Volunteer Interpreter (Kurdish Sorani, Arabic, Pashto, Amharic, Albanian, Spanish)
Action for Refugees in Lewisham (AFRIL) is a small, independant charity who support refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants in Lewisham, Greenwich, Bromley and Southwark. AFRIL's Advice service is AQS accredited and offers complex advice and ongoing casework to any member of the refugee or migrant community in need. We empower service users to build purposeful lives in the UK.
AFRIL are seeking volunteer interpreters to support with bi-weekly outreach sessions at the local Asylum Support Accommodation. The Outreach Surgery supports asylum seeking, or refused asylum seeking, members to understand and access their rights and entitlements. Residents seek protection from a large number of countries and many have limited English. The need amongst these members of our community is high, and available support limited. For this reason, AFRIL are seeking interpreters who can proficently interpret between English and one (or more) of the following languages Kurdish Sorani, Arabic, Pashto, Amharic, Albanian and Spanish.
Please see the attached Role Description for more details on Duties and Requirements.
AFRIL welcomes applications from all communities, if you would like to apply for this role please complete the attached Volunteer Application and return this to the Advice and Advocacy Manager with the subject 'Volunteer Interpreter Application'.
