About you

We are seeking a Finance Officer with a keen eye for detail, and an aptitude for learning new skills, to take on purchase ledger and payroll administration duties in our Finance Department.   You will have either begun on the path of attaining a financial qualification or had some experience in a similar role.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all purchases, payments and returns, including supplier invoices, staff payments (salaries, expenses and advances), project and contractor payments and credit card transactions.  Responsible for project reporting against budget.

Key responsibilities (full responsibilities listed in the application pack):

• Ownership of the purchase ledger system, administering the entire process of invoice receiving, checking, coding, distributing for approval, posting to the accounts software (currently Sage), setting up domestic and international payments for authorisation, and electronic filing of documents.
• Administering all credit card returns including distribution of statements to colleagues, checking and coding returns, collating documents, submitting for line-manager approval, posting to Sage and following up on outstanding items.
• Administering staff and contractors expense claims, advances, returns and funds transfer requests, including checking and coding, submitting for budget-holder approval, arranging payment both domestic and international, and electronic filing of documents.
• Recording project expenditure against budget and drafting project financial returns to meet funder deadlines.

About the role

The St Pancras Community Association (SPCA) is a charity delivering high quality services for Camden residents, especially the lively and diverse community of the St Pancras and Somers Town ward. As the Director of SPCA you will lead and guide a highly skilled and motivated team to make the SPCA a community hub and a centre of excellence which has a positive impact on the lives of local residents.

The governance of SPCA is overseen by a Board of Trustees. The Director will report directly to this Board and work closely with Board members.

About On Your Side

On Your Side is the UK-wide support and reporting service for East and Southeast Asian communities who experience racism and/or any forms of hate.

Launched in August 2022, the service includes a 24/7 freephone helpline available in East and Southeast Asian languages; a website with reporting forms and resources; and ongoing community-based support delivered by trained casework advocates. We work to ensure that those who  experience racism and/or hate have access to the highest levels of culturally competent support while building a better picture of the nature and range of incidents so they can be better prevented.

Funded by the UK Department for Levelling Up Housing and Communities, On Your Side is delivered by a consortium of 9 organisations including East and Southeast Asian led community groups alongside national hate crime reporting and hate crime prevention organisations. This role will be based at the consortium lead organisation, identity-based violence prevention charity Protection Approaches.

About the role

Based at Protection Approaches, the Project Officer will report directly to the On Your Side Project Manager, and work closely with Protection Approaches’ team, On Your Side Casework Coordinator, Outreach Officer, and all consortium partners.

This is a new and exciting role that will be central to the delivery and development of the On Your Side service as it moves into a new phase over the next 12 months as an established, sustainable service.

In this role the Project Officer will develop their project management skills as they work with the Project Manager on overall coordination of the On Your Side service including coordination of the project delivery team across partner organisations to ensure they are meeting agreed objectives to agreed timelines.

You will oversee several distinct areas of work including overseeing the strategy and work of the On Your Side Outreach Officer in developing and implementing new engagement, outreach, communications and public education strategies. You will also oversee the publishing of a quarterly data report, and ensuring data is being recorded appropriately and accurately.

You will represent the service at high profile meetings and events including meeting with current and future funders, representatives from national and local government, other policy-makers, police and, academic experts to build the profile of the service, improve its support methodologies and impact, and assist in the development and implementation of sustainability and fundraising plans for the service.

You will be trained by the Protection Approaches Outreach team on delivery of hate crime workshops, and other trainings and use those skills to deliver awareness sessions for On Your Side, raising awareness of the service and it’s benefits while supporting ESEA community members to better understand their rights and how they can tackle racism and hate.

The role is a 12-month fixed term contract. During this period we expect to secure additional resources to ensure the ongoing delivery of this service and extend the role of Project Officer.

