We are looking for four new trustees to join our dynamic team to lead EOS as it moves into the second year of our current organisational strategy. Personal experience of eczema is not essential, however, a commitment to making the lives of families facing this unpredictable condition better is vital.
What will you be doing?
As a trustee you would be part of the EOS Board who are responsible for the strategic oversight of the organisation, managing risk and overseeing the organisation’s finances. This is a strategic role with charity operations being carried out by the staff and volunteer team.
All trustees:

• Attend the annual away day (in-person, full day during the week).
Accommodation and travel expenses can be reimbursed. We also ask that all trustees are willing to join one sub-committee relevant to their areas of expertise and interests. Sub-committees usually meet once per quarter, online, at a time to suit members.
Where will you be based?
Trustee meetings, senior staff meetings and the AGM all take place online via Zoom. Our Away Day is usually an in-person event. Sub-committee meetings take place online via Zoom or Teams at a time that works for members.
Skills and Experience
The following would be for the role:
• Ability to think creatively and strategically, exercise independent judgement and work effectively as part of our team
• A strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion

• Willingness and ability to understand and accept your responsibilities and liabilities as trustees and to act in the best interests of EOS
We want to strengthen the diversity of our team. We strongly encourage applications from people from the widest possible diversity of backgrounds, cultures and experiences.
What support will you get?
The Chair of the Board will support you in your role. You will also work closely with our CEO. You may be offered to attend relevant training courses and may attend a Board Meeting on a trial basis before committing to the role so you can learn more about EOS and how we operate.
Out of Pocket Expenses
As this is a voluntary role, you won’t be paid for your time, but we will reimburse all reasonable expenses in line with our Expenses Policy.
Safeguarding
EOS is committed to keeping everyone we work with safe. We have robust safeguarding policies and procedures in place and will provide you with training relevant to your role. If you ever have a concern about anyone you come into contact with during your volunteering, please speak to our CEO or the Chair of the Board immediately. Trustees are expected to complete some online safeguarding training.

Heartwood House is a unique organisation, working to support and empower young people to engage with education and achieve their potential, free from mainstream system constraints. We are a small, values-driven community, and our trustees play a vital role in guiding our mission and ensuring the long-term sustainability of what we do.
At Heartwood House, we deliver full-time education for students experiencing emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA). Our, methodology places wellbeing at the core of students' education, focusing on mental health, personal growth, and positive social interactions alongside academic instruction.

Education takes place in small groups, with lessons tailored to each student's individual needs and interests. As a trustee, you will gain insight into a genuinely distinctive educational model, and your governance will directly support the staff who build meaningful relationships with every young person in our care.
All staff are invested in and actively participate in student wellbeing, integrating mental health support and personal growth throughout the day, not just in designated sessions. Trustees share responsibility for ensuring this holistic approach is protected and resourced appropriately.
We offer academic instruction from Entry Level to GCSE in subjects aligned with students' interests and future plans. About Peace Direct
Peace Direct is an international organisation dedicated to supporting local people to stop violence and build sustainable peace. We believe that people living in conflict-affected communities are the most effective agents of peace, and our work is grounded in a commitment to shifting power to local peacebuilders, anti-racism, and decolonising the wider sector.
The People and Culture Committee is a newly established sub-committee of the Board. It supports the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and Board in meeting the organisation's strategic goals as they relate to our people, the development and retention of staff and volunteers, organisational culture, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Decolonising, HR policy, safeguarding and whistleblowing, remuneration, and the management of non-financial (people-related) risk. Three Board members sit on the committee, joined by the CEO and Head of Finance and Operations.
Purpose of the role
We are seeking to appoint a co-opted member to the Committee. Under our Terms of Reference, the Committee includes at least one member who need not sit on the Board but is selected for their relevant functional expertise (subject to Board approval). This is that role.
As a co-opted member you will bring specialist knowledge and an independent perspective to the Committee's discussions, offering constructive challenge and advice to the executive and the Board on people and culture matters, helping ensure Peace Direct's practices are fair, inclusive, safe, and consistent with our mission.
The Committee does not play any role in the organisation's internal disciplinary procedures.
Time commitment and term
- The Committee meets at least twice a year, plus reasonable preparation time. Meetings may be held online or in person, and some business may be conducted by email.
- Committee terms are three years. Members may serve a maximum of two consecutive three-year terms, after which a break of at least two years is required before standing again.
- Papers are typically circulated at least five working days before each meeting.
- The role is voluntary.

How to Apply
Please send your CV and a cover letter detailing relevant experience and why you are interested in the role via Charity Jobs. Please indicate in your cover letter, should you choose to, whether you are applying through the Disability Confident Scheme.
Note: We prefer non-AI applications
We also offer candidates the choice of submitting a video clip, i.e. a video cover letter if this is preferable to a written cover letter. To ensure fairness we suggest you turn the camera off so that we only hear your voice. The video should be no more than 2 minutes in length. You should email it as a video link via WeTransfer or any other file sharing tool, to our recruitment inbox, the address of which you will find on the jobs page of our website as unfortunately the Charity Jobs website does not permit a url to be inserted here.
For the video cover letter, the following should guide your speaking points. Switch the camera off and state the following:
- Your name;
- The job you are applying for;
- Describe your overall skills and abilities (as they relate to the post being advertised);
- A brief description of your work experience (in relation to the post being advertised);
- What makes you qualified for the new position;
- Any additional details that help introduce yourself
You should choose either a written cover letter or a video cover letter, but we request that you please do NOT submit both.
Closing deadline for CV and cover letter is 11:30pm on 30th July 2026.
