Location: Hybrid, with in‑person events mainly in East London
Time Commitment: Flexible, approx. 1-3 events per month
Salary: Voluntary

About SUNSHINE Charity
Loneliness is one of the most profound challenges facing our communities — but together, we can change that.
SUNSHINE Charity is a new, volunteer‑powered organisation dedicated to reducing loneliness and social isolation by creating warm, joyful, inclusive spaces where people can meet, connect, and feel part of something bigger.
We believe that connection is a human need. We believe that joy is a form of care. We believe that community can change lives.
As we prepare to launch our first activities across London, we are building a friendly and enthusiastic Events Team to help bring SUNSHINE into the heart of local communities.
The VOLUNTEER Opportunity
As an Events Team Member, you will be one of the friendly faces of SUNSHINE — helping us run small community events, attend local fairs and festivals, staff our stalls, and engage warmly with the public.
You won’t just be handing out flyers or setting up tables. You’ll be helping create moments of connection — the spark that encourages someone to join an activity, meet new people, or take their first step out of loneliness.
Your presence will help build a London where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and part of a community that cares.
What You’ll Be Doing
Supporting the organisation of small‑scale community events
Attending local fairs, markets, and community days as a SUNSHINE representative
Setting up and packing down stalls, tables, banners, and materials
Greeting visitors with warmth and enthusiasm
Talking to members of the public about SUNSHINE’s mission and activities
Encouraging sign‑ups, sharing information, and answering questions
Helping create a friendly, inclusive atmosphere at every event
Supporting basic event logistics (materials, refreshments, sign‑in sheets, etc.)
Working closely with other volunteers and the SUNSHINE team
Bringing positivity, energy, and kindness to every interaction
Who We’re Looking For
You don’t need events experience — just friendliness, enthusiasm, and a love of connecting with people.
We’re looking for someone who:
Is passionate about community, connection, and helping people feel less alone
Enjoys chatting with people and making them feel welcome
Is confident engaging with the public at events
Is reliable, proactive, and happy to muck in
Can represent SUNSHINE with warmth, kindness, and positivity
Is comfortable using email and basic digital tools
Can work well as part of a small, supportive team
Shares SUNSHINE’s values of inclusion, joy, and compassion
Experience in events, customer service, community engagement, or public‑facing roles is helpful — but absolutely not essential.
Why Volunteer With SUNSHINE?
This role offers the chance to:
Be part of launching a brand‑new community charity
Represent SUNSHINE at events across London
Help create joyful, welcoming spaces for people who feel lonely
Build confidence, communication, and community engagement skills
Gain hands‑on experience in events and outreach
Meet like‑minded volunteers and be part of a supportive team
Make a real, human difference — one conversation at a time
The Difference You’ll Make
Behind every person who discovers SUNSHINE is someone who welcomed them at a stall. Behind every new participant is someone who encouraged them to join. Behind every moment of connection is someone who created the opportunity.
As an Events Team Member, that someone will be you.
Your contribution will help ensure that people who feel lonely can find warmth, belonging, and hope — not just once, but again and again.
You will help bring people together, spark joy, and build community.

If you believe in the power of connection, kindness, and community, we would love to hear from you.

Volunteer Barber or Hairdresser Needed – Make a Difference in Westminster
We are looking for a volunteer barber or hairdresser to support residents at a hostel in Westminster, London. The hostel is part of the Single Homeless Project charity and is home to up to 68 residents.
Something as simple as a haircut can have a hugely positive impact on a person’s confidence, self-esteem, mental health, and overall wellbeing.
As part of our upcoming Wellbeing Day, we will be hosting a range of activities for residents, and one of the key things we would love to offer is free haircuts from a volunteer barber or hairdresser.
If you have the time and capacity, there is also scope for regular visits to the hostel beyond the wellbeing day, although this is entirely optional.
You will be fully supported by our staff team throughout the session, and a member of staff will always be available to assist and provide support where needed.
We are also happy to cover any travel cost within London, and if you would like like to find out more about the chairty and the work we do, please type in Single Homeless Project into your search engine.
If you would like to use your skills to make a real difference in someone’s day, we would love to hear from you.
Please send us a message if you are interested.
