Portland Press Limited – the wholly-owned subsidiary of the Biochemical Society – is seeking a Non-Executive Director to join its Board.
The current Board is a dynamic forum comprising a mix of Biochemical Society Trustees and specialist Non-Executive Directors.
This is a pivotal time for the organisation as it capitalises on links between Portland Press and the Society and continues to navigate open science and changes across the wider academic publishing landscape. Publishing is key to the research dissemination goals of the Group and vital to the financial viability of the Society.
We are looking for individuals who are excited about contributing to the Group’s endeavours over the coming three-year period. The successful candidates will have:
• Demonstrable recent experience in evolving scholarly publishing and content services to meet the changing needs of researchers across the globe.
• Deep knowledge of making business-model changes and sculpting/structuring new commercial offerings.
• Awareness of research-funder policy shifts, with ideas about how to navigate these changes.
In addition you should meet the eligibility requirements for company directors, be able to commit the time necessary to fulfil the duties of the role, and understand the associated legal responsibilities.
This role offers a remuneration package of £7,500 per annum and will require the quarterly review of reporting in line with attendance at four board meetings per year.
It is intended that interviews will take place by the end of June 2026. The role will commence from January 2027 onwards, with a preceding period of shadowing (from September 2026).

The role
The post holder will work alongside our Co-Executive Director, Head of Legal and Legal Administrator in developing and managing Foxglove’s legal work. You will develop and drive forward a significant number and range of cases, including the development of case theories, investigating and collecting evidence, drafting correspondence, evidence and submissions. You will also be responsible for coordinating and managing external legal teams, in multiple jurisdictions. This will require you to have the comfort and ability to navigate diverse settings, while also having the insight to weigh up the benefits and challenges of pursuing cases in different jurisdictions. You will serve as an external representative for Foxglove’s work, writing and speaking on topics of relevance. You will also be a sparring partner for others in the team, bringing a creative mindset and political savviness. UK and international travel are required. The role is permanent. The annual salary is £88,400 per annum less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance.
Our team works remotely, and this role can be based anywhere. We would prefer you to work within or close to UK office hours, but this is flexible. Our team travels every two months for team days and twice a year for team retreats. This role will include significant UK and international travel. Only candidates with the right to work in their location will be considered.

Not Beyond Redemption is looking for a dedicated and organised Solicitor to provide guidance and supervision to Pro Bono Solicitors and volunteers from our partner firms who assist with casework in private children law matters. The charity is seeking a Solicitor (minimum of 1 year PQE, preferably in family law) to work on a remote basis. Not Beyond Redemption is a charity founded by Camilla Baldwin that provides free family legal advice and representation to women in prison. The charity's focus is to re-establish critical access and relationships between mothers and their children. The scope of the work is varied and ranges from helping women with a myriad of legal matters, including understanding their rights, negotiating with carers and representing them in courts across the country. The charity currently holds legal clinics in all 12 women’s prisons across England.
The Role
Location: Primarily remote working. Occasional travel to HMP Low Newton in Durham (every 2/3 months) to lead the legal clinics -with additional travel to other women's prisons as required.
Purpose of the position:To supervise a caseload of private law family cases and to assist with the Northern legal prison clinics.

About Action Tutoring
At Action Tutoring, we believe every child should be given the opportunity to succeed in school. But in the UK today, young people from disadvantaged backgrounds are less likely to
achieve the grades they need to progress in life. This isn't because they are any less able; they have less access to the tools to help them reach their potential.
We don't think this is fair. We know tutoring is an effective way of improving academic attainment and so we harness the power of volunteer tutors to bridge the gap and ensure this help can be accessed by every pupil who needs it, not just those who can afford it.
We specifically help pupils facing socio-economic disadvantage and who are at risk of leaving primary or secondary school without reaching national standards in their exams. We work in partnership with schools in different cities and regions across the UK, delivering weekly tutoring in English or maths to those pupils who need it most.
About the opportunity
We are looking for a strong candidate with formal teaching qualifications and experience teaching core National Curriculum subjects to join our established Impact and Quality department as Curriculum and Quality Manager. This role has oversight for ensuring the creation and delivery of high-quality, tailored tutoring resources for pupils and tutors, and managing the quality assurance processes within our organisation. This role includes line managing a team composed of two Curriculum Leads. You will also work closely with colleagues in the Marketing and Communications Department to provide matrix project leadership for the delivery of Initial Tutor Training.
To achieve this, we are looking for a candidate with experience teaching either English or maths (or equivalent) with a willingness to quickly understand the curriculum requirements in the other subject. This is an exciting opportunity to join the New Economics Foundation to work as a community organiser on the Women Bridging Communities programme in Greater Manchester.
At its core, the programme responds to a critical and growing challenge: the erosion of trust, increasing polarisation, and fragmentation across communities in the UK. The programmes centres the distinct role women already play in sustaining communities.
Women Bridging Communities creates the conditions for women across differences to come together, build relationships, strengthen relational power, and shape the spaces where decisions and influence sit.
Reporting to the Senior Community Organiser, your focus will be on building the power and leadership of women in Greater Manchester in order to tackle polarisation through collective action. This work will involve developing leaders’ organising craft and leadership, listening to people about the issues in their local areas, identifying local campaigns and leaders, and equipping people with organising skills to take action together at a local and regional level.
You will need to be an experienced organiser and campaigner. You must have a demonstratable commitment to women and addressing polarisation, and be skilled in facilitation and communication with a wide range of audiences. You must have a track record of working with a diverse range of groups and have an understanding of the wider political context causing polarisation.
Role: Greater Manchester Community Organiser
Hours of work: Part Time (24 hours per week)
Salary: £42, 868 - £45,850 pro rata
Location: Based in Greater Manchester.

CCLI is a UK charity working at the intersection of law, finance and sustainability, with a global reputation for producing rigorous legal analysis that helps clarify how existing legal frameworks apply to climate and nature-related financial risks. This newly created role will play a key part in shaping CCLI’s expanding programme of work on investor fiduciary duties across the UK financial sector.
The postholder will lead the development and delivery of CCLI’s UK investor fiduciary workstream, initially focusing on the insurance, pensions and banking sectors. This will involve scoping and commissioning authoritative legal analysis from leading commercial law firms and academics, translating complex legal findings into practical guidance for boards, trustees and their advisers, and tracking relevant regulatory and disclosure developments across the financial services landscape. The role involves building and maintaining relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including institutional investors, regulators, professional bodies, and the legal community, as well as representing CCLI at conferences, roundtables and other external forums. Working closely with the Executive Director within a small and collaborative team, the successful candidate will also contribute to communications, strategic development and fundraising activity.
We are looking for a qualified solicitor or barrister in England and Wales with strong expertise in financial services law, ideally in insurance, banking, or pensions. Candidates should be able to demonstrate clear engagement with climate change or environmental sustainability, whether through their professional work, research, writing, pro bono activity, or other initiatives that connect legal practice with climate- and nature-related financial risks. To be successful, you need to bring a deep understanding of how financial institutions are structured and regulated, alongside a demonstrable commitment to addressing climate and nature-related financial risks through legal and governance frameworks. You will be a confident communicator, confident and effective in public speaking, with the ability to represent the organisation at conferences, roundtables and stakeholder events, and to communicate complex legal ideas clearly to diverse audiences. This role would suit a self-starter who is comfortable working with a high degree of ownership in a small, purpose-driven organisation and who is motivated by the opportunity to apply their legal expertise to drive meaningful change.
