About the role:
As Senior Outreach Worker, you'll make use of your strong interpersonal skills to connect with individuals from all walks of life. Building trust, assessing needs, and generating creative ideas to steer people away from rough sleeping will be the focus of your role.
Collaboration is key in our team. You'll work together with specialist Navigators, Outreach workers, substance use outreach services, and mental health outreach teams. Plus, you'll be pivotal in forging strong relationships with a range of housing providers in the borough.
To thrive in this role, you'll have knowledge and experience in substance use and recovery, trauma informed practices of working, and the complexities of the homelessness sector.
Your commitment to flexibility will be crucial in providing the support, empowerment, and opportunities needed to guide individuals toward suitable and stable accommodation.
About you:
- You will demonstrate a strong understanding of planned support principles and the ability to assess the needs of those who may be reluctant to engage with services.
- You will know the various barriers faced by people who are sleeping rough and what services are available for those facing multiple disadvantages.
- You will be self-motivating, able to work under pressure, manage your schedule effectively, and able to work flexibly Monday to Friday, at times when rough sleepers are often seen bedded down.
- You will be able and willing to travel across the borough of Redbridge at times when public transport may not be readily available.

A bit about the role:

- Being responsible for the effective operation of the Support Service, in line with its policies and procedures, including encouraging a co-operative and supportive environment within the service

About this role…
Thames Reach’s Outreach teams operate across London and help those who are rough sleeping to find routes away from the street. The teams respond to referrals and work flexibly to reach London’s most vulnerable. Individuals are assessed to identify their support needs and support plans are created, including work to obtain identification, access health services and refer to other specialist agencies, including those with immigration issues.
We are looking for a Lead Worker to join the Hillingdon Street Outreach Team.
You will:
- Lead outreach shifts, providing a rapid response to referrals for people who are rough sleeping in the borough.
- Take a lead role within the team, working closely with support workers and assistant support workers to identify the quickest and most appropriate route off the street for people found rough sleeping, and devise plans to achieve this.
- Provide direct support to people who are found rough sleeping to enable them to move away from the streets and into accommodation.
- Work alongside partner agencies to ensure that clients are accessing appropriate support to access and sustain accommodation.
- Represent the team at multi-agency meetings.
- Accurately record all work completed within given timeframes.
To succeed as the Lead Worker, you will have:
- A strong commitment to providing a high standard of service.
- Experience working with people who have rough slept or vulnerable adults and supporting them to access services.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills in order to remain strongly outcome focused, with the ability to coordinate a high number of cases and complete tasks promptly and efficiently.
- Good communication skills and confidence in public speaking when representing Thames Reach externally.
- Experience in forming strong working relationships with partner agencies, being able to challenge them when required.
- Strong IT skills with the ability to use Outlook, online recording systems, Excel, and Word, using a tablet and a smart phone.
- A clean driving license (desirable).

The Outreach Team work in a person centred way, finding people who are currently homeless, or rough sleeping. The hours of the role at 5am to 1pm (there is some room for flexibility on this, however it must be early morning). We cover the entirety of Bedford, including rural areas, so the post holder must have a valid UK driving license, with access to a car. As we also cover town centre locations, the ideal candidate has to be able to walk fair distances, in all conditions (between 10 and 15,000 steps per day). Our ideal candidate has great interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt their approach to suit the needs of the people that they are supporting, including being able to liaise with other services within SMART and other key stakeholders. The Education Support Worker will provide intensive support to Ukrainian refugee families within the local area who are experiencing challenges understanding, navigating and accessing the education system.
Students who have their learning and wellbeing needs met will develop the capacity to engage more effectively with school, which will reduce the risk of falling behind, increase social participation and wellbeing, and contribute to building opportunities for their future.
This is a new role within our team, so the successful candidate will have the specialist knowledge and expertise required to build a sustainable framework of support for Ukrainian refugee children and their families. You will build partnerships with external stakeholders in your area to ensure there is a strong network for support for our residents. Contract: This is a one year contract in the first instance.
Hours: 21 hours per week.
Place of work: To work flexibly at CARA premises across mid and north Essex, including Braintree, Chelmsford, Clacton, Colchester and Dunmow. The post may also involve some remote working, if a suitable home working environment is available.
Holiday: 25 days per year, pro-rata, plus additional closure days between Christmas and New Year.

