Job Purpose:

To be responsible for coordinating volunteer recruitments, providing learning activities and providing volunteer management advice and guidance to staff who work with volunteers.

To establish positives relationships with volunteers to ensure they have a fulfilling volunteer experience.

To be responsible for transactional processes on the volunteer database ensuring it is up to date and delivers to meets the needs of volunteers and the organisation.

Main Responsibilities:

 -   To drive the strategic objective of maintaining and building the culture of voluntary action, empowering at least 300 volunteers per year by 2027.

– Lead recruitment and induction of volunteers for relevant services across the organisation by developing timelines for volunteer recruitments throughout the year.

– Lead on recruitment administration for volunteers including assisting with pre-employment checks and delivering induction course and on-boarding.

– To provide advice and guidance to service managers regarding suitability of potential roles with the relevant service managements.

– To provide effective and efficient administration of the volunteer databased ensuring all volunteer records are up to date.

– To maintain regular communication with volunteers, problem-solving and escalating any IT issues with the Head of Central Services as appropriate.

– To support line managers to ensure volunteers are aware of and adhere to YMCA ES policies, procedures, mission, vision, and values.

– To provide analysis as appropriate to the Head of Central Services on volunteer numbers, hours donated, activities and other metrics and impact measures.

– Ensure that volunteers have sufficient training, resources, and support to carry out their roles effectively, including developing and delivering a variety of reward and recognition activities to maximise engagement and retention of volunteers such as facilitating learning sessions.

– To promote the importance of volunteering internally through engagement activities, recognition schemes, and externally through recruitment drives, marketing and press campaigns, and other profile-raising activities.

– To obtain and provide analytics on volunteer engagement and facilitate peer group sessions to monitor progress of volunteers.

– To identify and oversee the design, development and delivery of relevant training, reward, and recognition activities to both upskill and retain volunteers.

– To work with the Head of Central Services to support the successful implementation of volunteer best practice and policy, to support the organisations strategic plan.

– Collaborate with the Head of Central Services and volunteers themselves to develop the volunteering programme, identifying and reducing barriers to volunteering and ensuring that all volunteering activity reflects YMCA ES values.

– To assist the Head of Central Services in the preparation of reports to the Senior Leadership Team and various committees as required.

– To assist the Head of Central Services in ensuring volunteer policies and procedures are maintained, up-to-date and fit for purpose.

– To support the coordination and delivery of key HR projects within the Department that will lead to the development of HR practices.

– To be responsible for the maintenance and storage of all volunteer data and records in line with the Data Protection Act and confidentiality.

– To develop and maintain effective relationships with all key stakeholders.

– To identify improvements and recommend these to the Head of Central Services for consideration.

You will play a key role in strengthening the movement, through helping to convene highly impactful campaigning coalitions and networks, seeding and supporting campaign interventions and offering expert support & advice.

Uplift uses research, campaigning, and advocacy to support a just transition away from fossil fuels in the UK on a timeline that is commensurate with a safe climate. We are looking for a Network Coordinator to help drive forward our network building and public campaigning activities across Scotland, and the UK. The role

If you’re passionate about climate justice, especially holding the UK government to account and have a coalition and movement mindset - valuing the importance of movement coordination and generosity, then this role could be perfect for you. You will need a strong understanding of the movement ecology in the UK, especially in Scotland, and understand the unique role different actors play in bringing about change.

Based in Scotland and with a good understanding of the Scottish movement ecology, you will be able to map and bring together groups, organisations, stakeholder and constituents to campaign on fossil fuels. You will strengthen partnerships and scope new allies whilst helping to drive forward campaigning interventions and mobilising groups around key moments throughout 2024 and beyond. You will work closely with key campaigning organisations in Scotland and internally with Uplifts Campaigns and Movement Building team to support network building activities across the UK.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

• Building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders, groups and organisations, across Scotland, and the rest of the UK, including with key allies campaigning to end oil and gas extraction.
• Coordinate network building and coalition activities to help strengthen the network of groups organising around a phase out of fossil fuels in the UK.
• Provide campaigning support and advice to groups wanting to take action on north sea oil and gas expansion and a just transition.
• Develop campaign resources and network communications in collaboration with key partners and networks.
• Help design and deliver mobilisations and actions across Scotland and support the execution of campaign strategies and interventions in collaboration with partners.
• Be the first point of contact for groups and organisations in Scotland - holding the central coordination function for Uplift.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have: 

• Experience in a similar or related role.
• Be based in Scotland and have a good working knowledge of the wider movement ecology in Scotland.
• A track record of guiding and supporting effective campaigning coalitions.
• A good understanding of campaign strategy and an ability to know when to apply a range of tactics based on target, audience and the campaign cycle.
• Previous experience of movement building, including an understanding of the principles of mobilising and organising and an appreciation of the role different actors (the grassroots, NGOs, unions etc) play in social change.

