LEGAL OFFICER – EMPLOYMENT LAW
Salary £39,298 per annum
Hours: 35 hours (5 days) Monday – Friday inclusive.
Applications for part-time 28 hours (4 days) a week will also be considered.
Location: Flexible - home-based or hybrid (office and home-based) working available. Occasional travel requirement across England and Wales for meetings or delivery of training. The postholder will be required to attend the office[1] occasionally to attend work meetings.

Rights of Women is a long established and well-respected national women's charity providing free legal advice to women to help them navigate their way through the legal system and inform them of their rights. Addressing violence against women and girls is a major part of ensuring that women can achieve equality in society. We also work to influence law and policy and provide training to professionals who work with women.
The Role
We are looking for a qualified woman[2] solicitor or barrister or CILEX member with experience of employment harassment and discrimination law to deliver our vital legal services for women as part of our employment law team.
The Legal Officer (Employment Law) is responsible for delivery of Rights of Women’s core services including providing legal advice on our ‘Sexual Harassment at Work’ telephone advice line, delivering training and writing publications. They also contribute to Rights of Women’s policy and influencing work, specifically related to our 'Sexual Harassment at Work’ advice line and employment law and the management of the legal volunteers to the advice line.
Closing date: Wednesday 17th April 2024 @ 17.00 We are seeking a postholder to start as soon as possible and consequently will interview suitable candidates on an ongoing basis.

The Ethical Property Foundation is the only dedicated property advice charity serving the UK voluntary sector. We support over 450 voluntary organisations p.a. with expert and independent property advice and education. We are currently seeking one or more self-employed Chartered Surveyors (or with an equivalent professional qualification), to augment our team and specifically, to assist us in delivering our affordable consultancy.
We are particularly looking for surveyors with an ability to think and report strategically or offer specialisms such as building surveying and planning.
Our Associate Property Advisers are all extraordinary people: senior property professionals. As part of this team, you will be assigned projects to lead on or supporting other members. You will use your communication skills to gain the trust of our clients, many of whom support vulnerable people in challenging circumstances, and empower them to expand their property knowledge and confidence. You will use your wide knowledge of the property sector to investigate/analyse client issues and develop suitable options and solutions. The projects you will deliver include property health checks, feasibility studies, options appraisals & development of client property strategies. Average project time allocation: between 4 – 5 days. There may be opportunities to deliver webinar training too.
Our clients support every kind of good cause and are responsible for every type of property. In the last 12 months, besides conventional office premises, we have advised on: church buildings, oast houses, former schools, industrial units, fields, warehouses, libraries, theatres, and mills.
Location: Flexible working from home. Projects will include client site visits in England, Wales and Scotland.
Day Rate: £220

We’re looking for an experienced civil litigator to join our small (but mighty!) in-house team at Fish Legal. We use the law to fight pollution and other damage or threats to the water environment.
You’ll work closely with our Head of Practice to provide a responsive, practical, cost-effective service taking civil action on behalf of angler members regarding damage to fisheries.
This is a permanent, full time, remote role that suits a solicitor who’d like to work in an intellectually challenging environment alongside a very passionate and supportive team—although our casework can be demanding, we’re flexible and family-friendly.
What you’ll be doing
· Provide legal advice and representation to member clubs, riparians, and fishery owners in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland
· Conduct litigation, instructing and working with experts and counsel
· Correspond with government agencies and environmental regulators
· Obtain information using Environmental Information and Freedom of Information legislation
· Attend site visits as required
· Take an active role in our internal case management meetings
· Report on your own cases and collaborate on broader Fish Legal litigation
· Work with our external communications team to publicise successful legal actions
· Manage your own legal files with the support of our Legal Administrator
· Comply with all professional regulatory requirements for practising as an in-house solicitor in a membership association
Who you are
· Degree qualified solicitor with 3+ years PQE and a current practicing certificate
· Experienced in representing and advising clients in dispute resolution and litigation, including pre-action and issued claims
· You have a proven ability to build strong, productive internal and external relationships, plus a demonstrable track record of working on successful cases
· You shine autonomously whilst working within a small team and you have a flexible approach—you’ll be happy to manage a full and varied caseload and ready to pivot with changing priorities
· Negotiation and advocacy are some of your strengths alongside your excellent analytical and legal research skills—you also have a good understanding of Civil Procedure Rules
· You know your way around platforms such as Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint, your written and verbal communication is brilliant, and you’re committed to providing a high standard of member care
· You’re self-assured, confident, capable, and detail-oriented with sound judgement and a proactive attitude—and willing to own your continuous professional development
What will make you stand out
· A passion for healthy waters and fisheries
· Familiarity with relevant environmental legislation and the law relating to sporting rights, an understanding of how the water industry is regulated in the UK, and knowledge of the issues affecting water quality and quantity
· Mediation experience
· Previous experience using cloud-based matter management systems

Legal Counsel
The Clean Air Fund is looking to recruit a Legal counsel to join their team in finance and operations department. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing organisation whose mission is to use philanthropic grants to catalyse a reduction in air pollution.
As a Legal counsel with Clean Air Fund you would help to work closely with CAF’s Senior Leadership Team to ensure CAF complies with its required legal and funder obligations and to advise on all CAF contracts which primarily constitute grants. The role brings legal expertise to offer expert solution-focused input across a wide range of issues to ensure that as CAF grows rapidly and robustly.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- UK qualified solicitor
- Experience in drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising on contracts with a range of external stakeholders
- Experience of legal risk and compliance, gained in a non-profit, philanthropic or impact driven environment is preferable
- An up-to-date understanding and practice of UK charity law
- Previous experience working in-house will be beneficial
- Ability to take complex information and present in a concise and simplified form
- Ability to set priorities, think critically, objectively and strategically.
- Skills required to work in a range of cultural and socio-economic contexts, adapting style and approach appropriately and in a culturally sensitive manner to maximise effectiveness.
- Fluency in English. Proficiency in other languages is an advantage.
- IT proficiency (most specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong personal motivation to work in the not-for-profit sector and interest in environment, air quality, health.
