The role
Join us as our Principal M&E Engineer (Projects) and drive our M&E refurbishment program (Circa £4M to £6M per annum) across our diverse portfolio of M&E assets, from our mechanised locks and bridges – some of the oldest in the UK, pumping stations and water control structures, not to mention the historic Anderton Boat Lift as well as the very new. You will assess outputs from inspections, design and develop solutions, and produce specifications, and briefs to deliver works through our national framework contractors or in-house M&E delivery teams. Acting as delegated Sponsor under the Trusts Infrastructure Risk Framework, you will have the accountability for ensuring that the M&E program is governed effectively and delivers the objectives to meet the identified needs.
Your team will undertake the role of design lead within our project delivery teams, acting as the subject matter expert supporting the project manager. You will be joining us at a very exciting time for the team when we are planning future national M&E refurbishment delivery contracts and looking to deliver more work internally.
You will join an inclusive and diversely skilled team of professional Mechanical, Electrical, SCADA and ICA Engineers, and M&E skilled technicians and operatives, that work together, share knowledge and skills and support each other.

Business Intelligence Developer
Position type: Full time, permanent, 37.5 hours per week

Location: Truro, Cornwall (hybrid – mixture of office and home working) or remote working (UK only) may be considered (with regular travel to Truro at least 4x per year).
About the Role
As a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer, you will collaborate with our Business Analyst (BA) Manager to design, develop, implement, document, and maintain robust data modelling and reporting solutions. Your role will involve hands-on work, including prototyping solutions, testing ideas, and collaborating with organisational colleagues. Working closely with our Data Manager and Data Technician, you will also contribute to our data warehousing solution and the development of data pipelines and be responsible for data preparation, modelling, and utilising DAX. You will also work closely with our fundraising Insight team, creating analytic solutions to support our fundraising efforts.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking an individual who is passionate about data and analytics and possesses meticulous attention to detail. You should be driven to produce high-quality solutions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prioritise tasks and efficiently manage multiple responsibilities are essential. Furthermore, you should have experience with the following technologies and a solid understanding of querying, query optimisation, dimensional modelling design, and data visualisation techniques:

What you will be doing in the role:
- Working with people across the organisation to understand their analytical requirements.
- Developing, testing, and implementing analytical solutions and data visualisations that empower teams to gain valuable insights from their data.
- Taking ownership of new and existing data models.
- Managing the lifecycle of data models and reporting solutions.
- Working with the BA Manager to define best practices and facilitate knowledge sharing for Power BI development, governance, and deployment across the organisation.
- Ensuring that development aligns with the overall BI strategy and adheres to best practices.
- Responding to incidents and change requests related to existing solutions via our AutoTask helpdesk solution.
- Updating and managing tickets appropriately and timely as the Service Desk Manager sets out, ensuring good communication and customer satisfaction.
- Composing technical and team documentation as required.
- Collaborating and demonstrating analytical solutions to the broader team before roll-out.
- Offering input and advice on processes and practices to improve the team's efficiency and effectiveness.
- Assisting with implementing new solutions, as necessary, with the Business Systems Transformation project.
- To undertake any other duties as requested by the IT management team per the scope and responsibilities of the role.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape, build and deliver the Society’s aim to provide and promote pathways into “green jobs”. You will be responsible for the Society’s engagement and work with educational settings covering technical, apprenticeship and degree programmes.
About the Role:
As a new role for SocEnv, this is a fantastic opportunity to shape and establish the delivery of the Society’s engagement with training and education providers. Through the development of underpinning vocational and technical pathways to registration, including recognition of education, apprenticeship, and development programmes, you will contribute to the overarching goal of sustainability through environmental professionalism. The successful applicant will deliver the following:
- Manage the development and delivery of the Society’s provider engagement strategy.
- Keep abreast of education and skills developments relevant to the Society’s interests and provide timely briefings for the CEO.
- Create and manage a Skills & Education group with the Society’s Member Bodies.
- Facilitate mapping of SocEnv registrations to green jobs and associated entry routes and career pathways.
- Contribute to the development of standards, processes and guidance.
- Collate and maintain an accessible and up-to-date information hub, including briefing materials on UK and international apprenticeships, vocational and technical education and associated policy – and using this to keep internal and external colleagues informed.
- Draft the Society’s response to consultations on education and skills matters.
- In collaboration with the Employer Engagement Manager, manage the Society’s external education and skills relationships.
- Work with colleagues to support SocEnv’s engagement with external stakeholders including international partners.
- Represent SocEnv at external meetings and build strategic relationships with key partners.
- Act as the Staff lead for relevant committees/working groups as required: producing agendas, papers, reports and minutes, briefing Chairs and members as required, and delivering actions.
- Comply with data protection legislation and act responsibly on matters of data disclosure both internally and to third parties.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Demonstrable knowledge of the HE and/or Apprenticeships sectors, with an awareness of the other key stakeholders in these sectors.
- A keen networker, confident in building and developing effective working relationships internally and externally, including at a senior level.
- An effective and compelling communicator, both in written work and in oral presentation – comfortable using a range of mediums of communication, including virtual platforms.
- A competent researcher, able to analyse information to produce reports suited to a variety of audiences.
- Confident and proactive, able to manage own time effectively and efficiently, prioritising where necessary to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Careful and methodical with data, with an eye for detail.
- Experienced in managing several projects simultaneously.
- A systems-thinker who can identify risks and problems and devise solutions.
- A life-long learner, committed to acquiring, developing and applying specialist knowledge and understanding.
- An effective team player.
- Experienced in use of MS Office applications, especially Word, Excel and Outlook, to be able to produce well-formatted reports and spreadsheets.

- Experienced in working in a regulatory/professional body environment or similar, or in an education support function.
- Educated to degree level or with relevant professional experience.

They are the custodian of the Chartered Environmentalist, Registered Environmental Practitioner and Registered Environmental Technician professional registers, and since 2004 have established a sound platform as the body tasked with championing and registering the expertise of environmental professionals across sectors.
