Job description

Assistant Shop Manager - Bury

£17,652 - £19,020 pro rata for part time

Full Time and Part Time Hours Considered

Bury Hospice is looking for a charismatic Assistant Manager to support our shop in Bury Town Centre. In this role you will manage the shop team to maximise sales and achieve budgeted profitability whilst promoting the work of Bury Hospice, deputising for the shop manager in their absence.

As an Assistant Manager, you will be keen to use your retail experience to maximise sales using effective visual merchandising techniques. You will be passionate about the work of the Hospice and will use your role to increase awareness of our fundraising activities with customers. Our shops depend on the local community, so you will be driven in this way and have a eagerness to continue our development of the community network.

Customer satisfaction and engagement is key to our success as a Hospice, in which your excellent customer service skills will be relied upon to provide a fantastic experience for customers and to resolve queries and complaints.

You will be a responsible individual, respectful of guidelines and procedures, such as those related to GDPR and cash handling. You will have an understanding of Gift Aid return and the associated HMRC guidelines, and you will aim to promote this with all shop transactions.

You will take ownership for shop-related administration, such as rotas, timesheets, and absence management, so IT skills are essential, along with your ability to be organised, accurate and timely. Volunteer shop assistants support us in our work so it would be beneficial to the role if you had experience of managing others.

This is a hands-on role, part-time and full-time hours are negotiable but will both involve a requirement to work weekends and a flexible approach in order to meet operational demands.

Should you be interested in this role we would love to hear from you via a CV and a covering letter detailing whether you would be interested in full or part-time hours.