The Individual Giving Fundraiser will play a vital role in increasing income from our existing supporters. You will support donor acquisition as well as taking the lead on retention of our supporters across multiple channels including cash appeals, regular giving, lottery and in celebration giving. The role will also support the Head of Income in the delivery of a legacy and major donor program.

You will develop and deliver excellent stewardship programmes that drive retention by deepening audience understanding of the challenges that people affected by cleft face and the impact that their donations make. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Volunteer Manager to join the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (Kew).  Volunteers contribute significantly to the delivery of Kew’s mission, supporting all aspects of Kew’s work notably in Horticulture, Science, visitor engagement, schools, community and access programmes and Galleries.  We currently count on over 800 volunteers across our two sites - Kew Gardens in west London and Wakehurst, our wild botanic garden in Sussex. 

The volunteering function sits within the Gardens directorate in the Learning and Participation department but has an organisational-wide remit, working closely with business areas such as Horticulture, Science, HR and H&S. There is a devolved structure for the management of volunteers with a full time Volunteer Manager and Volunteer Coordinator at the centre with responsibility for delivering the Volunteer Strategy and associated KPIs, policy and procedures. This central resource support is vital for the continued expansion and development of the volunteering programmes in a coherent and equitable way and to a uniformly high level.

The Volunteer Manager will engage with all volunteers, including those under 18 years of age and vulnerable adults. An Enhanced DBS check is required.

About You

We are seeking an experienced volunteer manager who will ensure our volunteers, and staff who coordinate them, have the skills and support they need to confidently and consistently perform their roles to support the implementation of Kew’s Manifesto for Change.

You will manage the central function for volunteers across Kew Gardens and Wakehurst, supporting processes linked to recruitment, selection, induction, training, pastoral care and leavers.  You will have excellent knowledge of the UK volunteer sector and understand the legal context of engaging volunteering and how it differs from employment. With excellent IT and administrative skills, you will be experienced in collecting, maintaining, analysing and reporting on volunteer data. 

You will be an ambassador for Kew’s volunteers and a visible presence for all volunteers, advocating for them internally and externally. Your strong interpersonal skills will ensure excellent levels of communication with volunteers and staff, and this will include representing volunteers on Kew’s Leadership Forum and chairing the Volunteer Steering Group.

This role is based at Kew Gardens with occasional regular travel to Wakehurst and occasional travel within the UK. There will also be the option of regular home working, subject to operational requirements.

We’re looking for two self-starting team members who will help coordinate our JUMP befriending project for unaccompanied asylum seekers and refugees.

You’ll be responsible for half of the befriending pairs (currently 28, increasing to 50 in the coming months) and undertake tasks such as working with our partner organisations, managing referrals for young people, recruiting volunteer befrienders, and setting-up and sustaining pairs. This includes leading an initial training day.

You’ll also provide JUMP young people with casework support, help organise our group events and facilitate support from our Hardship Fund.

Main functions

Supporting young people and the JUMP Community

1. Managing a caseload of young people; including offering casework support; arranging and attending appointments with the young person where necessary and signposting to available support.
2. Helping plan and organise quarterly group events.
3. Conducting initial assessments with young people to understand their needs, and once paired with a volunteer, hosting befriending initial meetings.

 Supervising and supporting volunteers

1. Recruiting, interviewing and onboarding new befrienders, including organising and delivering training.
2. Supporting befriending volunteers through regular supervisions, meetings, emails and phone calls, and responding promptly to any safeguarding concerns raised.
3. Ensuring that volunteers uphold JUMP’s policies and boundaries for befriending.

Publicising JUMP, and engaging with key stakeholders

1. Publicising the project to existing and potential referral agencies, and establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with them.
2. Representing HIAS+JCORE and JUMP in the refugee sector as required, for example at the Refugee and Migrant Children’s Consortium (RMCC) meetings.

Project monitoring, evaluation and record keeping

1. Working with experts and the JUMP Project Manager on supporting the project and its evaluation, and keeping accurate records in JUMP’s database.

1. Ensuring that JUMP informs our campaigns, communications and education work. As the project develops, there will be opportunities for the post-holder to contribute to and support these areas of our work.

• Knowledge of issues facing separated asylum seeking and refugee children and young people, and the rights and entitlements of ‘Looked After’ children and young people.
• Understanding of the current context surrounding immigration, asylum and welfare issues facing children and young people in the UK today.
• Understanding of Child Protection and Vulnerable Adult Safeguarding, and ability to communicate this to volunteers.
• Understanding of youth work principles and methods, including the benefits and challenges of befriending and other participatory methods.
• Ability to network in the refugee sector and develop strong working relationships.
• Ability to work independently and to self-motivate.
• Commitment to HIAS+JCORE values, social justice and antiracism.
• The ability to communicate in languages other than English, in particular Arabic, Spanish and French (desirable)

Experience required

Essential

• A track record of working directly with asylum seeking and refugee children and young people.
• Experience of social work, youth work, or other relevant methods of supporting people in challenging circumstances.

