Working closely with our Directors and Senior Management Team, you will lead the effective management of 10GM’s finances, systems, HR, and contracting. This is a pivotal role at the heart of the organisation, ensuring we remain financially robust and operationally sound.

A substantial part of this role will focus on maintaining strong financial operations and compliance, while also overseeing the systems and processes that enable our staff and partners to deliver effectively. You will also play a key role in supporting sustainability and growth by contributing to budgets, forecasts, and new business development

You will need to be a self-starter with excellent financial management skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to balance multiple priorities. You will also need excellent organisational and communication skills, and a good knowledge of compliance and governance within the VCSE sector.

• £42,839 per annum FTE. (NJC Scale Point 32).
• Full time, 37 hours per week (less than full time may be possible, through negotiation).

• This is a hybrid role. Though you can work from home most of the time, you'll regularly be required to travel across Greater Manchester.

About Waves

Demos is leading the largest trial of digital democracy in Britain. 

Trust in politics and politicians is in crisis. Only 24% of people trust politicians to make decisions in the best interests of the country. Polarisation is increasing. At the same time, people want to be involved in the public policy decisions that affect them. 

Waves is a €1 million project trialling new technology in local democracy, launched to bring people together to tackle contentious local issues and strengthen trust in local government. Thousands of local people will have the opportunity to shape local government policy on an issue affecting their area.

New AI-powered technology is intended to make it easier, cheaper and quicker for participants to have their say, identify areas of consensus, discuss difficult issues and work through trade-offs together. 

We are working in partnership with two trailblazing councils who are both embracing the opportunity to put the public at the heart of their policy making. The trial will begin in the London Borough of Camden to co-develop an approach to adult social care. The trial will then move on to South Staffordshire District Council as they develop an inclusive engagement process to prepare for their next local plan. The partners will also support a further 25 councils to observe and learn from the process so that they too can use the tools in the future.

About the role 

We are looking for an experienced programme manager who can steer Waves from now until it completes in December 2026. 

You would be joining the programme at a pivotal time as we move from the ‘set-up’ and ‘co-design’ phases of the first 6-months, to the start of the first of our two trials running sequentially over the next 11 months, before moving to a final ‘impact phase’ of dissemination of our toolkits, technology and learning in the final 6 months.

Programme management of Waves means ensuring that the whole project stays on track – on time and on budget – throughout its delivery. There are 5 partners, a number of suppliers and many moving parts, so it is critical that we find someone who can work across the whole programme, anticipating who needs to do what and by when, and ensuring that the programme is delivered successfully so we can draw learnings from it to share widely across the local government, democracy, and tech sectors. 

It is worth bearing in mind that Waves is a ‘test and learn’ trial of a new deliberative democratic process using existing and new technology. Therefore, the team is committed to learning from the project and being comfortable with the uncertainty of not knowing exactly what the outcomes are going to be. 

What you'll need to be sucessful

The types of knowledge, skills and experience we are looking for are below. We welcome a range of applications which include at least some of these attributes.

• Demonstrable experience managing an equivalent programme in terms of complexity, scale and partners with a solid understanding of project management methods.
• Understanding and commitment to the mission of the programme – motivated to tackle issues of low trust in democracy among UK citizens with digital democratic platforms and deliberative processes a crucial part of the solution.
• Team management, interpersonal and communication skills – ability to lead and motivate a team with diverse skills and priorities to deliver a programme of great complexity and uncertainty, including fostering collaboration and trust, managing conflicts, maintaining transparency and empowering different partners to perform effectively.
• Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills – the ability to align activities with overall programme objectives, making informed decisions based on programme lead and partner inputs and, where possible, data and analysis, and drive the programme towards successful outcomes. 
• Ability to identify potential risks, develop mitigation strategies and manage issues that may arise during the programme lifecycle – ideally in an innovation context, one working with diverse partners with different ways of working or when using technology/ conducting trials with the public.
• An interest in, and comfort working with, innovative technologies that utilise AI and collect data, as well as an understanding of the risks and sensitivities surrounding the use of AI, among the public and within the public sector.
• Experience of owning and managing a large-scale budget, conducting calculations when there are changes from the plan, and maintaining clear and robust tracking of expenditure to ensure financial accountability.
• Demonstrable ability to adapt to changing circumstances, solve problems creatively and maintain momentum and energy during challenging situations.
• Highly collaborative, with a commitment to teamwork and inclusivity.

About the role

Reporting in to the Head of Impact, the Humanitarian Lead for the Asia region will play a lead role in setting up new emergency programmes as well as managing existing emergency response programmes across Christian Aid programmes globally but with a primary focus on an agreed set of countries to maximise impact. 

