About the role:
This role is office based in Merrion House, Leeds, although we are currently working on a flexible rota which also includes some days working from home. There may be occasional travel required for training and development purposes.
As a Referral Centre Advocate you will be:
Working within the Leeds Victim Support team, supporting victims of all types of crime.
Contacting victims of crime by telephone, carrying out needs and risk assessments following agreed processes and timescales. Facilitating the delivery of identified needs by referral on to another appropriate service on behalf of the victim using agreed processes or by directing referrals to an appropriate colleague to allocate to a Victim Support Caseworker or Volunteer.
Managing victims immediate service needs where necessary
Recording all contacts with victims of crime securely and accurately on the VS Case Management System, and in accordance with procedures for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
Carrying out any other duties as and when required by the Team Leader or Operations Manager
You will need:
- Experience of delivering a service in a statutory, voluntary, community or private social care setting
- To be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, including telephone skills
- To be able to deal sensitively with challenging and emotionally charged situations, demonstrate empathy and control your own emotions
- To be computer literate with good typing skills

The CSI Officer, reporting to the Head of CSI, delivers a full-range of activities, from providing a high quality service and experience to 38 Degrees' community of supporters and stakeholders, to collecting and reporting on relevant data and information and providing analysis of what we hear from the community of supporters and target audiences
The Officer role is responsible for making recommendations that contribute to ongoing CSI analysis and campaign decisions, using a variety of data points and channels, supporting the wider team to utilise community insights to make 38 Degrees more impactful and engaging, and to empower the 38 Degrees community. Our client provide residential services for young people aged 16-25 years old. The young people they care for often require a high level of support to assist with difficulties they may have from self-harming, behaviour, and emotional difficulties. Their aim is to support the young people using a therapeutic approach to help them achieve their individual goals, in preparation for transition to adult life.
Their homes are always a hub of activity and energy where the young people can feel safe, and their staff enjoy coming to work. Your role will involve working with their young people to promote independence through support with education, household tasks and general life skills. You will also assist them with everyday life skills including shopping, building positive relationships, and going on holidays. They always encourage their young people and staff to bring their hobbies and knowledge into the home whether this be knitting, fitness, cooking or even singing so there is never a dull moment. Part of the role will be managing various levels of self-harm using a least restrictive approach, so you will require a high level of resilience and have a caring, compassionate nature. You will also update online care records and complete medication administration. In addition, you will be responsible for the
general upkeep and tidiness of the home ensuring the young people live in homely environment.
As a Waking Night Support Worker you will be required to lone work but will be supported by the On Call Managers and also another member of staff if required ,who will be completing the sleep in shift.
Previous care experience is not essential and full training will be provided. You will receive ongoing support and mentoring from our friendly residential and clinical team.

Essential requirements of a Waking Night Support Worker
- Flexibility - Your role will involve working shifts including weekends and bank holidays
- Must be able to attend training throughout employment which will be held on weekdays
- Good written skills and the ability to write basic reports and record information accurately
- Basic IT skills (Your role will involve some computer work, completing forms, using an online care system, and writing emails)
- Good verbal communication skills and the ability to listen to others
- An understanding of the issues around confidentiality
- An understanding of safeguarding
- A professional working boundary between staff and service users
- Ability to remain calm in emergencies, supporting others during difficult situations
Desirable Criteria of a Waking Night Support Worker
- Full UK Driving Licence
- NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Care
- Previous experience of working with young people who have mental health needs

Job Title: Birth & Beyond Community Support Team Leader (Fenland & East Cambridgeshire area)
Salary: £18,749 FTE
Hours per week: 14 hours
Fixed term contract until 31st March 2023
We are looking for a talented individual to support our local Birth & Beyond Community Support Programme Manager to deliver our volunteer peer support project in the Fenland & East Sussex areas. This is a temporary contract until 31st March 2023, with the possibly of extension, subject to ongoing funding. This role is home-based but will include travel (sometimes at short notice) across the specified area, so easy access to transport and a flexible approach to working are essential. The post will be for 14 hours per week.
A largely pastoral role, the Team Leader will support the wellbeing and organisation of volunteers and facilitate reliable support from this team, ensuring that peer supporters are present at local face-to-face and remote BBCS support groups and one-to-one meetings/calls with clients referred into the service. You must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to quickly create a rapport with volunteers, service users, NCT practitioners and a range of staff from local services. An understanding of perinatal wellbeing support pathways is also essential to the post. This is a complex project and covers multiple locations, so you must be able to confidently prioritise your own work, be highly organised and able to work independently. Good IT skills will be essential – including Outlook, Word and Excel – and you must have excellent attention to detail. Ideally you will also have the skills to be able to engage via social media, and feel confident presenting the offer of the service at community events/to health care professionals/to other support agencies.
It is essential for this post that you are, or willing to undertake the training to become, a BBCS peer supporter. This training would be undertaken in addition to your paid hours.