Job Description

Main Responsibilities
· To provide one-to-one counselling and support to young people (aged 12-19), holding a caseload of clients.
· To provide occasional counselling and support to adult supporters and relatives.
· To undertake client assessments and make appropriate arrangements for their support.
· To provide specialist advice to other workers and agencies, including participation in delivery of training sessions.
· To liaise with other agencies and attend meetings, where required.
· To act as point of contact for CARA sessional counsellors and volunteers, where appropriate.
· To raise awareness in the community and within other agencies of the short and long-term responses people may develop to sexual violence,
· To keep up to date with relevant legislation, policy and practice issues.
· To provide occasional training on sexual violence, self-harm and related issues to volunteers and other agencies.
· To work flexible hours, including some evening work and occasional weekends.
· To participate in CARA team meetings, supervision, training and development.
· To keep appropriate records in accordance with CARA policies and procedures.
· To adhere in full to all CARA’s organisational policies and procedures, including safeguarding procedures.
· To be administratively self-servicing.
· The postholder must be able to work flexibly at CARA centres across mid and north Essex.
· To report to the Child and Young Person’s Practice Manger, Head of Operations, Chief Executive Officer and Trustees as required, including the production of regular written and verbal reports, and occasional case studies.

We have a great opportunity for an Advice & Wellbeing Specialist to join the team on a permanent basis. In this Outreach role you’ll be working predominantly within the North West London Region.
As an Advice and Wellbeing Specialist, you will report to the Advice and Wellbeing Team Leader. You’ll deliver proactive and trauma informed support to meet the holistic needs of residents. Your support will be tailored to your resident’s needs, and you will work closely with them to understand their wellbeing concerns and agree an action plan to enable them to sustain their tenancies and feel connected to their community. You will empower residents to manage their wellbeing needs by helping them to develop and maintain skills and resilience to lead independent and fulfilled lives.
You will work collaboratively with wider teams, statutory services external advice and support services to ensure residents have the appropriate support. You will build partnerships with external stakeholders in your area to ensure there is a strong network for support for our residents. You will also be delivering advice and wellbeing support in community wellbeing hubs and providing peer support to colleagues.
What you'll need:
- A Full UK driving licence with access to own car.
- Demonstrable experience dealing with vulnerable people.
- Demonstrable experience dealing with complex cases.
- Experience providing frontline support and giving advice.
- Be passionate about customer service, being resilient with a positive and can-do-attitude.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Be exceptionally organised with the ability to self-manage a diverse and varied caseload, prioritising work effectively and produce high quality work.

A bit about the role:
You will work closely and collaboratively with residents in their homes and neighbourhoods to understand their immediate needs, as well as their wider goals and aspirations to achieve sustainable outcomes. You will do this through a mix of direct support and advocacy, as well as exceptional partnership working with other Peabody teams, our contractors, statutory and voluntary services, and by supporting local wellbeing projects.
Some of the key results for the role include:
- As the Advice and Wellbeing Specialist, you will be providing holistic wellbeing support that supports residents to sustain their tenancies successfully.
- Actively build strong partnerships with other Peabody teams, housing associations, local authorities, statutory and voluntary services to promote effective multi-agency working and information sharing.
- Work with the Allocations, Financial Inclusion and Neighbourhoods teams to target early tenancy support to new residents who need this and ensure others know how to access your support if facing any difficulties in the future.
- Support the delivery and promotion of wellbeing hubs and cafes, as well as other projects in your region.
An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this role and requires a full, clean driving licence for roles based in North West London.
A minimum of 2 to 3 days working in the office/covering your patch is required; the other days can be worked from home, or a local office.
