Advice and Casework Volunteer
Action for Refugees in Lewisham works to relieve poverty and isolation amongst refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants in Lewisham, Greenwich, Bromley and Southwark. The Advice and Advocacy service is AQS accredited and offers complex advice and ongoing casework to any member of the refugee or migrant community in need.
The Advice and Advocacy Service works to empower the people that we work with to understand their rights and entitlements, advocate for themselves, and build purposeful lives in the face of the hostile environment. We offer comprehensive support in complex immigration cases, address homelessness and destitution, and help members navigate statutory services.
Our service works with a large number of members, from a wide range of backgrounds, as well as alongside a number of other charities. We are seeking professional, compassionate individuals to support our Advice and Advocacy Staff both within our casework service and through our outreach surgeries in Asylum Support Accommodation.
Advice and Casework Volunteers will work closely with AFRIL staff to provided guided advice and casework support to AFRIL clients both in our core casework service and through Outreach Surgerys at local Asylum Support Accommodation. Our volunteers are crucial to ensure that all members of our community receive the help they need, when they need it. Successful candidates will receive comprehesive training through AFRIL and other sector leading charities.
