On Monday evenings during term time, Leatherhead Youth Project (LYP) runs a project called Aspire to help support young people in school years 11 - 13. This includes maths & English tutorship to help young people gain GCSE or functional skills qualifications, money budgeting sessions and support with exploring further education, volunteering or job opportunities.

This volunteer role will support the running of this project and involves helping to run the session and provide tutorship for the young people to help them with their maths & English. 

All the sessions are planned in advance by the 16+ Provision Lead and shared with the volunteers. Each session is tailored to the individual needs of the young people attending.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• To be available from 6:15 - 7:45pm on Monday evenings during term time. 

• To be friendly, welcoming and encouraging to the young people attending.

• Engage young people in learning and help build their confidence. 

• Support neurodiverse young people and adapt the learning to suit their individual needs. 

• Have a good knowledge of foundation GCSE and functional skills maths and English to be able to provide tutorship to the young people. 

• Ability to adapt your teaching to different learning styles.

• The session will finish at 7:30pm, to help with tidying up afterwards. 

• To undertake appropriate training with LYP before and during your time as a volunteer, including safeguarding training.

• To be aware of any concerns for young people present and to immediately report these to the project leader. 

Training
All LYP volunteers are subject to a DBS check, references, and basic training on youth work and safeguarding. 

We are looking for a friendly, reliable and organised Administration & Reception Support Volunteer to support our team at our High Wycombe hostel.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people and would like to gain experience in administration, reception, customer service or the charity/housing sector.

You’ll help with the day-to-day running of reception, providing a warm and welcoming first point of contact for residents, visitors and professionals, while helping the staff team with general administrative tasks.

As a volunteer, you may support with:

• Welcoming and meeting residents, visitors and professionals attending the hostel
• Answering incoming telephone calls and directing enquiries to the appropriate member of staff
• Taking messages and passing on information accurately
• Receiving and logging packages and deliveries 
• Supporting with general reception duties
• Helping to keep reception and administrative areas organised
• Supporting staff with basic administrative tasks
• Inputting or recording information on internal systems, where authorised by IT and once all relevant training and permissions have been completed
• Helping to maintain accurate records
• Signposting residents and visitors to the appropriate member of the team
• Supporting with other appropriate administrative tasks identified by the Hostel Manager
• Uphold One YMCA’s safeguarding, confidentiality, and health & safety policies at all times.

We are looking for volunteers, predominantly childcare, for our Amies projects supporting female survivors of trafficking.

The Amies Projects are drama and singing workshops, providing an uplifting and empowering space for participants to make friends, learn new skills and get creative together.

We hold three sessions each week and provide childcare for all the participants who need it. The sessions for the participants are in an adjacent room to the childcare space, meaning parents are nearby.

We are seeking volunteers to offer their time twice a month (although more is always welcome!), one session will be offering childcare support, the other session will be assisting with the workshops.

Description of role

Childcare once a month: To provide childcare for young people aged 0-12. During the session there is no set curriculum to follow. We encourage children to be creative, offering arts supplies eg. play doh and crayons, as well as toys for creative play. Children will have food during the session, which will be provided either by the charity or by the parents depending on the age and preferences. Children will need to be supported to use the toilet, nappies changed etc. We ask that volunteers alert staff of any safeguarding issues arising.

Supporting the workshops once a month: Assisting our artist facilitators and participant volunteers with the running of the sessions, including setting out food, tidying after the meal, setting up the space and participating in the workshops (singing and drama activities).

Kaleidoscope is a grassroots NGO, working with displaced accompanied and unaccompanied teenagers aged 12-18 in Calais and Dunkirk, northern France. We work across informal living sites, day centres and safehouses to provide safe, youth-focussed spaces and activities to promote trauma mitigation, emotional regulation and identity building. We plan and facilitate a range of activities and workshops in response to the needs and wishes of the teenagers we work with, including arts, sports, music, woodwork, cooking and games, to empower and support them to grow in their identity, self expression and learning of practical and technical skills. Most importantly our sessions build trust and a space of safety that helps mitigate the vast trauma that teenagers have experienced in and before arriving in northern France.

We are looking for volunteers to join our team based across Calais and Dunkirk. Volunteers play a crucial role in the planning and delivery of our youth activities and sessions for displaced teenagers aged 12 to 18.