The successful candidate will:

• Assist the Project Manager in overall coordination of the On Your Side service including coordination of the project delivery team across partner organisations to ensure they are meeting agreed objectives to agreed timelines
• Oversee the work and strategy of the On Your Side Outreach Officer to develop and implement engagement, outreach, and public education strategies to increase knowledge about the service and use of the service
• Increase the profile and visibility of On Your Side particularly among key stakeholders in ESEA communities and service provider to establish partnerships in outreach or referrals
• Represent the service at high profile external meetings, such as with funders, or stakeholders in regional or national government

End Violence and Racism Against East and Southeast Asian Communities (EVR)

End Violence and Racism Against East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) Communities (known as EVR) is an intergenerational organization whose mission is to prevent and address structural racism and inequality affecting ESEA communities in the UK. This is in the context of rising racism and discrimination towards all minoritised groups, with whom we seek to build allyship and solidarity.

We started out as a grassroots organisation during the Covid pandemic in 2020, in order to respond to the high level of racism experienced by people of ESEA ethnic origin. Following successful fundraising initiatives we are now building a team to enable EVR to deliver effective services and campaigns in line with its strategic goals.

We’re looking for a highly motivated communications professional who is passionate about supporting the growth of FoodCycle and working to help people understand the many benefits of community dining.

We’ve grown a lot over the last 15 years and our weekly community meals now run in more than 85 towns and cities across England and Wales. This role is vitally important in supporting our growth - we have plans to reach 100 Community Meal Projects by the end of this year as well as launching new initiatives that will help us support more families and children. 

The post holder will work closely with the Head of Marketing and the wider marketing team to develop campaigns and plans that will get as many people as possible talking about FoodCycle’s work, enhance our visibility and become the leaders in delivering and promoting community dining. 

You will have experience working within media or PR, with a track record of securing high quality media coverage. You will have knowledge of the media landscape, and the ability to craft a press release, pitch a story, work with case studies, and write blog posts.

Hackney Foodbank is looking for a Volunteer Manager to join their team 2 days per week (14 hours).

Purpose and Key Responsibilities:

The Volunteer Manager role is responsible for recruiting, engaging and deploying volunteers into a wide variety of roles across the charity.

• Work with the Warehouse Manager and Food Distribution teams to support the recruitment journey and retention of volunteers. Encourage people to volunteer through a variety of marketing and promotion approaches, including social media and working with our Communications and Fundraising team to develop a strategy for volunteers. Develop, coordinate, and engage a network of around 150 active volunteers. Book and signpost volunteers to relevant and engaging volunteer training sessions. Work with the Warehouse Manager and Head of Food Distribution and Volunteering to resolve any volunteering related issues or complaints. Proactively liaise with the staff team to determine volunteer requirements, select volunteers for the right roles and match them to the right people, considering preferences and restrictions on both sides. Provide advice and guidance to volunteers about their matched relationship (with support from the wider team) and highlight safeguarding concerns as appropriate. Work effectively to ensure volunteers feel part of Hackney Foodbank. Support the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of our services.
• Gathering volunteer feedback and take appropriate steps for improvement.
• Manage the Assemble platform and implement the annual Peakon volunteer survey, and implement the recommendations resulting from the survey.

Free Tibet is a small but effective campaign organisation based in south London. We’re looking for a Fundraising Manager who can transform our routine fundraising and lead expert strategies for income generation. This role is best suited to an experienced solo fundraiser who is confident in managing multiple streams of income, but we welcome applications from any fundraiser with a diverse skillset and collaborative way of working.

We are currently implementing a pay grading system at Free Tibet, offering increases with each year of service. The salary for this position starts at £40,000.

