Job description

Catch22 supports people through education, employment, mental health and emotional support and social care services. We reach out to people in their communities and help them get the support they need. Last year we supported over 110,000 people across England and Wales to lead better lives.

Job Description

As a Senior Development Manager (Partnerships), you will be central to Catch22’s work with partners and supporters, maximising our ability to generate positive social impact with your relationship-building and fundraising skills. This role is central to Catch22 Development Team’s ambitious plans for finding like-minded partners who want to change the world.

Reporting to the Director of Partnerships, you will be joining an entrepreneurial, energetic and passionate unit with a fun but hardworking culture, all relentlessly committed to Catch22’s core mission and purpose: to build resilience and aspiration in people and communities that need it the most. This is a relatively new unit and, with significant recent success, we want more brilliant people to join us to help move things forward.

You will have autonomy over sourcing and securing partnerships that contribute to Catch22’s overall development objectives, including fundraising goals. Most of the time you will be expected to operate under your own initiative and curiosity, researching and identifying partners, and winning them over with solid cases for support and your enthusiasm and belief in the work that we do.

Relationships will be at the centre of what you do, and getting alongside, impressing, and persuading people will be key to your and our collective success. A Development Manager will report to you and support with market research, proposal writing and development and general project management.

The Development Team as a whole is the engine room of Catch22’s mission and business plan. It also consists of the Business Development and Communications and Marketing units and collectively seeks to grow our reach, influence, impact and secure funds that allow us to change peoples’ lives for the better. Qualifications

About You

  • You are engaging and build solid relationships. A master communicator adept at expressing complex ideas simply and telling compelling stories. You listen well, and find ways to build rapport with others quickly.
  • You can think strategically and know how to connect to the essence of what Catch22 does. You understand what we are trying to achieve and how this might align to what other organisations are trying to achieve and can persuade them of the win-win.
  • You’re exceptionally well-organised. You can keep on top of a shifting set of projects and opportunities and constantly seek new ones to keep the pipeline fresh.  You can project manage not just the work, but the people involved to keep energy levels and momentum up.
  • You can think big and challenge ideas. You’re not constrained by traditional ideas of philanthropic giving or ‘charity’. You understand social outcomes, but can balance up commercial risk and reward. You can apply business-minded thinking to helping us achieve our goals.
  • You can write, pitch and present brilliantly and are confident flying solo. You know how to summarise complex information succinctly, and how to get into the mindset of the audience to pitch it in the right way. You’re confident engaging at a senior level and enthusiastically pursuing decision-makers.
  • You’re not afraid of working hard in pursuit of a big vision. You have resilience, dedication and a keen interest in the sectors we’re working in – and you read around the subject in order to remain sharp in the pitch. You bounce back quickly at times of high stress and from inevitable setbacks. You celebrate success, finding and securing partnerships that fit the strategic vision of Catch22.

Additional information

Salary: up to £45,000 pa, depending on experience

Closing date: 19th September 2021

Stage 1: Informal interviews: you will receive a 30 minute call w/c 20th September from the hiring manager to discuss the role - you are welcome to bring any questions here. 

Stage 2: competency test: you will be asked to complete a short task in your own time to assess specific skills.

Stage 3: Panel interview: 4th October 2021 (virtual call) you will be invited to this interview likely 30th Sep / 1st Oct so please be prepared for late confirmation of your interview time. 

Stage 4: Final 1-1 interview with our Chief Development Officer (w/c 4th Oct).

Start date: dependent on notice period.
