Excel

What the job involves

We’re looking for a Senior Black Health Equity Engagement Officer to join us in a newly created role in our Black Health Equity Team alongside a Black Health Equity Engagement Officer.

The team will support our community engagement function to build trust and engagement with Black community organisations and leaders across the UK. The purpose being to increase the awareness in Black communities of the risk of prostate cancer and to narrow the health inequalities faced by Black men.

As a Senior Black Health Equity Engagement Officer, you'll be responsible for managing the operational aspects of our charity's Black Men's Health Advisory Group. This includes scheduling meetings, planning agendas, and ensuring effective communication within the group to gather insights, support, and guidance. You'll actively engage with various groups, organisations, and networks within Black communities, building trusting relationships to spread awareness of prostate cancer. Additionally, you’ll also identify and establish ways to build strategic relationships with grassroots organisations who are best placed to deliver work and increase its impact.

You’ll help to build an understanding and knowledge of ways in which health inequalities impact Black men affected by prostate cancer (including their families) and be able to provide expert advice and partner with teams across the charity to help to tackle health inequalities.

You'll develop work plans, measure impact, and ensure that the lived experiences of Black communities shape our work. Additionally, you'll work with colleagues to increase our number of Black volunteers to help make a bigger difference in communities.

What we want from you

We’re looking for candidates who understand health inequalities and are able to explain how they may impact Black men affected by prostate cancer. Knowledge of, or previous involvement in health awareness initiatives would be beneficial for this role, although we also value transferable skills gained from other sectors.

You’ll have experience in organising meetings or events that cater to a diverse range of participants, ensuring that various perspectives are heard and valued, especially within Black communities. You’ll ensure their lived experiences shapes any proposed solutions.

You’ll be an excellent communicator and comfortable presenting to a wide range of audiences and show credibility to those at senior levels and external stakeholders and partners. You’ll also be able to work will with a mix of teams and work together to develop and coordinate plans to benefit Black communities and raising awareness.

Please note that community events often take place on evenings or weekends – the successful candidate will need to work flexibly to attend c. one weekend event a month and take time back mid-week.
