Marketing & Recruitment Officer

Role Summary:

The Teacher Development Trust are seeking an energetic, curious and highly organised Marketing & Recruitment Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for education and the important work of teachers and schools. They will  play a pivotal role in increasing our reach and impact by promoting our offers to schools, trusts and other education sector organisations, generating leads and supporting school engagement by executing effective marketing strategies.

Location: TDT’s offices are based in Finsbury Park. This role is mainly home-working, however applicants will need to be a commutable distance to the London office to take part in team days or other face to face meetings as required.

Hours per week: 37.5

Contract basis: Full time

Contract type: Permanent

Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 per annum depending on experience

As we consolidate and expand the reach of our work, we are now seeking an energetic, curious and highly organised Marketing and Recruitment Officer to join our team.  A commitment to working in education is a must.

We're looking for a proactive, confident communicator with an understanding of the education landscape to join our team in supporting our existing services and programmes. We have an excellent track record of developing staff within the charity, as well as staff who have taken their careers into schools, other charities and the public sector.

Particular to the Marketing and Recruitment Officer, guided by  by the School Engagement Manager:

• To contribute to the creation of strategic marketing plans to promote Teacher Development Trust's services.  Helping to shape activity to provide a better understanding of the efficacy and reach of our products and services and ensuring that information and data are shared effectively across the organisation.

• To utilise various marketing channels including digital platforms, social media, website and traditional marketing methods including email and newsletters, to reach target audiences.  You will collaborate with the team to create and distribute compelling content, promotional materials and campaigns.

• To stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities and emerging opportunities and share this information as appropriate across the organisation to put TDT in the best position to respond in the advancement of our charitable aims and objectives.

• To support the planning and organisation of events such as workshops, webinars and conferences to showcase Teacher Development Trust's offerings and coordinate TDT presence at external events.  This will include representing the organisation at events to network and promote our services.

• To work closely with the internal teams, including the content development and participant experience teams, to ensure seamless service delivery, satisfaction, retention and brand loyalty.  You will also collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to explore potential synergies and business opportunities.

• To support the wider interaction between the organisation and the sector, in particular supporting carefully planned and considered marketing and communications activity as well as responding to emerging news stories and other agendas.  Where appropriate this may include working with journalists and other key sector influencers.

Experience, qualities and skills:

• Proven experience in marketing roles either within the education sector or elsewhere.

• Knowledge of the current educational landscape, including an understanding of professional development or a genuine interest in developing that knowledge.

• An active interest in continuously developing both generalist and technical marketing expertise.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present information clearly, striking the correct tone with a range of internal and external audiences.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Excellent problem solving skills and the initiative to continuously improve.

• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.

• Familiarity with digital marketing tools and platforms (Salesforce, Mailchimp, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Asana, Divi, Wordpress)  would be an advantage but not essential - the appetite to learn is essential.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

• A strong commitment to education, the non-profit sector and improving educational outcomes for children and young people.

We’re looking for a motivated Grants and Administration Officer. We are happy to consider someone who is newer to grant-making but with deep experience of the charitable sector. We will be looking for someone with aptitude for the duties below who will be able to work independently following training where needed. Alternatively, we would be open to a candidate with experience of grant management who can hit the ground running. The salary offered will be commensurate with experience.

The role is split between grants assessment and management and providing administrative support to the team. A more detailed outline of the duties can be found below. We expect the majority of the role to be focused on grants assessment and are looking for someone with a good ability to prioritise a varied workload.

Some travel within the UK will be required for visits to applicant charities and grantees with the possibility of very occasional overnight stays.

Duties

Grants assessment and management:

• Process grant applications. This includes:

o Visiting, meeting and corresponding with applicants.

o Reviewing, requesting and analysing relevant information.

o Providing feedback on unsuccessful applications.

o Preparing written recommendations for submission to the Board and presenting at Board meetings.

• Monitor progress on grants awarded.

• Ensure the timely and accurate recording of activities and transactions with applicants and grantees through the Trust’s database, Salesforce CRM.

• Represent the Trust at public events such as seminars and receptions.

• Contribute to the Trust’s ‘grants-plus’ activity, which aims to support the work of applicant charities through sharing knowledge and experience of good practice and brokering pro-bono consultancy support.

• Take on specific research in relation to current funding priorities or potential new areas of activity, as required.

Administrative support:

• First point of contact for enquiries and invitations to the Trust by post, email and on the phone.

• Responsible for day-to-day management of the Trust’s digital systems. This includes Salesforce, Box, Wordpress, Cognito, Zapier and Lastpass. Specific duties vary by programme but generally include keeping data current, ensuring staff have relevant access rights and permissions, and backing up data on a regular basis. Training will be provided on all of these systems.

• Manage the Trust’s subscriptions and memberships (e.g. Association of Charitable Foundations, ICO).

• Maintain the Trust’s register of interests.

• Prepare Board papers and Minutes (printing, binding and posting papers).

• Update 360giving with the Trust’s grants data (training will be provided).

• Support meetings (circulating calendar invitations, booking meeting space, organising catering and on-the-day setup and close down).

