Art UK seeks to appoint three new Trustees to support this dynamic and entrepreneurial charity, which democratises access to the UK national collection of art and shares it with a global audience.

The charity is looking for Trustees with experience and expertise in three particular areas: fundraising, higher education and digital innovation.

All Trustees should be able to demonstrate the following essential criteria:

• Will have an understanding of, and commitment to, the vision and values of Art UK and its future development
• Will have experience of using sound judgement in strategic decision-making, with good communication and interpersonal skills
• Will have a passion for the visual arts and be able to articulate compellingly how digital technologies democratise access to culture
• Will help develop and maintain robust relationships with external stakeholders and serve as an ambassador for the charity, expanding its network, profile, and impact

We are seeking an outstanding Chair of Trustees to lead our Board and support the Chief Executive in ensuring the hospice’s strategic direction, governance, and long-term sustainability.
 

Purpose of the Role

The Chair provides leadership to the Board, ensuring effective governance, strategic oversight, and strong support and challenge to the executive team. The Chair also works with the executive team to develop external relationships.
 

Leadership & Governance

• Provide clear leadership to the Board, ensuring it operates effectively and in line with charity governance standards and the Charity Commission’s expectations.
• Ensure the Board fulfils its duties to safeguard the organisation’s mission, assets, reputation, and beneficiaries.
• Lead on Board development, ensuring a high-performing, diverse, and properly skilled Board of Trustees.
• Work closely with the Vice Chair and Committee Chairs to ensure committee structures function efficiently.
 

Strategic Oversight

• Work with the Board and Chief Executive to set the organisation’s long-term vision, strategic objectives, and measurable success indicators.
• Ensure appropriate strategic oversight of clinical services, safeguarding, quality frameworks, finance, and fundraising.
• Support robust risk management processes and long-term financial planning.

Relationship with the Chief Executive

• Develop a strong, constructive, and supportive relationship with the Chief Executive.
• Provide regular guidance, support, and challenge as needed.
• Undertake the Chief Executive’s annual appraisal and support their personal development.

External Representation

• Represent the hospice at key events, meetings, and media opportunities where appropriate.
• To represent the charity at meeting with key supporters or potential supporters, supporting our fundraising activities.

Board Meetings & Governance Processes

• Chair Board meetings effectively, ensuring inclusive debate, timely decisions, and high-quality governance practice.
• Ensure trustees receive accurate, timely, and relevant information to support informed decision making.
• Oversee governance policies, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.

From multilingual advocacy and community wellbeing to youth work, therapeutic services, and food security, we work across the intersections of disadvantage, with particular expertise in supporting refugee and minoritised communities, survivors of FGM and sexual violence, young people at risk of exploitation, and people facing mental health challenges. We are a small organisation with an outsized impact, and we take seriously our responsibility to influence policy as well as deliver services.

What we're looking for

We're seeking trustees with expertise in one or more of the below areas:

Fundraising and income development — You will have significant experience leading or overseeing fundraising strategy, with a strong track record across trusts and foundations, statutory commissioning, or other income streams relevant to a charity of our size and complexity. You understand what sustainable income looks like for a community health organisation navigating a difficult funding environment.

Services and community leadership — You will have deep experience leading or developing services for under-represented, minoritised, or marginalised communities, ideally in the voluntary and community sector. You understand what excellent, culturally competent, trauma-informed practice looks like — and how to govern it well.

Human resources — You will have significant HR expertise and an understanding of what good people management looks like in a complex, mission-driven organisation. Whether your background is in-house, consultancy, or the voluntary sector, you'll be able to bring a thoughtful, practical perspective to workforce questions at board level and contribute to our HR and Communications sub-group, as well as the wider board.

In either case, you'll bring strong communication skills, genuine commitment to equity and inclusion, and the strategic clarity to contribute meaningfully at board level.

What you'll join

Our board of six trustees brings expertise spanning third sector leadership, asset management, law, HR, finance, and communications. We meet five times a year, with three sub-groups (Fundraising and Services; HR and Communications; Finance and Facilities) that meet as needed. The time commitment averages around six hours per month. Trustees are appointed for three-year terms, with the potential for renewal.

We are the Lincs Mid, NE and Lincoln Branch of the RSPCA. Our Branch rehabilitates and re-homes animals rescued by National RSPCA Inspectors, as well as taking in animals from members of the public who can no longer care for them. We have three charity shops as well as other fundraising activity and local partnership to raise funds for our animal care activities.

We are a passionate and ambitious team seeking a new Chair of our Board. We are currently 9 Trustees with a wide range of experience. As Chair, you will lead our monthly committee meetings as well as AGM. We are hands on as a board, with a great team of staff and volunteers who deliver our core activity.

If the Chair role isn't for you, we also have opportunities on our Board to take the lead on our Charity Retail Operations or Health & Safety. We already have Trustees with specific expertise in e.g. HR and finance, and would love you to join us if you have experience in either charity retail management or health & safety.

About Lambeth Links: Lambeth Links is the LGBTQIA+ community forum for Lambeth. We bring together people who live, work and socialise in the borough to share information, support each other and speak with a stronger voice.

We are seeking to appoint Trustees with expertise in one of the following areas:

• Governance
• Digital, Data and Website
• Marketing and Communications
• Fundraising and Income Generation
• People and Volunteering

About the Trustee for Governance and Board Secretary role:

• Experience in charity governance, company governance or a related field such as legal, company secretarial or compliance.
• Understanding of the duties of charity trustees in England and of the role of the Charity Commission.
• Experience of Board or committee work, paid or voluntary.

About the Trustee for Digital, Data and Website role:

• Experience in digital, IT, data or web development in a paid or voluntary role.
• Understanding of basic data protection and GDPR principles and how they apply in small organisations.
• Experience of using or overseeing websites, digital platforms or online tools.

About the Trustee for Marketing and Communications role:

• Experience in marketing, communications, PR or a related field in a paid or voluntary role.
• Experience of planning or delivering campaigns, content or community outreach.
• Understanding of how to use different channels to reach different audiences.

About the Fundraising and Income Generation Trustee role:

• Experience in fundraising, business development, partnerships or income generation.
• Understanding of at least one area of fundraising such as grants, corporate partnerships, events or individual giving.
• Experience of developing or reviewing funding proposals or business cases.

About the People and Volunteering Trustee role:

• Experience in HR, people management, organisational development or volunteer management.
• Understanding of fair and inclusive people practices in small or medium organisations.
• Experience of supporting managers or volunteers through change, growth or challenge.
