Job description

The Hummingbird Project is looking for experienced ESOL or English Functional Skills teachers/teaching assistants to join Learning Space.

Deadline: Midnight Sunday 10th March 2024

Interviews: Tuesday 19th March 2024

Start Date: Thursday 18th April 2024 (TBC).

You will need to undergo a DBS check, safeguarding training and an induction before starting. 

When: Every Thursday, during term time, 5:30 - 7:30pm. Volunteers must be able to commit to the role for a minimum of 6 months.

Essential Criteria:

  • Teaching/teaching assistant experience on ESOL and/or English Functional Skills courses
  • Familiarity with ESOL and/or English Functional Skills exams
  • Experience of working with people from refugee backgrounds and/or teaching people who's first language is not English
  • Excellent and adaptable communication skills
  • Be available to volunteer on a Thursday 5:30-7:30pm for a minimum of 6 months (if you are not available during this time we ask that you do not apply for this role)
