Job description

About us

The Bone Cancer Research Trust (BCRT) is the leading charity dedicated to fighting primary bone cancer. Our mission is to save lives and improve outcomes through research, information, awareness and support. In July 2019 we were awarded 'National Healthcare & Medical Reseach Charity of the Year' at the national Charity Awards and earlier in the year the Yorkshire & Humber Institute of Fundraising awarded our Fundraising & Communications Team with 'Fundraising Team of the Year'. We are a small but incredibly passionate and driven organisation that is proud and supportive of our people - together we make the biggest impact for our community.

The Role

The Community & Special Funds Fundraising Officer will contribute to the overall fundraising strategy by building exceptional supporter relationships that maximise income generation and supporter recruitment & retention.

You will operate as a key member of the Community Fundraising Team and will have the opportunity to explore new exciting opportunities for the charity. You will be a primary contact managing a variety of Special Fund relationships. You will also respond to and manage emerging community fundraising opportunities as they arise.

In the first few months of the role there will also be some varied temporary responsibilities to help with the delivery of the charity’s virtual fundraising challenges.

About You

The ideal candidate will bring a mature attitude who can effectively and empathetically communicate with supporters, patients, relatives of patients and wider charity colleagues. You will have a can-do, proactive attitude and will be a team-player, happy to help colleagues if required. You will have demonstrable experience of working in a fundraising role for over 1 year and will have an understanding for various fundraising practices.

Applications from around the Leeds area and national home-based applications will be accepted, however, please note travel to the charity office in Leeds will be required approximately once a month.

Application Process

  1. Application Form & CV submission closing date: Wednesday 30th September
  2. Telephone interviews 1st & 2nd October
  3. Face to face interviews W/C 5th October
