About the opportunity
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the Smart Works Greater Manchester Board of Trustees.
The Corporate Relationships Trustee will support in developing the corporate supporter base across the city region, with the aim of increasing the funding received from organisations. This will involve supporting the Fundraising and Partnerships Manager to shape the our corporate partner “offer”, engaging with corporate supporters, and building the narrative of our social value proposition.
Securing corporate funding / financial donations as an income stream will enable the Charity to continue delivering the Smart Works service across Greater Manchester, helping women to secure employment and gain financial independence. The corporate partner offering will include securing formal, multi-year Charity Partner status for Smart Works Greater Manchester across the city region and increasing corporate participation in fundraising challenges, such as the annual Cycle for Smart Works challenge and payroll giving.
The time commitment for this voluntary, unpaid role is an average of 0.5 day per month, with more time given at busy periods of the year. There will be a requirement to sit on the Fund-Raising Sub-Committee, with meetings taking place every three months, and to attend Board meetings taking place every quarter.

General Duties of a Smart Works Trustee
- Work with the Chair of the Board of Trustees to ensure the centre is well-run and governed effectively.

- Build strong working relationships with the Chair, fellow trustees, staff, volunteers and supporters.
- Work in a small team and tailor strong interpersonal and communication skills to all levels of seniority.

It is our vision that the successful applicant will have a strong network of corporate contacts across Manchester city and the wider city region and be able to leverage their skills to create, develop, and secure corporate partnerships and deliver the desired financial outcomes.
The Corporate Relationship Trustee will be expected to support the Fundraising and Partnerships Manager, and, where necessary, to liaise with the Smart Works Charity Corporate Partnerships team in London to ensure joined-up activities where contacts are national organisations.

Introduction to the Partnership Development and Collaboration Lead Role
The Partnership Development and Collaboration Lead is crucial in forging strong connections and building strategic alliances. Key Responsibilities:
Trustee Support:
• Act as the primary liaison between the Board of Trustees and potential partners.

Job description
Indigenous peoples and local communities are grappling with the constant threat of displacement from their lands in Tanzania. The violations of human and land rights, particularly in areas like Loliondo, Ngorongoro, and Simanjiro, have left thousands of people vulnerable and in need of urgent assistance. Following these evictions, many of the Maasai lack vital resources for survival and are unable to connect with the rest of the world. Not1More is working with a partner organisation, TEST, in Tanzania to support their fundraising, advocacy and communication activities.
Your Role
We are looking for a volunteer who can dedicate time to this role through to December 2024. You will be a part of a team that works directly with Tanzania’s indigenous Maasai, and help to make a difference in key areas such as protecting ecosystems and advocating for indigenous rights.
The main objective is to help TEST diversify and increase their funding sources. This will include connecting with other enthusiastic team members online to develop a fundraising strategy and implementation of a fundraising campaign, including identifying grant funding opportunities, assisting in the preparation and submission of grant funding proposals, and pursuing philanthropic and corporate partnership funding opportunities.
Desirable Skills and Experience

Previous experience with fundraising activities, preferably with an NGO.

Previous experience managing a Google Ad Grant account, including ad campaign establishment and monitoring.

Previous experience training staff to use a Google Ad Grant account, and providing Google Ad campaign reports.
Leadership

Overview: Path to Prosper is seeking a detail-oriented, organised and self-motivated individual to join our team as a volunteer Fundraising Lead. This individual will be responsible for managing the organisation's fundraising and grant activities, through managing our Trust and Funds process and seeking new avenues for funding
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies to support the organisation's mission and programs
- Research and identify potential funding sources, including grant opportunities and corporate partnerships
- Prepare and submit grant proposals and reports in accordance with funder requirements
- Develop and maintain relationships with donors and funders
- Ensure compliance with grant reporting and regulatory requirements
- Work collaboratively with our team in Uganda to identify funding needs and opportunities
- Other duties as assigned
Personal specification
Essential requirements:
- Previous experience in nonprofit fundraising or grant writing (paid or voluntary), particularly in an international setting, is preferred but not required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to the mission and values of Path to Prosper
Desirable requirements:
- Strong grant writing and fundraising skills
- Familiarity with fundraising software and systems
Time Commitment: The volunteer will be expected to commit approximately 5-6 hours per month, with some flexibility in scheduling around your personal commitments. This will include a 30-60 minute Ops team meeting a month, and a in person trustee meeting in London every quarter.

The Employment Support Programme at Barawak is an instrumental part of our strategic initiative to enhance the economic well-being of the Afro-Hebrew community through increased employability. Our focused strategy is to improve job readiness and access to employment opportunities by providing practical support such as CV clinics, interview coaching, and subsidies for travel to interviews and courses. This programme is designed to create real change, with the aim to see a measurable increase in employment rates within our community. Through this service line, we strive to fulfill our mission of economic empowerment, making tangible progress towards our vision of a prosperous and self-sustaining community.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and execute the Employment Support strategy and service line:
• CV Assistance and subsidising travel: Organize and oversee quarterly CV clinics and provide discretionary support for travel costs associated with interviews and courses, enhancing job readiness among community members.
• Discretionary interview support: provide access to high quality discretionary interview practice and advice.
• Job opportunity signposting: Develop and maintain partnerships with businesses and organizations to highlight job opportunities for the community. Act as a liaison for discretionary referrals to these job opportunities, ensuring a fit between community members’ skills and available positions.
2. Measure performance: Keep accurate count of the number of individuals assisted with CVs, job applications and interview preparation; the number vacancies shared with the community and any successful placement rates of those assisted. Provide this data to the Governance Team and Trustees on request.
3. Collaboration with Verticals Teams:
• Partnership Development & Collaboration Team: Coordinate with this team to identify and establishalliances and partnerships with local, regional and global organisations, businesses, councils, and thegovernment to acquire Employment Supportresources, speakers or information.
• Fundraising & Financial Management Team: Collaborate with this team to conduct fundraising activities and financial planning for the Employment Support service line. Identify diverse revenue streams, such as grants, donations, corporate sponsorships, fundraising events for the Employment Supportservice.
• Volunteer Engagement Team: Work with this team to recruit, train and manage volunteers to support the Employment Support service delivery.
• Marketing Outreach & Advocacy: work with this team to enhance visibility of the Employment Supportservice across social media, press, and community events.
4. Governance Team Interaction: Provide regular updates and reports to the Governance, Secretariat & Performance Reporting team. Ensure programmealignment with Barawak policies, procedures, strategyand objectives. Collaborate on monitoring and evaluation efforts to assess Employment Support service impact and effectiveness.

Main Duties:
Fundraising Strategy: Provide expertise, advice and guidance in the development and implementation of our fundraising strategy.

Strategic experience: Proven track record in fundraising at a senior level, with a deep understanding of various fundraising methods, including grants, major gifts, events, and online campaigns.
Passion for the Cause: A strong commitment to improving the lives of people with care and support needs and a deep empathy for the challenges they face.
Strong Networks in Birmingham: A skilled networker with strong networks in Birmingham and wider West Midlands area.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to strategically assist with grant writing, donor communications, and public speaking engagements.
Financial Acumen: Familiarity with budgeting and financial management related to fundraising activities.
Legal and Ethical Awareness: Knowledge of fundraising regulations and ethical considerations in the non-profit sector.

Time Commitment: Availability to prepare for and attend board meetings (4 per year), committee meetings (4 per year), and fundraising events and other meetings as required.
