Senior Youth Outreach and Engagement Worker
Streets of Growth is seeking to employ an experienced, motivated, and personable individual to work as part of the frontline team to deliver targeted street work to engage and build relationships of trust with high-risk vulnerable young people (15-25 years), in hotspot areas known for Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB), exploitation, serious youth violence and young people that are furthest away from engaging in services.

The role:
Taking on a lead role to deliver targeted street work and outreach across the borough of Tower Hamlets. As a Youth Tech Abuse Lead you will provide specialist support to Refuge’s children support workers and frontline staff to ensure children, young people, and protective parents are using technology safely and positively in our refuges. AFK (Action For Kids) is a national charity helping young people with disabilities to develop their independence and find employment. Our vision is a world where all people living with a disability get to lead the life they choose. As part of this we provide bespoke employment skills and organise work experience placements across North London. At a national level, we provide mobility equipment not available on the NHS for disabled children and young people up to the age of 26.
Job Purpose
To support young people aged 18+ who have disabilities and/or are neurodiverse to gain employment. The role will be to primarily liaise with businesses and employers to broker new opportunities for supported and unsupported employment. You will also work with a small caseload of young people, assessing their employability skills. You will work closely with the Employment & Skills team to place young people from the Employment Coaches caseloads into employment, as well as locate some voluntary roles and work placements. Principle Responsibilities

Senior Helpline Advisor

If yes, then we'd love to hear from you as we have an exciting opportunity to join the Pan London Children and Young People's Service as a Senior Helpline Advisor (known internally as a Senior Triage and Early Interventions Officer)
In this role you will provide immediate and short term intervention via the telephone to children and young people impacted by crime and manage a small Triage team.
Position: 5511 Senior Helpline Advisor (internal title Senior Triage and Early Interventions Officer- Children and Young People)
Location: London/hybrid
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours. Monday- Friday, working on a shift pattern of 9am-5pm / 10am-6pm / 11am-7pm (Flexible working available)
Contract: Fixed term until 16th January 2025
Salary: Up to £28,300 per annum (includes FTE £24,500 per annum plus £2,800 per annum London Weighting Allowance and up to £1,000 per annum Line Manager Allowance).

The Role
As a Senior Triage Officer - Children and Young people’s Service, you will be:
- Managing a team delivering initial telephone-based support and an effective triage service to those affected by crime
- Responsible for line managing a team including recruitment, performance management and monitoring, support and guidance
- Act as the first point of contact for clients referred in to the service, ensuring that comprehensive impact and risks assessments are completed and a tailored response to each client’s needs is provided.
- Accountable for the performance of the team including maintaining performance information, using outcomes to identify effective practice and ensuring compliance with national standards, codes of practice and all legislative requirements
- Be the point of escalation for complex and sensitive cases and queries, whilst providing support, advice and guidance to the team
- Managing and monitoring workloads across the team, promoting effective communication channels to ensure best practice
About You
You will need to have the following essential skills:
- The ability to undertake impact and risks assessments and identify appropriate support
- Excellent telephone and IT skills required to use a database and undertake all administrative and reporting requirements
- Experience of safeguarding issues and legislation relating to both child protection and vulnerable adults
- Knowledge and understanding of the impact of crime on those who experience it, a working knowledge of the criminal justice system
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, sharing, coaching others.
- Good communication skills, both verbally & written and ability to demonstrate empathy

About the role:
You will lead and support a team of Homicide Family Caseworkers to meet VS and Homicide Service standards and contractual requirements. You will be able to demonstrate the excellent organisational skills essential to managing a demanding and diverse workload and will have experience of achieving key performance indicators, as set by the Operation managers and Deputy Head of Service.
We pride ourselves on providing exceptional trauma informed advocacy and support to all service users and you will have an understanding of the impact that trauma and bereavement can have on individuals. We support staff to keep them safe within their role and you will lead on the importance of personal and professional resilience and wellbeing for the team.
You will have excellent communication skills and will support the Operation Managers to maintain the highest standards of service delivery, across a widely geographically dispersed team. You will be prepared to travel across the geographical area including occasional overnight stays to ensure you can meet team members in person as well as online. A driving license and use of a car are both essential as well as access to public transport. You will be reimbursed for all travel costs.
You will also enjoy working closely with a range of stakeholders (including Police Family Liaison Officers and Senior Investigation Officers within the Major Crime teams) and will have experience in building constructive working relationships, focused on delivering the best service for vulnerable service users. You should be a confident presenter, and able to share the service and work we do to inform, educate and encourage notifications and referrals into the service.

The role holder is expected to work closely with the other members of the facilities team and assist in covering in the laundry, in the deep clean team or other works as and when required.
