Trustee Volunteer Roles in Greater London
The Vagina Museum is the world's first bricks and mortar museum dedicated to vaginas, vulvas & the gynaecological anatomy. The idea was born in 2017 after realising that there was a penis museum in Iceland, but no museum dedicated to vaginas and vulvas, anywhere in the world.
Our values are cemented with respect, integrity, empowerment and inclusiveness and our mission is to spread knowledge and raise awareness of the gynaecological anatomy and health.
We are looking to strengthen our existing Board of Trustees and are particularly interested in hearing from people with expertise in the following areas:
- Fundraising
- Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
- Education or outreach in school-based settings
- Marketing
- Finance
As the Vagina Museum enters an exciting new phase following the securing of our new permanent home in Bethnal Green, we are also looking to recruit a new Chair of the Trustee board. If you are interested in this role, please make it clear within your application.
There is no need to have trustee experience to apply. However, an interest in the promotion of intersectional feminism is necessary. The Vagina Museum holds and promotes the values of equality, diversity and inclusivity and we are seeking trustees who would be ambassadors to these values. We particularly welcome applications from Black and Asian people, and people who are trans or identify as non-binary as they are underrepresented on the current board.
Meetings are flexible and normally online via Zoom or Google Meet. They typically fall on weekday evenings, but setting the meeting schedule is done through board consensus.
Responsibilities:
- Attend monthly Board meetings and an annual planning day
- Fundraising
- Fulfilling administrative, financial and legal requirements
- Willingness to familiarise themselves with the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship.
Be a challenging advocate, as well as diligent and passionate about the mission and work of the Museum

Hammersmith United Charities is a thriving organisation that has been supporting local people for over 400 years. Hammersmith is a vibrant and diverse community, rich in cultural assets, global businesses and esteemed academic institutions. However, the area is also characterised by extreme levels of inequality, with London’s busiest foodbank located side-by-side with luxury developments. Hammersmith United Charities supports the community and combats inequality through three key areas of activity.
They provide high-quality sheltered housing to nearly 100 older people who have been priced out of local housing options. Their beautiful and affordable Almshouses have excellent facilities, award-winning gardens and a welcoming community. The Charity also provides grants to community-led organisations striving to create a more equal society. Their grants programme awards £400,000 per year to Charities that make Hammersmith a better place. Furthermore, Hammersmith United Charities are heavily involved in community action. They strengthen the community by giving people a voice and nurturing local initiatives. Our organisation has great demand but has suffered over the last 12 months due to reduced funding. We seek Trustees with fundraising experience or from the LGBTQI+ community who can help us as we continue to meet our growing needs.
What will you be doing?
We are currently looking for two new Trustees. Our Trustees are like a non-executive board of directors - although they are not involved in the day-to-day running of the charity, they oversee what we do and make sure we stay on track, meeting 4 times per year in Accrington or via Teams for up to 2 hours at a time. In between meetings, the charity's management and admin team might call on the trustees for particular issues with which they need help or support, such as proofreading funding applications, working on developing specific projects using a trustee's contacts or area of expertise, or simply when a sounding board for new ideas is needed.
Our trustees may also come to our events a few times a year to keep up with what we are doing - this is arranged as convenient for the trustees.
New trustees will be joining our board, which currently stands at 5. The only absolute requirements are that you are interested in and enthusiastic about what we do and that you are willing to work to support the charity using any skills, knowledge, or contacts that you have that may be relevant.
What are we looking for?
We are currently looking to grow and expand and are particularly keen to hear from potential trustees from the
LGBTQI+ community or who have fundraising experience. However, if you are interested and have other skills or experience, please do get in touch - we welcome interest from all potential Trustees, regardless of their skills or background, as long as they are enthusiastic about what we do and are keen to support our work. We particularly welcome applications from women and from people of colour as we are looking to improve the diversity of our board.
What difference will you make?
The RYC is going through a rough time at the moment as we respond to increased demand and reduced funding.Your presence and work on our Board of Trustees could help us reach hundreds of children and young people across the North-West who are the most vulnerable in our society. Living with issues such as eating disorders, anxiety, self-harm or suicidal tendencies, these young people are forgotten by mainstream clubs, therefore missing out on the social benefits of having friends or a safe space to connect or ask for help, especially in the wake of COVID-19 and the cost-of-living crisis.
You and your experience will help us reach our goals and develop our work more quickly and effectively, meaning we can get the most out of our resources and people.

Please send your CV and cover letter

Treasurer needed for an established psychotherapy charity. We are part way through a change process at Share having moved premises in 2023. We are developing and strengthening our clinical services, improving our administrative and business systems and strengthening our financial position. We want to build upon our position as a centre of excellence in psychotherapy and make an even bigger contribution to improving mental health in Sheffield.
Would you like to volunteer for an established psychotherapy charity? We work at the vital intersection of psychological distress and poverty in the city and provide an excellent learning environment for qualified and qualifying counsellors and therapists alike.
We’re looking for a suitably qualified accountant to join us as our Treasurer, taking the lead on financial matters but also playing a full role on the Board of Trustees in the overall management of the charity.
The role would suit an experienced accountant wishing to contribute on a voluntary basis to a valuable charitable cause. Equally it would provide excellent board level experience for a young professional at an earlier stage in their career.
We have strong clinical services, administrative and business systems in place and continue to seek to increase and diversify our income. We want to make an even bigger contribution to improving mental health in Sheffield and we’re especially keen to attract people from minority communities to the Board.
For an informal chat please contact one of the co-chairs, Lynn or Astrid.
