About the role:
This is a maternity cover opportunity for a valued role in our Senior Leadership Team. This position is critical to our work in training healthcare professionals to understand how the law applies to practice. You will be delivering our ambitious plans to take our training service to the next level at this critical time, with support of our two brilliant training co-ordinators and a wider team of associate trainers. You will balance overseeing some exciting new projects whilst ensuring quality delivery of our training to meet our income targets.

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience

About the position
The Just Energy Transition and Natural Resources programme is focused on advancing human rights in business, in support toa fast and fair transition to clean energy and zero carbon economies. We seek to promote human rights across the renewable energy and batteries value chain. We are focused on mining for transition minerals, the installation of renewable energy where the fast transition is increasingly endangered by companies’ poor human rights record and policies, the lack of investor due diligence, and the absence of adequate regulation. A just transition will be one that, at minimum, ensures respect for human rights, fair negotiations, and shared prosperity with workers and communities.
The successful candidate will help lead strategic research and analysis on the renewable energy value chain from a corporate accountability perspective. This will include generating new insights and propositions for a more just energy transition through the analysis of structural causes of corporate abuse in these supply chains. In particular, the researcher will help us deepen our efforts to embed human rights, and protect and amplify the voices of human rights defenders, as an essential part of the response to the climate crisis, and a core component of the global work towards a just transition. As the Resource Centre expands its advocacy on improving the human rights policies and practices of companies in the renewable energy value chain, the senior researcher will play a key role in supporting:
- Research on community engagement, community equity models and other forms of benefit-sharing – focusing in particular on (i) unpacking cases and recommendations for ‘meaningful engagement’ with communities in the context of transition minerals mining projects, (ii) examples of Indigenous co-ownership and ownership of renewable energy and mining projects;
- Regional teams in their work on local just transitions and evidence of corporate abuses in the context of the current boom of exploration, licensing of transition minerals mining projects;
- Advocacy towards and engagement with investors and their coalitions on our just energy transition messaging and core products - Transition Minerals Tracker, Renewable Energy Benchmark, and investor guidance;
- Development of policy recommendations on the just energy transition from a business & human rights perspective; and
- Representation of the programme in key civil society fora and coalitions.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:
- Conduct and help manage in-depth research: design and help lead team in delivering high impact research and analyses that assess company abuses, policy, and practice in renewable energy and transition mineral mining sectors, particularly through the team’s core products including the Transition Mineral Tracker, Renewable Energy and Human Rights Benchmark, and resources and guidance for investors. Lead on research and writing of a briefing focused on examples and lessons learnt around engagement with communities in the mining sector. The role
FareShare’s Food Team works with the UK food industry to rescue as much surplus food as possible. Our ability to build strong and meaningful partnerships with food businesses is central to our long-term strategy and our continued ability to support charities with much needed food. FareShare have ambitious food volume targets and must remain agile and innovative to continue to access and redistribute food.
As the Programme Manager – FLEX and Food Intervention you will be central to this ongoing agility; leading and delivering important projects which improve our flexibility and offer to the food industry. This role will be primarily delivering our Food Life Extension Project (FLEX).
The FLEX project is a pioneering UK project exploring ways to manage the inconsistency of surplus food supplies and to prevent gluts of produce going to waste.
THE PROBLEM - FareShare has always faced a challenge during UK harvest periods of being offered more of a particular food than our charities can possibly use in time, farmers and growers must estimate yields and with a fluctuating climate this can often lead to surplus.
THE SOLUTION - We are taking short life foods, particularly produce, and canning, freezing, juicing and cooking them turning them into long life sources of nutrition for our charities. We aim to increase the volume of accepted produce, expanding our year-round offering to communities and create a national store of food which can be drawn upon when fresh supplies are low.
The Julia and Hans Rausing Trust have supported this initiative with a generous donation over 3 years. Our ambition is to use this funding to build long term sustainable solutions for FareShare to accept these gluts of produce to ensure year-round support for communities. The project has been running small scale trials for the first phase, and we are seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial individual to take this project into the next phase, delivering a significant step change in the volume of food rescued over the upcoming UK harvests.
You will work closely with Account Managers in the Food Team to ensure that projects align with wider partnership plans, whilst being understood and engaged with by all relevant stakeholders. Furthermore, for the FLEX project you will be central in our continued reporting to the Julia and Hans Rausing Trust on how their generous donation has helped save previously wasted food and supported communities.
Excellent organisational and project management skills are an essential part of this role; you will need to co-ordinate and lead several, often complex projects concurrently. You will need to ensure that all projects have clear timelines and measurables, and that any key risks are identified, communicated and mitigated. Timelines are particularly important with the fluctuating and short dated nature of the produce we seek to rescue.