Job Description

Fundraising

• Oversee all income-generation activity across Free Tibet and Tibet Watch. Ensure continuous improvement and innovation and an appropriate balance of fundraising activity across all streams. Current streams include postal appeals, online appeals, and the Free Tibet online shop.
• Manage applications for grant funding on behalf of both Free Tibet and Tibet Watch, working with the Fundraising Officer to build a strong portfolio of five and six-figure grants and steward them for renewal.
• Lead on the recruitment and retention of donors, especially Major Donors, and redevelop supporter journeys and stewardship programs.
• Evaluate new ideas for income generation and strategies for implementation, especially corporate and challenge events / community fundraising.
• Impact reporting of fundraising activity and the performance of quarterly appeals, with a view to improve internal processes for greater income innovation and ROI.
• Liaise with the Free Tibet Campaigns & Research Teams to ensure that campaigning, digital and fundraising activities are seamlessly coordinated.
• Managing relationships with third party agencies, like mailing services and digital mobilisation agencies, making sure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to the highest standard.
• Ensure that our new Client Relationship Management (CRM) system, Raiser’s Edge NXT, is used effectively and to its full potential.
• Take a supporter-facing role in managing relationships with Major Donors, leading by example in securing mission-critical income.
• When needed, providing on-the-ground support for direct marketing, including copywriting and editing.

Leadership & Management

• Line manage the Fundraising Team, which currently consists of a full-time Fundraising Officer, part-time Administrative Assistant, and part-time Supporter Care & Shop Officer, nurturing their professional development and working collaboratively to produce fundraising projects.
• Act as a leader within the organisation, representing staff to the board and executive committee where appropriate.
• Work with the Finance and HR manager to monitor expenditure against budget and prepare regular reports on expenditure and projected income for the Free Tibet and Tibet Watch boards.
• Develop annual and project-specific Fundraising Strategies, reporting on appropriate indicators.

General Responsibilities

• Participating in regular team meetings.
• Participate in events and actions as required, with protest attendance highly encouraged.
• Ensure that volunteers working with your team are managed appropriately.
• Participating in monthly finance/fundraising meetings.
• Provide regular fundraising reports for the FT-TW Boards and Head of Campaigns.
• Any other tasks, where appropriate, required to ensure the smooth-running of the organisation.

Person Specification

Essential

• Proven ability to look at the big picture of an organisation’s fundraising and prioritise what needs particular attention.
• Proven track record of delivering income across one or more of following income streams:
  • Individual Giving: postal appeals, online appeals; emergency appeals; matched giving campaigns.
  • Major Donor Fundraising: soliciting and stewarding donations from HNWIs; prospects research; Major Donor recruitment.
  • Trusts and Foundations: soliciting and stewarding major grant
• Digital fluency with a deep understanding of how this relates to fundraising.
• Line management of other fundraisers, especially with agile working and diverse skill sets.
• Experience of overseeing the development of team members.
• Excellent knowledge of proper practice in fundraising data and compliance, especially with reference to The Code of Fundraising Practice and GDPR principles.
• Confident reporting directly to the Board of Trustees and representing staff interests.
• Commitment to Free Tibet’s mission.

Desirable

• Experience of working in a high intensity environment, working collaboratively and skillfully in response to fast-moving developments in global news.
• Personal achievement/s securing five or six-figure grants, especially for research or human rights projects.
• Experience of managing lead generation campaigns at both a strategist and practitioner level, especially Facebook ads, with past examples of success.
• Experience using RENXT, Mailchimp, and digital tools (e.g. Engaging Networks or Impact Stack).

As an Operations and Office Assistant at Back Up, your primary objective is to provide comprehensive operational support and fostering an efficient office environment. About you

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with demonstrable knowledge of developing and implementing new policies and processes to ensure best practice in recruitment, retention and engagement.

You will have a background in HR, and ideally, experience working with or supporting volunteers or communities.

You will need to have good IT skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Office and a CRM or People Management software.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of People, and with support from the Director of Communities and Inclusion, the HR Officer for Communities and Volunteers will:

• Produce volunteer management policies, procedures and documents to ensure compliance with latest good practice guidance.
• Support staff working with volunteers and other unpaid members of the BES communities to embed best practice in the valuing of unpaid contributors.
• Develop and implement, monitor and evaluate processes for a fair and equitable system of volunteer recruitment, benefits, recognition and awards.
• Identify where the gaps lie in the EDI data of volunteers and actively seek to address these.
