Inclusive Boards is delighted to be undertaking the search for 2 new Directors (Trustees) for Wickersley Partnership Trust (WPT).

WPT was founded in 2014 and exists to further the interests of the young people that it serves.  WPT strive to be an outstanding group of schools where students have a highly positive educational experience that prepares them well for the next stage of education and provides them with opportunities to develop socially, emotionally, academically and physically to achieve the highest possible standards. The climate for learning is characterised by embedded inclusivity and high expectations.

The Directors set the overall strategic direction for the Academies collectively and are the people responsible under the Academy Trust’s articles of association for controlling its management and administration.

Wickersley are seeking two new Directors (Trustees) who will join the Audit and Risk and Finance subcommittees respectively. The skills and attributes they will need for both roles include:

Senior experience within a complex organisation in the public, private or not-for-profit sectors

A strong interest in and commitment to education as well as an understanding of the governance arrangements of the education and charity sectors

Experience of successfully managing relationships in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.

For the Audit and Risk role Wickersley need: 

Understanding of audit and risk management within a complex environment.

Good knowledge and experience of working in a senior finance role.

For the Finance role they need: 

Experience in non-Department for Education funding streams

Commercial acumen and exposure, with experience of strategic financial development and management

Do you enjoy working with people and would you like to make a positive impact for Turtle Doves? This species was once widespread and numerous but now is down to 2100 pairs in the UK. The Operation Turtle Dove project in partnership of RSPB, Natural England, Penthorpe Conservation Trust and Fair to Nature was established to conserve this iconic, red-listed species. Our staff and volunteers are working with landowners to try and halt and reverse the population decline but we need to measure our progress. Following on from the successful 2021 National Turtle Dove survey, we need to expand our network of survey volunteers in Kent, Sussex and Essex to enable yearly monitoring of survey squares for Turtle Doves.

We are looking for an organised person with excellent communication & IT skills to join our team and to help run the Turtle Dove monitoring program and supporting a network of volunteers. Experience in carrying out bird surveys is welcome but NOT essential, we can provide training so you can understand the role of the surveyors you will be recruiting and co-ordinating. This role could be carried out remotely. This is a year-round roll with peaks in activity before and after the survey season which runs from 11th May until 31st July. All equipment needed will be supplied.

Volunteer Coordinators undertake a wide range of activities, including:

Tasks:

• Dealing with queries from potential new volunteers who get in touch
• Being the first point of contact for our existing volunteers and answering general queries
• Lead on advertising new volunteer roles (on the RSPB and external websites, in the local community)
• Set up interviews with potential volunteers and assist with induction administration
• Administrative tasks such as recording volunteer hours, registering new volunteers on our database, organising surveys, receiving, and entering data and processing expense claims
• Organising and managing a small budget for volunteer thank-you events at the end of the survey season.
• Helping to promote the project through internal comms such as project newsletters

More potential experience (optional):

• Analysing and screening conservation footage from trail cameras
• Helping to coordinate large-scale orders of supplementary feeds for Turtle Dove seed

Commitment from you:

Equivalent of 1-2 days per week (flexible) and could be a role-share. There will be peaks either side of the survey season (11th May until 31st July) and likely to be fewer hours during the rest of the year. You may also have the chance to volunteer for additional days in other areas of the project.

The purpose of the role of Lifelites’ Honorary Secretary will be to create and maintain registers to enable the Trustees to review and update governance, statutory, and regulatory policies and reports, and to file them with external agencies as required. In addition, the role will support Lifelites’ Board of Trustees and Committee meetings, including the preparation of agendas, papers and minute taking.

About you

You are an experienced administrator or company secretary with a highly organised attitude, excellent attention to detail and strong IT skills. You will be passionate about Lifelites’ mission and keen to develop good governance within the charity.

Status

The Honorary Secretary will be a volunteer and not a Trustee.  They will have no responsibility for deciding the content of policies and reports but may advise the Trustees on the basis of their knowledge and expertise.

Key responsibilities

• To create registers of all the charity’s governance, statutory, and regulatory policies, procedures, reports, and other documents as and when required.
• To create and oversee a rolling schedule of periodic reviews for each document.
• To inform the Chair, Board of Trustees and Senior Management Team of any changes in governance, legal, statutory, and regulatory and compliance requirements.
• To prepare draft agendas and papers for Board meetings with support from the Chair and CEO.

Who are Blood Pressure UK?

Blood Pressure UK is a national charity which was established in 1996. In the UK, 16 million people are estimated to have high blood pressure with one in three (5 million+ people) unaware their blood pressure is raised. Known as the Silent Killer as you can be unaware your blood pressure is raised until you experience heart attack or stroke, or it’s picked up in a random check.

For over 20 years we have been leading the light on people understanding their blood pressure numbers so if needed they can take the steps needed to reduce it. This culminates each year with Know Your Numbers Week! in September, a week-long campaign with a range of partners for people to understand their blood pressure numbers with advice and guidance of how to make vital changes to their lifestyles to change it.