The post-holder will will ensure Christian Aid’s people-centred humanitarian reform advocacy agenda is energetically communicated in relevant regional and country policy forums, so that the humanitarian sector regionally takes visible steps toward more people-centred and locally led humanitarian programming and aligns with organisational values and goals. 

Some of the key responsibilities of the role of Humanitarian Lead are:

• Manage and collaborate on new and existing humanitarian and emergency response programmes internally and externally to maximise impact.
• Manage staff and ensure they perform to a high standard, meeting their objectives with activities integrated with the Country Teams, aligning with organisational values and goals.
• Active engagement in Country Leadership Teams ensuring Christian Aid’s humanitarian mandate is integrated within the wider country strategies in line with “Standing Together”.

• Manage our partners and ensure MCC staff are confident in, committed to and inspired by Christian Aid’s humanitarian signature focus on anticipatory action, cash transfer programming and survivor-led response to maximise impact.
• Deliver technical expertise through collaboration from within and outside Christian Aid is effectively engaged ensuring high quality programming.

The focus of this role is to provide administrative support to ensure back-office functions are efficient and timely. Pay and conditions.

Specific responsibilities

An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:

• To sort HES inbound post, ensuring items are passed to the correct team or staff member.
• To coordinate HES outbound post requests, collating and printing information to send to households.
• To speak to households by telephone and triage households to appropriate HES projects.
• To book home visits for advisors and retrofit assessors, keeping calendars up to date with appointments, cancellations, and amendments. Accurately completing the home visits risk assessment when required.
• To assist with householder applications for grants and other funding schemes. Contacting clients to complete forms or collate paperwork or electronic evidence.
• To record client details and follow HES team guidance documents to assess the help and support needed.
• To update our client databases and other contact management systems accurately.
• Support the internal and external training programmes, such as booking inductions for new starters, distributing training materials after training sessions and making sure evaluations are completed.
• Help provide HR support for HES staff, through processing annual leave requests or sending appraisal reminders.
• Oversee the smooth running of HES processes, such as the complaints procedure or keep track of subscription packages.
• Maintain stocks of leaflets, factsheets, freepost envelopes, and similar items, including organising printing where needed.
• Take minutes during team meetings and share any actions.

The LN comprises 30+ staff working as part of a single team operating across the Methodist Church in Britain. The team is strategically and collaboratively managed by Learning and Development Managers (LDMs), each having responsibility for a number of Learning and Development Officers (LDO) working within a geographical area. Responsibilities of the Learning Development Manager include:

• strategic shared leadership of the LN

The Role

Social prescribing link workers will work as a key part of the primary care network (PCN) multi-disciplinary team. Social prescribing can help PCNs to strengthen community and personal resilience and reduces health and wellbeing inequalities by addressing the wider determinants of health, such as debt, poor housing and physical inactivity, by increasing people’s active involvement with their local communities. It particularly works for people with long term conditions (including support for mental health), for people who are lonely or isolated, or have complex social needs which affect their wellbeing.

Responsibilities include:

• Working with direct supervision from the Programme Lead/Senior Link Worker and input from the PCN’s Clinical Lead GP, take referrals from staff in GP practices within the local PCN.
• Provide personalised support to individuals, their families and carers to take control of their health and wellbeing, live independently and improve their health outcomes, as a key member of the PCN multi-disciplinary team.
• Developing trusting relationships and taking a holistic approach, based on the person’s priorities and co-produce a simple personalised care and support plan to improve health and wellbeing, introducing or reconnecting people to community groups and statutory services.
• Work collaboratively with all local partners to contribute towards supporting local community groups and organisations, making themselves aware of local resources and “assets” through mapping and then building a relationship with these organisations.  Also sharing intelligence regarding any gaps or problems identified in local provision with commissioners and local authorities. 
• Social prescribing link workers will work collaboratively with GP’s and have a role in promoting social prescribing and educating non-clinical and clinical staff within their PCN multi-disciplinary teams on the benefits of social prescribing
• Raise awareness of other services available within the community and how and when patients can access them. Linking into the work of Neighbourhood Network Schemes, locality Adult Social Care & Community Mental Health Teams.

About You

As a Social Prescribing Link Worker, you will have a Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (Health & Social Care, Health Trainer, Health Improvement, Community Family Worker, Psychology) or be working towards/willing to work towards.

You will have:

• Demonstrable commitment to professional and personal development
• Experience of working directly in a community based context (including unpaid work)
• Experience of supporting people with a mental health need and or complexities/vulnerabilities
• Experience of delivering one to one support
• Experience of partnership/collaborative working and of building relationships across a variety of organisations
