Without our volunteer drivers, the Community Food Hub simply does not run.

Food donations, supplies, and resources need to move — and you are the person who makes that happen. As our Volunteer Driver, you'll be a critical part of the operation, collecting from our partners and suppliers and delivering to the Hub so that families across Hackney can be fed.

This is a practical, independent role that puts you at the heart of our supply chain — and the impact you make is felt every single session.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Collect food donations, supplies, and resources from partner organisations and suppliers

• Deliver collections to the Community Food Hub at Fawcett Estate, Clapton

• Communicate clearly with Thomas and the Hub team about collection schedules and any changes

• Handle all food safely and responsibly during transit, following food hygiene guidelines

• Keep a simple record of collections — what was picked up, from where, and when

• Report any concerns or issues during collections immediately to Thomas

• Maintain the vehicle used for collections in a clean and roadworthy condition

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

ESSENTIAL

• Full, clean UK driving licence

• Confident, safe, and experienced driver

• Reliable and punctual — our food supply depends on you

• Able to lift and carry food boxes and bags safely

• Good communication — able to liaise clearly with the Hub team and partner organisations

• Basic awareness of food hygiene for transit

HELPFUL BUT NOT ESSENTIAL

• Experience driving a van or larger vehicle

• Previous experience as a delivery driver, volunteer driver, or similar

• Knowledge of Hackney and surrounding areas

• Understanding of food bank or community food logistics

The Chair of Trustees will hold the Board and Senior Management Team to account for The Lullaby Trust’s mission and vision, providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that each trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity. 

Causeway Education  are partnering with the Sweaty Betty Foundation to deliver workshops to girls in secondary schools about the importance of physical activity.

Our collaboration involves bringing role models from the community (across a variety of sectors and professions) into schools with us to deliver classroom-based workshops that act both as a careers education and also a motivation for staying physically active. For example, our role models might talk about how physical activity (however big or small, in whatever shape that looks like for them) has helped with their mental wellbeing or skill development in resilience, confidence, problem-solving that has allowed them to get where they are today in their careers. It is taking a holistic approach to viewing physical activity beyond appearance, to show teenage girls how being physically active can benefit them moving forward.

We are looking for women who are interested in speaking with girls about how physical activity has helped them with mental wellbeing, education and career goals and developing skills. The workshops last between 1.5 to 2 hours and are co-facilitated with a member of our team. Your role as a volunteer role model is to join the facilitator in assisting with activities that help re-frame the girls thinking around physical activity and encourage them to set a pledge in an area they are interested in exploring.

No previous experience required and a 1:1 introductory training call provided. No time commitment - you can do as many or as little workshops as you like, and we liaise with the school against your availability, location etc. Travel expenses are reimbursed. If you are passionate about getting teenage girls active, and feel you can share your own journey and experiences with physical activity, this would be great for you.

There are opportunities for volunteers across Greater London and Greater Manchester. 

Main Responsibilities 

Providing coding support to the team in C++ or other programming languages (Java, Python). 

Work with the UX/UI in implementing app and game design

Communication within a team setting, intercommunication skills are key 

Updating app/game code as and when needed 

Respond to feedback effectively

Support and provide advice on Easing Anxieties’ purpose, vision, goals, and activities. 

Approve operational strategies and policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation.

Oversee Easing Anxieties’ financial plans and budgets, and monitor and evaluate progress. 

Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.

Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored, and controlled effectively.

Keep abreast of changes in Easing Anxieties’s operating environment.

Terms of appointment

Terms of office

Trustees are appointed for a [2] year term of office, with renewal for [2] further terms to a maximum of [10] years.

This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

Time commitment

Attending [4] Board meetings annually. Currently, meetings are held remotely.

You will be a member of a sub-committee that will meet [6] times per year.

TVS is a small charity working with rural schools in South Africa to empower vulnerable children through education. We are seeking a volunteer Secretary to our Board of Trustees. If you are organised, detail-oriented, and keen to play a pivotal role in the smooth running of a charity this is a fantastic opportunity to ensure our board meetings are well-organised, documented, and productive, helping us deliver our mission to our beneficiaries.

As Secretary, you’ll be responsible for preparing agendas and minutes, coordinating board communications, maintaining records, and supporting the trustees in compliance and governance matters. You will work remotely, with regular online or in-person meetings alongside our dedicated team of trustees and volunteers.

Summary of role

We are looking for teachers with a recognised ESOL qualification to support clients on a 1:1 basis with speaking, reading and writing English for an hour or so each week.

How does this role make a difference?