Our Team

Blood Pressure UK currently have a staff team of three (two who are part-time). We contract an external accounting company to provide financial services to the charity including annual accounts, monthly management accounts, payroll, invoice creation and book keeping, making sure the charity complies with relevant governance for the charity commission and companies house.

What we are looking for…

We are looking for a qualified accountant, either working or recently retired with ideally experience of charity financial processes but not essential.

You may have a connection either personally or through family and friends with high blood pressure but it’s not a prerequisite for the role. Your experience and enthusiasm are the key factors we are looking for.

Coach Core is a social mobility charity that uses sport and apprenticeships to change the long-term career pathways of young people facing discrimination, exclusion, or lack of opportunity in the UK.

Since 2012, we have worked with nearly 1000 apprentices in 19 UK cities, placing them with over 250 employers across the sport, physical activity, and youth work sectors. In addition to developing their own skills and improving their future prospects, these inspiring young people facing lack of opportunity, exclusion or even discrimination, have also impacted over 12 million beneficiaries through their work.

About the Role

We are looking for a Volunteer to assist in the running of our new Wednesday Evening Service programme of activities at Headway East London. The Evening Service is a new opportunity for people living with brain injury in the East London area to join our community. 

Volunteering with us, you’ll get involved in the fun and creative activities going on at our Evening Service. Every week is different: you could help in our art studio, assist in the kitchen or take part in a music session. You’ll be supporting our members one-to-one and in groups. You don’t need any special skills or knowledge, we’ll give you the induction you need, and support is always on hand, with regular volunteer meetings, training sessions and supervision.

Main Duties

• To help Headway staff manage the activity programme for each member by offering one-to-one support or in small groups.
• To assist members with specific activities that prove challenging for them i.e., using computers, cooking, engaging in art activities.
• To initiate discussion, games or activities and encourage members to take part.
• To help floor staff around dinner time (food preps. setting up tables, dishing out and serving food).
• To assist with keeping the Headway centre safe, clean, and tidy all times by taking on tasks such as collecting and washing cups, tidying up resources' shelves, wiping tables before lunch etc…
• To inform floor staff about activities undertaken with members and any significant changes in mood or behaviour. To take members to social events and outings and being able to assist individuals needing to use a wheelchair.
• To undergo training as required and attend volunteer debriefs and supervision. To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required.

Person Specification

• Aged 18 or over.
• Experience working with people clear and sensitive communication.
• Ability to relate well to people on a one-to-one basis and be sympathetic to others’ situations.
• Willing to participate in a variety of activities appropriate for our members.
• Prepared to lead an activity with a small group of members.

Commitment

The role requires a minimum commitment of at least 4 months, every Wednesday from 3.30pm to 8.30pm. Volunteers need to sign a volunteer agreement and confidentiality form.

Training/Support

Each volunteer is given an induction which includes information on health & safety, fire precautions, confidentiality, equal opportunities, and a brief outline of the long-term effects of head injury.

As part of this role, you will receive ongoing support and you will have the opportunity to gain experience in Health and Social Care.

• To fully support our volunteers in their role we provide: regular volunteer meetings.
• Training sessions delivered by our specialist staff a regular debrief session.
• One to one supervision starting after the first 4 months and yearly appraisal meetings.

We are seeking a new trustee to join our Board. This opportunity has arisen at an exciting time in our journey at St Helena. We have recently agreed a new 10-year vision and strategic direction. However, to achieve our vision we need to find a way through a perfect storm of spiraling costs and increased demand, at the same time as income from traditional fundraising methods is diminishing and inflationary pressures are increasing. To help with income we have set up a subsidiary trading arm to manage our growing range of commercial activities. Already the lead organisation for palliative and end of life care in our area, we want to extend our reach and services to also become a key provider of complex frailty and dementia care. We are exploring moving to a new site and taking the opportunity that presents to develop business cases for new ventures that could be co-located with existing services. We operate two very successful B2B lottery partnerships delivering lotteries for other hospices and charities across the country. We have recently launched a new home care service in partnership with a national franchisor. We have a growing retail arm, with an increasing online presence. We also have a well-established and successful fundraising operation. We want to build on this success and diversify even further. Chairperson Role, Responsibilities and Attributes

The Chairperson leads the Board of Trustees and sets its agenda in consultation with the CEO. Their role is to enable Trustees to fulfil their responsibilities for overall governance, risk management and strategic direction. The Trustee Board is responsible for proactively engaging with and understanding Belong, its service users and the wider criminal justice landscape. Trustees must always uphold the best interests of Belong’s service users, ensuring that the charity achieves its charitable aims whilst abiding by charity law and other relevant regulations. The Chairperson supports and empowers the CEO to lead the organisation so that it achieves its vision, mission and aims, whilst remaining sustainable and ethical.

In supporting the trustee board and CEO, the Chairperson is responsible for:

• Acting as an ambassador and spokesperson for Belong when appropriate.
• Creating meaningful and productive working relationships with the CEO, senior leadership team and trustees.
• Providing empowering, supportive line management to the CEO.
• Chair and facilitate trustee board meetings effectively, ensuring that decisions are made fairly and in the best interests of Belong’s service users.