Job Title Senior Content Marketing Executive
Location Remote

As an advocate for parents, we are seeking a content marketer that is experienced in writing for parents and/or in a parenting space. Storytelling should sit at the heart of all you do so that we can bring to life our brand, mission and impact.
Main purpose and scope of the role:
To support and work in collaboration with our Content Marketing Manager to:
- Develop our annual content marketing plan for our parent audience
- Create, manage and maintain our website content for parents
- Deliver key content for parents for national campaigns and projects
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver valuable audience-led content for parents in the form of guides, videos, email, webinars and social to name a few
- Contribute to wider content activity for our parent volunteer and schools audience where required
Duties and key responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the Content Marketing Manager at Parentkind
1. Planning:
- Develop and deliver a content marketing plan that meets the needs of parents, supporting them to engage with and support their child and their child’s education
- Initiate new campaign/content ideas that meet the needs of parents and/or align with key moments across the year
2. Content Creation:
- Create high-quality and engaging content for various channels to include website, social, email, video, blog and more
- Deliver a range of content formats that are accessible to parents and support Parentkind to grow our reach within the parent space
- Ensure all content is audience-led, on-brand, SEO optimised and time relevant
- Ability to flex content to suit tone of voice, brand, audiences etc.
- Create content to support wider team projects where required such as for our PTAextra magazine
3. Collaboration:
- Work with the Content Marketing Manager to deliver new content-led products such as a Parent magazine
- Collaborate with the wider marketing team to ensure that content meets Parentkind’s objectives and are aligned with wider marketing team activity
- Work together with our Digital Marketing Manager to ensure that appropriate promotion plans are developed for key content and to create content that supports their digital strategy, including writing effective paid ad copy
- Collaborate with the Head of Parent Participation and the Programmes team to produce content that will support our parent and schools programmes, such as parent guides
- Establish a network of key contributors from relevant sectors as well as from our audiences
- Collaborate closely within the marketing team and with other stakeholders across the business to ensure that all projects are sufficiently supported for with relevant and inspiring content
4. Project management:
- Lead on the delivery of parent content activity such as guides, website hubs, video and more
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise effectively
- Assist in managing and organising content libraries for easy use across the business
5. Continuous learning:
- Work with others across the organisation as well as independently to understand our key audiences so that the work delivered is audience-focussed
- Monitor content effectiveness alongside our digital and website managers to ensure that we optimise our content plans and activity in the future
- Stay informed of the latest content trends, technologies and best practises so that Parentkind’s work is forward-thinking and impactful

Job Title Senior Policy Researcher for Northern Ireland
Location Based in Belfast (Home working with in person meetings in London on an ad hoc basis.)

Reports to Director of Policy and Research
Main purpose and scope of the role:
Parentkind is a national charity and we work across all four nations of the United Kingdom and the devolved institutions and governments.
The successful candidate would be expected to support our work in Northern Ireland and have demonstrable experience of the political system in Northern Ireland.
In addition to their work in Northern Ireland the successful candidate will support the wider aims of the Policy and Research Department across the UK.
We are the voice of parents in education, we represent 13,000 Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) and have an ambition to develop an internal parent ‘think tank’ within the organisation.
This is an exciting role if you have a passion for politics, a background in policy research and interested in education policy and politics.
The role will involve conducting research on education policy and making policy recommendations based on that research. Some research will be time sensitive and involve summarising information and presenting it in an easy to understand way. There will be longer research projects to support the charity to develop policy positions and maintain our position as a strong voice for parents in education.
Alongside the research requirements of the role, you will be expected to support our political and broader stakeholder engagement activity to make sure the work we do is understood and seen by the right people.
You will have experience of working with political stakeholders in Northern Ireland and a strong understanding of the political structures and processes in Northern Ireland, as well as experience in political engagement to promote research and policy recommendations.
If you love politics and want to spend your days writing about education policy this is the role for you. You will represent Parentkind at important events and meetings and have the chance to promote our research and policy recommendations.
Duties and key responsibilities
Policy research and analysis
- To conduct research on education policy in Northern Ireland under the guidance of the Director of Policy and Research.
- To produce summarise large amounts of information and produce briefing material on education policy for external audiences, often at pace.
- To provide political monitoring and advice for the department, to include:
- debates and questions in the Northern Ireland Assembly
- future business across in the Northern Ireland Assembly,
- policy development.
- To provide rapid briefing material for any relevant future business in the Northern Ireland Assembly
- Draft questions (and an understanding of how to structure questions) in the Northern Ireland Assembly
- To support the development of parent surveys to related to our policy work.
- To support the development of policy recommendations and experience of publishing policy related research.
Political engagement
- To organise policy led events, such as roundtable discussions or meetings of politicians across all U.K. legislatures and experience of managing political events.
- To identify political stakeholders relevant to our work in Northern Ireland, including:
- officials inside government departments,
- elected representatives,
- think tanks and other relevant research institutions.
- To maintain a wide range of political contacts and meet with political stakeholders to promote our research and policy work.
- To meet with organisations with an interest in our work and provide effective briefings.
- To attend party conferences and other education led events to represent Parentkind.
Media engagement
- To support the Director of Policy and Research in media engagement, including background research for press releases.
- To summarise our policy and research ready for social media platforms.