This support provided by volunteers to our clients really helps them progress with their English. Often clients do not have opportunities to learn English outside of the classroom or interact with a British-born person, so this opportunity is invaluable to them. Improving our clients English also enables individuals to access our other services such as, the employment team and digital inclusion, which will in turn, improve their employment prospects and assist in integration in their local community.

Who will you be helping?

Our clients are refugees, migrants and asylum seekers who are unable to afford or access English classes at colleges. We have many clients at the Centre who need one-to-one support with their English, mostly around listening and speaking, fluency and confidence building. We can also offer additional sessions to clients who are accessing external ESOL classes who feel they need additional 1:1 support.

What will you be doing?

We would like you to meet a client for 1 – 2 hours each week, this can be at the Centre or in a public place such as a café or library or where possible on-line. You will provide them with individual support with their English.  

Your responsibilities:

• Be able to commit at least one hour a week to your client for up to six months.
• Create an agreed Individual Learning Plan.
• Meet with your client at an agreed time and place.
• Be able to encourage and motivate your client.
• Be able to plan an hour’s English session based on the client’s ability and need.
• Send a short progress report to the Learning & Employment Manager after every meeting with your client.
• Participate in the Centre induction and safeguarding training.
• Attend quarterly group meetings, at the Centre, with other English Learning Volunteers at an agreed time.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Volunteer Gardener to help maintain our Community Garden, ensuring it remains a safe, welcoming, and beautiful space for everyone to enjoy. We are looking to help Carers with IT support needs and require a Volunteer to offer 1:1 sessions to help them with their basic difficulties on their phone, tablet or laptop. In the first instance, we require someone for a morning or afternoon once a month to visit our different Cafes around the London Borough of Hillingdon and offer a Drop-In service. This will be reviewed after 4 months.

This role will suit someone who:

• Has excellent verbal communication skills

• Has a good understanding of using a laptop, tablet, Microsoft Office, the internet 

• Enjoys explaining technical and  IT-related task to people face to face

• Ideally has experience of supporting people in a learning environment

• Pays attention to detail

• Is empathetic to the needs and motivations of Carers

• Understand the importance of confidentiality

Main duties will include:

• Meeting a Carer and listening to their IT problem

• Understanding how overcoming this problem can assist them in everyday life

• Instructing them, in simple terms, on how to access the information they need or the task they wish to complete 

Training and Support

• All volunteers are expected to undertake induction training at Carers Trust Hillingdon, both online and in person

• You will report to the Carer Development Officer and will receive regular supervision and support.

• Should you wish and if places permit, you will be invited to attend Wellbeing Workshops and Seminars

• You will be required to use your own car or take public transport to each venue so expenses will be recompensed

Our small friendly Charity Shop in South Westminster

As well as being an important source of revenue for the Centre, the shop on Horseferry Road is the public face of the Cardinal Hume Centre to the residents and workers of Westminster. It can be a very busy environment with lots of regular customers. You will be part of a friendly, international team!  You will receive excellent support and opportunities to learn team skills and customer service.  You can obtain a reference for future employers.

How does this role make a difference?

You will be part of the fundraising team, raising funds to support the work of the Cardinal Hume Centre and promoting the work of the Centre to the public. Typically, the Charity Shop raises in the region of £50,000 per year.

What will you be doing?

Flexibility will be given where possible, but in general, volunteers will undertake the following tasks as part of this role:

· Customer service on the till

· Cashing up at the end of the day and walking the takings round to the reception and handing in to Finance Team

· Greeting and helping customers

· Replenishing the stock on the shop floor

· Sorting donations

· Helping present top items in window display and around the shop

· Promoting the work of the Centre to the public

No special qualifications are needed to work in our shop, as relevant training will be given, however, we will be asking for the following qualities:

· Over 16+

· Good spoken English needed – at least Entry Level 3

· The ability to contribute to a positive team culture and atmosphere

· Be able to provide a friendly, high-quality service to customers

· A commitment to equal opportunities and to treating all individuals who visit or work in the shop with dignity and respect

· Physically fit - able to lift light bags and boxes and to comfortably use the stairs between the shop floor and the stock room.  Manual handling training will be given.

What is the time commitment?

The shop opening hours are 10am – 4.30pm, Monday – Friday.  A full or half day (10 – 1pm or 1 – 4.30pm) is ideal, but we are flexible and are grateful for even a couple of hours help each week. Ideally, volunteers will commit to a period of at least 4 months.

How will you be supported?

· You will be supported and trained in all areas of retail and customer service by the Charity Shop Manager and the Assistant Shop Manager.

· You will receive a Centre induction from a Volunteer Coordinator

· You will be reimbursed for reasonable and agreed ‘out-of-pocket’ expenses such as travel and also lunch if working a full day.

· For volunteers who stay for more than three months, we are happy to provide a reference.
