Job Description

Purpose of the role

Our PR & Media Manager is crucial to our plans to scale up our media coverage as we enter the final years of our campaign to end bear bile farming in Vietnam. As part of the Comms team, you will work closely with colleagues in our Programmes and Fundraising teams to amplify their work through public relations, celebrity support and media activity. Your key areas of responsibility will include press office management, preparing PR & Media plans for each of our key markets, preparing pitches, media releases and content for media outreach and building a library of case studies to showcase our work. Your other key area of responsibility is supporting our highly successful celebrity liaison to raise Animals Asia’s profile through earned, owned and shared digital platforms, print and broadcast media. You will possess the knowledge, skills, and creativity to help us raise awareness of Animals Asia and what we stand for, helping us grow our supporter base and meet our brand goals. You will be managed and supported by our Global Head of PR and Media.

Key duties:

1. Responding to media enquiries, drafting media releases, undertaking proactive pitch development, outreach to journalists, maintaining our database of media contacts and other general press office management.
2. Supporting our Founder and our Global Head of PR and Media to develop and grow relationships with influencers and high-profile supporters, and deliver campaigns involving celebrities and influencers.
3. Preparing, publishing, moderating and reporting on social media content for PR and media purposes.
4. Close working with international colleagues and managing our PR agencies globally to deliver PR campaigns in our key markets and professional media management at international events.
5. Supporting and promoting global campaigns, appeals and events by developing press releases, media packs, briefings and other PR materials.
6. Developing and maintaining a case study, asset and fact file library.
7. Working with Meltwater and Muck Rack media monitoring systems to identify media opportunities and compile PR & Media performance reports.
8. Internal liaison with colleagues throughout Animals Asia to develop content and pitches for earned and owned media opportunities.
9. Drafting pitches and articles in close collaboration with our internal subject matter experts to develop our reputation and thought leadership in animal welfare.
10. Producing media-ready content, including video and written content.
11. Maintaining the news section of our website and media packs.

Person Specification

• Minimum of three years’ experience of working in a busy press office or PR agency, including drafting press releases and responding to media enquiries.
• Strong news sense, knowledge and interest in the environment, biodiversity and animal area is a plus.
• Experience of working with celebrities, their managers and agents.
• Good understanding of reputation management and associated risks.
• Experience in using media monitoring software to track media engagement, journalists and coverage.
• Extensive experience of writing and publishing to social media.
• Competent video editing skills.
• Excellent written English.
• Demonstrable experience of prioritising and delivering against multiple deadlines in a time pressured environment.
• Confident in building relationships with colleagues and stakeholders and being a credible representative for the charity and the cause.
• Proven ability to work well under pressure.
• Willingness and ability to work early/late flexible hours (due to the global nature of the role) and occasionally on weekends.

Conditions and Benefits

ROLE PURPOSE

As our Executive Assistant (Maternity Cover, 0.8 FTE, Fixed term for 12 months), you will play a crucial role in developing and supporting our charity and strengthening our administration and governance. You will be providing flexible assistance primarily to our CEO, in the planning and delivery of their workload. Key responsibilities:

Chief Executive Officer assistance

• Email and calendar management: helping to prioritise demands, responding to correspondence on behalf of the CEO and following up with contacts post-meetings.
• Arrange meetings and itineraries and coordinate travel as required.
• Stakeholder management support: utilising CRM to maintain updated databases for organisational contacts; support with the completion of contracts and registering purchase orders with suppliers,where the CEO is the lead contact.

Meeting management

The key duties of this Director of Finance role are as follows:

• Be at the forefront of the development and implementation of the charity’s long-term financial plan and longer-term business planning.
• Full responsibility for the production of the annual budget and regular reforecasts.
• Sole charge for running the external audit process and ensuring the timely production of the statutory accounts.
• Coordinate the monthly management accounts production, including the development of the management information pack with supporting variance analysis and commentaries.
• Attend senior management team meetings and present at quarterly Board meetings.
• Manage the relationships with the external Payroll and IT providers.
• Be the organisation’s strategic lead on all things IT, seeking advice from external consultants as required.

This brilliant role will suit someone who has previous experience working in a senior finance role, ideally in the charity sector, who is now looking for the opportunity to shape the strategic direction of a growing charity whilst adding value in new areas. The charity is currently operating on a hybrid working model, with opportunities to work from home for up to four days per week, although flexible arrangements can be negotiated for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will have:

• Achieved their full accountancy qualification or be qualified by experience.
• Ideally, a background working in the charity sector, but this is not essential.
• Demonstrable experience working at a senior level in a finance team.
• Experience presenting at Board level.
• Preferably, experience managing non-finance functions.
• A strong work ethic and brilliant interpersonal skills.

About the Role

Positioned within the Digital Transformation team, you will own and manage the website on WordPress while working closely with the Senior Project Manager and Business Analyst to deliver innovative digital products that enhance the efficiency, decision-making, and user experience for both internal and external stakeholders.

The role involves contributing to the definition of product vision, managing the product backlog, and ensuring that development efforts align with the strategic goals of digital transformation. You will be instrumental in facilitating the transition of ideas into actionable project plans, maintaining a seamless user-centric approach across all digital interfaces, and supporting the development and delivery of digital solutions that meet the evolving needs of the organisation and its stakeholders.

About You

You will have experience in product ownership or management, ideally within a digital or technology-focused environment with an educational background in a relevant field. While formal qualifications are valued, equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

You will also have experience of:

• Working with cross-functional teams to deliver digital products or services
• Agile methodologies and principles, with hands-on experience in backlog management and iterative development cycles
• Gathering, scope definition, and user story creation, with a keen eye for detail in documenting processes and product features
• Proficiency with project management tools and methodologies, particularly experience with JIRA for tracking development tasks and Agile project management
• Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite for effective communication and document creation, with a strong emphasis on Excel for data analysis and PowerPoint for presentations

You will also have an aptitude for learning and adopting new tools and technologies, with a willingness to develop expertise in areas such as digital analytics, user experience (UX) design, and customer relationship management (CRM) systems. Previous involvement in digital transformation initiatives or projects, with an understanding of the challenges and opportunities presented by digital change within an organisation will also be an advantage in this role.

Arts Emergency, a mentoring charity and support network aiming to address the inequalities in the creative and cultural sectors, is looking for an experienced and motivated fundraiser to provide leadership and management for fundraising activities. 

Since 2013, Arts Emergency has been providing 16-25 year olds in London, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and beyond with a trained mentor working in their field of interest. Mentors help Young Talent set goals, explore their passions and make decisions about higher education, training and careers.  After they complete a year of mentoring, Young Talent can continue to access opportunities, advice, resources and paid work from the Arts Emergency Network until they turn 26. The network is made up of thousands of cultural professionals who’ve all offered to share crucial gateways into hard to crack industries like TV, publishing and architecture with young people.

This position will be responsible for raising the necessary income to ensure Arts Emergency’s high-quality, person focused, asset-based services for young people are sustainably funded and can

scale. This is a new role that reports to the Director of Fundraising & Marketing, overseeing a diverse income portfolio including individual giving, major donors, trusts and foundations, corporate donations, commercial income and community fundraising. The Head of Fundraising will have a particular focus on managing and growing the charity’s income from individuals and organisations, with an aim to increase overall fundraising to £1.25m in 2026.

Arts Emergency are seeking candidates that are passionate about building and developing strong teams and who can implement ambitious plans for funding work by making best use of their large community of young people, volunteers and organisations across the Arts, Humanities and in the Cultural and Creative industries.