• Educated to at least undergraduate degree level, or equivalent background or experience.

The Likewise Community Hub offers a safe space for people to explore a range of wellbeing activities and events, whilst creating opportunity for connection, relationship, belonging and support. 

Our Community Hub and Garden is open to all with a particular focus on people who may feel lonely or socially isolated through mental ill health. It’s a place to access therapies, groups and activities supporting belonging and wellbeing. The hub is both a place to meaningfully contribute, and to feel supported, upholding the principle that we all have needs and we all have something to offer.

Working with relationship building, conflict, rupture, and repair with, and between, community members 

Being a point of contact with community members and activity hosts

Coordinating placement student team to manage communication channels for the community, including social media, digital content and website updates

Increasing access and engagement with the Hub from a diverse community through partnerships, informal and formal referral networks

We are seeking an outgoing proactive Sales & Events Coordinator to join our busy team to deliver increased revenue and occupancy for our conference and meetings business.

As a social enterprise commercial income is key to our success.  The Commercial team is responsible for income generation and business growth through sourcing occupants for our commercial units and clients for our venues.  The Commercial team deliver over 600 events from our venues and are continually building partnerships and liaising with key stakeholders across the South Bank areas.

You will be responsible for securing sales from new and existing clients as well as managing event logistics in close liaison with our operational team.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:

• Experience of co-ordinating and organising events

 We are recruiting a Project Coordinator to oversee the delivery and development of a flagship Community Wellbeing Project, which operates in partnership with Brent Council. The project is a Community Hub hosted in a community space in Stonebridge (not in Sufra’s existing premises). Members of the project can access a Community Shop, a Community Café and Kitchen, and holistic support in the form of Advice casework and workshops. The objective of the project is to deliver food aid alongside wraparound holistic support in way that improves the financial, physical and mental wellbeing of its members, who are struggling with the cost of living.

This collaborative project has been made possible due to the support of multiple partners and has already proven highly successful. It is likely to form the basis of a new model of support for people experiencing vulnerabilities that will be replicated across Brent and possibly elsewhere in London.

The Project Coordinator will oversee the delivery of the project, ensuring both the shop and the café operate effectively and in accordance with agreed standards and procedures. The successful candidate will help shape the project in the months ahead, whilst supporting guests, collecting data, and monitoring and evaluating the project. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a busy and varied environment, managing multiple priorities at the same time. They will have experience in a customer-facing role, dealing with the general public and managing volunteers. It would be beneficial for the post holder to have experience supporting vulnerable people with complex needs from a wide variety of backgrounds. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for members that sign onto the pilot project, and will be representing the organisation to external partners. Role Purpose

Grandmentors is an innovative volunteering project where more mature volunteers use their lifetime of skills and experience to support and mentor under supported young people (predominantly aged 17-25) with experience of the care system. These young people often need a guiding hand and role model to support them to find work, continue their education or begin training – giving them the skills and self-belief to lead successful and independent lives. Volunteers meet with a young person regularly to boost their confidence and work towards goals, which are unique to each young person.

The postholder will be leading on the Grandmentors project within the London Borough of Lewisham, working closely with Lewisham Council and our other Grandmentors projects nationally. The Project Coordinator role is part of a job share, meaning you will be working closely with another Project Coordinator who has already been working on the project for a year. The post holder will attend Council team meetings to integrate Grandmentors into other Council services as well as other local community and council-led events. They will recruit volunteers locally from the community, and within surrounding areas where referred young people live. Young people are referred directly to Volunteering Matters through the Leaving Care team at Lewisham Council. The post holder with work with the young people to match them with a volunteer mentor and support the ongoing relationship. This can include some evening and weekend work, which is within our flexible working culture and policy.

The postholder will be expected to maintain relationships whilst developing new ones, and will be working to achieve match and referral targets. A flexible and adaptable approach is important, working with volunteers and young people to achieve positive outcomes. The postholder will ensure the volunteers are trained and supported to help the young people achieve their goals, and also to support young people who may have varied complex challenges relating to for example, physical and mental health, new parenthood, English as an additional language and barriers faced through cultural heritage.

 Key Duties

· To ensure volunteers are recruited, engaged, and retained by taking them through the appropriate on-boarding process i.e., interview, application, training, DBS checks, regular supervision etc.

· To work with staff teams at Lewisham Council to promote Grandmentors and to maintain referrals of young people who may benefit from the service.

· To support young people to match with a volunteer mentor, and ensure the young person leads this process.

· To effectively deliver the service to ensure the project meets its agreed match targets and milestones.

· To attend events and be able to promote the Grandmentors volunteering opportunity within the community.

· Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and local authority staff.

· To maintain accurate records on all aspects of the project and submit data onto the CRM database.

· To manage and maintain effective monitoring and evaluation records to capture impact and outcomes for reporting purposes.
