Responsibilities of our Individual Giving Assistant:
The Acquistion & Retention teams, which make up the Individual Giving team, work together to maxmise the long-term return on investment for individual donors. In this varied role, you will play a key part in delivering the charity’s Individual Giving programme from concept to delivery, ensuring communications are delivered on time, to the agreed audience, within budget and to the highest quality. You will support in managing relationships with various external agencies, ensuring Cats Protection receives the best possible service. You will also liaise with a number of internal departments to ensure they are briefed on Individual Giving Activity.

What we are looking for in our People & Culture Assistant:
· Experience of working in a complex administrative role within HR
· Experience of using HR/Payroll/recruitment ATS online systems
· Good numeracy and literacy skills
· Awareness of employment legislation
· Ability to effectively organise and work to tight deadlines with excellent attention to detail
· Ability to work independently and a willingness to contribute to team efficiency through sharing information and supporting others

Chapter One is a small but growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in eleven areas/regions of the UK and will support 3,300 children in 2024-25.
Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs disadvantaged, struggling five to eight-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.
This role is an exciting opportunity for someone to contribute to the work of our fast-growing charity. You will work as part of the Chapter One Support Team, ensuring that volunteers have everything that they need to make a success of their reading sessions with pupils. ROLE PURPOSE
As our Executive Assistant (Maternity Cover, 0.8 FTE, Fixed term for 12 months), you will play a crucial role in developing and supporting our charity and strengthening our administration and governance. You will be providing flexible assistance primarily to our CEO, in the planning and delivery of their workload. You will also provide administrative support to the Senior Leadership Team, Trustee Board and other structured groups which shape the charity’s strategy and activities, for example our Clinical Advisory Group. Key responsibilities:
Chief Executive Officer assistance
- Email and calendar management: helping to prioritise demands, responding to correspondence on behalf of the CEO and following up with contacts post-meetings.
- Arrange meetings and itineraries and coordinate travel as required.
- Stakeholder management support: utilising CRM to maintain updated databases for organisational contacts; support with the completion of contracts and registering purchase orders with suppliers,where the CEO is the lead contact.
Meeting management
- Plan and coordinate relevant meetings to ensure they are purposeful and relevant. These will include Board meetings, Senior Leadership Team Meetings, Leadership Group meetings and any other general committee meetings.

- Support with coordinating multi-stakeholder meetings, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

- Process any travel expenses for the Senior Leadership Team.
- Manage charity records: provide historical reference by supporting procedures for the retention and disposal of records.

About the role
Smart Works is volunteer-powered and exists to empower all women who need help getting into work. As such, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for a proactive self-starter with outstanding leadership skills to take on the pivotal role of being the Head of Smart Works Scotland. Reporting to the Chair of the Trustee Board, the role is responsible for developing and delivering our core strategies and for the overall operation of our two centres in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
In practice, this involves leading a small staff team to thrive in their roles and deliver outstanding results, with direct line management responsibilities for 3 team members out of 8. It also includes representing our charity to a range of stakeholders across the region, contributing to our ambitious client targets and unlocking vital funds to deliver the Three Year Plan.

The role will be based in our Edinburgh or Glasgow centre, and flexible working options are available.

Duties and responsibilities
- Leading a staff team of 8 across two centres, ensuring all team members are thriving in their roles and continuing to develop their skills.
- Supporting each direct report with project deliverables and identifying continuous improvement opportunities in our ways of working.
- Oversee the smooth running of both centres, ensuring all client and service delivery targets are on track and all protocols such as safeguarding and governance are adhered to.
- Setting and delivering our core strategies, across all functional areas.
- Working with various staff members on targeted campaigns and corporate partnerships, providing guidance and support on the annual fundraising target c. £400k via our three revenue streams - Corporate, Community and Events, Grants and Trusts.
- Manage the day-to-day costs of the budget, contributing to timely process reconciliation with the Board Treasurer and Group Finance Team.
- Delivering financial activities to target, maintaining an up to date database with relevant income tracking and pipeline information to facilitate regular financial reporting to the Board of Trustees and timely process reconciliation with the Board Treasurer and Group Finance team.
- Supporting the team to raise awareness of our charity and increase our supporter community through social media campaigns and in-person events throughout the year.
Personal Specification
Essential Criteria
- Outstanding interpersonal and team management / leadership skills.
- Significant experience of generating income from a variety of sources, including Events, Trusts, Foundations, Community and Corporate sponsorship.
- Demonstrable experience of securing new business and onboarding new partnerships.
- Experience of managing four figure+ partnerships across the following activities: employee fundraising, sponsorship, commercial or grants.
- A strong networker, with relationship management experience across seniority levels and sectors.
- Strong presentation skills, with prior experience delivering engaging sessions to large audiences.
- Experience of balancing changing priorities and responding to delivery needs.
- Proactive approach to problem solving, with an entrepreneurial attitude towards fundraising strategy.
- Ability to work autonomously and also have a strong team focus and ethic.
- Good working knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, CRM systems.
- Target driven, with excellent organisation and time management skills to meet deadlines and monthly / quarterly KPIs.
Desirable Criteria
- An understanding of the employment and skills landscape in Scotland.
- Experience of working collaboratively with volunteer teams and / or in the not for profit sector.
- Financially aware, able to interpret basic financial accounts for reporting purposes.

This role will deliver Kidney Care UK’s Patient Support and Advocacy service in the Brighton region. This varied role deals with every aspect of a patient’s life that supports better outcomes: welfare benefits, practical, emotional and social support. As well as directly supporting patients, you will raise awareness of the wide range of local and national resources available to kidney patients, and build strong relationships with kidney patients, professionals, and other stakeholder groups in the region.
Based at home (laptop and mobile phone provided), you will be expected to travel independently across the Brighton area and manage your own caseload with the support of your line manager and other members of our national friendly, committed team.
We’ll provide the training, you’ll bring enthusiasm and your experience of working with chronically ill patients in a social, care or health role.