• General office duties including keeping the office stocked with stationery and tea/coffee and welcoming visitors to the Trust. Lead on the office security systems and dealing with contractors.

• Evidence of right to work in the UK.

Skills and Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of and demonstrable interest in the non-profit sector.

• Experience of grant management, including the due diligence process, presenting to decision-making committees and monitoring of grants. This could be from grant-making or fundraising work.

• Ability to understand and analyse information from applicant organisations including:

o Financial documents (including charity accounts, management accounts, cashflow forecasts and project budgets).

o Monitoring and learning processes.

o Strategic plans.

o Impact reports and evaluation materials.

• Ability to synthesise the above information, along with in-person meetings, to produce clear and accurate written summaries and recommendations to be put to the Director and Trustees.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• Good judgement.

• Excellent written and oral presentation skills.

• Well-organised with a proven ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload and work to deadlines.

• Good interpersonal skills, able to communicate with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and over different media (e.g. on the phone, email or in person).

• Proficiency and confidence in using IT. The Trust conducts most of its business using cloud-based systems including Microsoft Office 365, Box and Salesforce.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the strategy to build philanthropic giving at EHAAT in consultation with the CEO, Executive Team, Trustees and Development Board, to support the charity’s objectives and long term aims.
• Deliver a fundraising plan across the Philanthropy & Partnerships team, including major giving, legacies, trusts and foundations and corporate partnerships, to achieve agreed strategic objectives.
• Provide excellent executive support and guidance to the Development Board and the Chair, and take a leading role in building the Board further by identifying and recruiting to its membership and the wider pool of Ambassadors.
• Ensure philanthropic giving to the charity is strengthened through in-depth research, compelling proposals, wellcrafted approaches for gifts and excellent stewardship.
• Deliver regular activity and income reports and participate in the budgeting and forecasting of income in this area.

We are recruiting for a policy advisor to join our busy, supportive and high performing team. The current focus of this role is to analyse and influence the national policy agenda on NHS funding levels, financial performance, payments systems and contracting. This portfolio is one of the most high profile and reactive areas of work in our organisation and carries with it the opportunity to develop and lead projects, working closely with directors of NHS trusts and foundation trusts, and with the senior management of NHS Providers, including working closely with our media and public affairs teams.

The postholder will also support our policy work on other priority areas, such as ‘operational performance’ by which we mean access standards, progress against national targets, planning and prioritisation.

The NHS is in a significant period of reform, due to the legislative change establishing integrated care systems (ICSs) as statutory organisations in 2022. It is also in a uniquely challenging period due to ongoing operational and financial pressures, rising demand, workforce challenges, and the need to recover care backlogs. The reform agenda and operational context both mean trusts need to find new ways to work in their local systems and deliver for patients.

Head of UK Programmes is the senior lead on UK-wide grants and programmes, working closely with nation teams and fundraising to shape and deliver a sector leading portfolio of programmes that is evidence informed, and evidence generating, catalysing positive change for carer organisations and unpaid carers. This role requires an established social sector leader who is adept at demonstrating internal and external leadership,

You will be detail oriented and logical to provide robust programme quality and assurance expertise, yet equally comfortable to lead the organisation externally too. You will be passionate about positioning Carers Trust’s programmatic offer as relevant and additive, drawing on emerging and best practice from across our network of 126 carer organisations.

As a seasoned programmes professional your leadership accountability for UK Programmes spans from development through to implementation and you will work closely across the nations to steward and role model a joined up approach across Carers Trust’s programme cycle, leading to meaningful and coherent programming.

The role holder will instill a learning and continuous improvement culture across the programmes and impact community, to ensure that programmatic learning is used to inform our network offer, evolving research agenda and influencing activities. The post holder will lead a UK programmes team, and be able to work thematically on programmes for carers of all ages and will be comfortable with a matrix management approach to nation-specific programmes teams. This role is responsible for providing high-level support, managing complex projects and engaging with a wide variety of people on behalf of the Chief Network Officer. This role acts as a key point of communication with internal/external contacts, coordinates cross-organisational processes and projects, and manages the office, including liaising closely with senior members of the Operations and Network Programmes directorates.

Role responsibilities

· Managing and supporting a regular cycle of team and project meetings and events, including preparing project plans, management reports, ensuring the completion of actions, and supporting the strategy planning cycle.

· Liaising with key external contacts (food banks, partner organisations etc) on behalf of the Chief Network Officer, including maintaining regular correspondence, managing diary requests, and organising events and business travel.

· Conserving the Chief Network Officer’s time by reading, researching and routing correspondence, drafting letters and documents, collecting and analysing information and initiating communications.

· Acting as a project manager / stakeholder on behalf of the Chief Network Officer to ensure outcomes are achieved and information is communicated.

· Creating supporting materials for presentations, talks, conferences and planning meetings, including sourcing and preparing collateral, and formatting presentation slides etc.

· Curating and updating relevant information systems on behalf of the Chief Network Officer, including HR systems, finance systems, impact / performance systems and file storage.

Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our literacy and numeracy programme at HMP Aylesbury, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.
