Job description

Compliments of The House are a small, grassroots, charity initiative looking for someone who wants to help us reduce food waste, in turn, contributing positively to environmental impact whilst simultaneously feeding people in need. Alongside this, we run a ‘Back to Work’ scheme which aids our guests in securing employment. We do all of this for FREE, and are looking for someone as passionate as us, who would take advantage of an opportunity to increase their skill-set, and gain varied experience in the third sector.

What will I be doing? 

  • Day to day general administration work

  • Supporting the charity’s Founder/Director in tasks for the running of the charity

  • Organising correspondence 

  • Liaising and working with other team members, such as the Marketing and Social Media Coordinator, and the Fundraising Coordinator 

  • Researching potential companies, gifts and any other relevant ventures

What impact will I have? 

  • Your contribution to Compliments of The House will aid in the smooth running of this venture, enabling us to serve the community and to increase our outreach with expansion. 

  • Therefore, directly resulting in reducing food waste, helping the environment, feeding people in need, and aiding in guests securing employment. 

What will I gain personally? 

  • A role which provides a wide variety of valuable experience for today’s job market, particularly in the competitive charity sector

  • An opportunity to take part in a grassroots charity initiative that makes a real difference to the community

What skills do I need?

  • Good level of written and spoken English

  • Basic numeracy skills

  • Basic computer skills

  • Self motivated, organised, and a positive attitude

  • Experience desirable, but an ability to learn on the job is vital 

When can I start? 

  • Immediately 

  • Hours: 9-5, 16-24 hours a week, 2-3 days work - this can be discussed dependent on current need and some flexibility with your schedule 

  • Located in central Brixton office - could be some possibility for part of the workload to be remote working
