Position Overview
Based in the coastal town of Fort Dauphin in the southeast of Madagascar, this post will focus on the provision of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) support and advice to multiple projects across our rural livelihoods, schools, (WASH), and conservation programmes. The successful candidate will work within a combined National and International staff team to support MEL processes across the organisation. Predominantly office-based in Fort-Dauphin, the MEL Officer will travel occasionally to visit project sites. This exciting post would suit an early-career (1-2 years) professional wanting more experience in MEL work in an International NGO.
Location: Fort Dauphin, Anosy Region, Madagascar
Contract duration: 12 months, with the possibility of extension
Probationary period: 3 months
Contract: Voluntary, with contribution to living expenses and £650 contribution to insurance
Reporting to: Senior MEL Officer
Primary Responsibilities
Supporting MEL procedures and strategies to ensure progress toward project outcomes on select projects; refinement and development of MEL systems and tools for projects; completion of reports, papers and other documents analysing data and summarising findings and support on project reporting that aligns with international standards and best practice.
Duties and Responsibilities
1.Support the operationalisation of MEL plans, procedures and strategies for select projects and organisational initiatives that incorporates stakeholder feedback, adapts to local needs, and supports high-quality implementation in line with ongoing and emerging initiatives
2. Develop, adapt and support the usage of MEL tools, such as knowledge, attitude, and practice surveys and focus group discussion guides, to maximise effective data collection
3.Support the adaptation of technical information/evidence/MEL findings into audience appropriate formats, for internal and external dissemination which informs future programming and project development
4. Coordinate data collection, cleansing, management and analysis of data from a range of sources to determine progress towards results for a range of projects, with support from the Senior MEL Officer
5. Provide tailored advice to the Programmes/Implementation team to support MEL procedures, from the development of MEL tools, to analysis and dissemination of findings to support use
6. Support the implementation of MEL tools, particularly using the Kobo toolkit
7. Support the Heads of Programmes to formulate future research strategy, ensuring project MEL captures data adhering to international development indicators
8. Support capacity-building for SEED staff and local partners in using key tools, ensuring quality of project data while promoting a sustainable MEL approach across the organisation
9.Support cross-learning between departments, including the collation and quality checking of cross-programmatic MEL data
10. Ensure all of SEED’s policies and procedures are evident throughout the work of the department, including those for safeguarding, whistleblowing and anti-corruption, and undertake continual training to ensure these are promoted at all times
11. Other tasks within the broad outline of the role to support the development of MEL capacity across SEED, agreed in partnership with the Senior MEL Officer and Heads of Programmes
Person specification
● Undergraduate degree in International Development, Research Methods, Statistics, or related field
● 1 year of professional experience in an MEL, research or other development role
● Experience in the design, refinement, development and implementation of MEL frameworks for international development and/or community health sectors, with knowledge of logframes
● Experience in participatory approaches to MEL is desirable
● Clear, demonstrable understanding of research ethics
● Demonstrable experience of coordinating and undertaking data collection and analysis, for both qualitative and qualitative data, including proficiency in Excel. Experience using STATA, SPSS or R is desirable
● Knowledge of data collection platforms, such as Kobo, Open Data Kit, or SurveyCTO
●Strong ability and desire to work independently and within teams from different economic and cultural backgrounds and across multiple language barriers, and to build capacity across cultures
● Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to SEED’s ethos and approach and be a good ambassador for SEED at all times
● Demonstrate the ability, social skills and confidence to give clear guidance and support to other members of the team in respect of the philosophy and procedures of SEED in order to protect both their safety and the reputation of the NGO
● Be able to work to and advocate for all of SEED’s policies and procedures, safeguarding those that SEED works with and reporting any concerns appropriately
● Be punctual and be able to work to tight deadlines in an organised manner and to a high standard.

● Fluency in English required, knowledge of French and or Malagasy is desirable

Jail Time Records is a non profit record label producing the music of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated artists from prisons in Cameroon and Burkina Faso. We built the first recording studio inside an African prison in the Central Prison of Douala-Cameroon. Jail Time Records believes that art and creativity can be used as powerful instruments for change, integration and rehabilitation. Incarcerated populations are amongst the most marginalised communities worldwide, and particularly in Africa. The punitive justice system in place does little to help those incarcerated reintegrate into society, and society sees incarceration as a sign of stigma and taboo. In Cameroon's prisons rehabilitation programs are almost inexistent.
We bring cultural activities and programs to one of the most marginalised communities in Cameroon and Burkina Faso, the incarcerated population. Through music and visual arts we stimulate inmates and former inmates to engage positively, find ways to express themselves non violently, and find hope and trust in new ways of being. Through the work of the prisoners that we publish and promote, we help transform the way society sees incarceration.
GRANT WRITER
- Help identify and apply for grants and funds that will help Jail Time Records' sustainability. There is potential for this role to become a full-time paid position in the future.

Our charity delivers a range of awareness campaigns and support services to patients, relatives, partners and carers who have been affected by a poorly understood pain condition; Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). What Will You Be Doing?
- Help increase engagement, improve the number of followers/likes, create & execute a content calendar
- Produce fresh, branded and engaging content for our social media channels
- Prepare graphics and text for sharing across channels
- Engage with our followers and encourage interaction
- Manage and maintain social media channels on a regular basis
- Support charity campaigns, marketing, events and fundraising activities by promoting them on our social media feeds

We are looking for a volunteer who has experience in:
- Different types of marketing and communications media, including electronic and social media
- Writing and editing marketing content for social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn
- Building strategies to increase social media following and /or build fundraising or awareness campaigns
- Developing a coherent brand voice for social media, from content creation to community interactions
- Using and setting up tools such as Buffer, Canva, Tweetdeck etc
- Creating and executing content calendars to help plan social media activity

Introduction to the Partnership Development and Collaboration Lead Role
The Partnership Development and Collaboration Lead is crucial in forging strong connections and building strategic alliances. Key Responsibilities:
Trustee Support:
• Act as the primary liaison between the Board of Trustees and potential partners.
• Advise trustees on partnership opportunities that align with Barawak's strategic direction.

Patient Drivers – Ely & Llanrumney
Patient Drivers support with City Hospice’s day center by transporting patients to and from their homes to our hospice in Whitchurch. Our patients are based across the city and often need support with transport to attend on Monday and Thursday afternoons.
By using your own car to transport our patients, you’ll be enabling them to socialise with other people, receive complementary therapies, and have some much-needed entertainment.
Our patient groups run on a Monday and Thursday between 1:30pm and 3:30pm, with patients coming from across the city. We're particularly interested to hear from prospective volunteers that live in and around Ely and Llanrumney.

Bath Welcomes Refugees (BWR) is seeking a Volunteer who will coordinate the monthly social gathering we hold for Ukrainian refugees. The aims are to offer friendship and support, the opportunity for people who are potentially isolated to come together and to signpost people to services and activities. Volunteers can also help with wider community integration, helping with language development, cultural exchange, local knowledge, etc.
Who we are:
BWR harnesses the goodwill of the community in welcoming and supporting refugees and asylum seekers to thrive in their new community. BWR is a small inclusive charity. Volunteer-led and non-partisan, we help refugee families out of desperate circumstances and into a promising future. Our volunteers provide hands-on support with English-language teaching, resettlement support, helping with our creche and at social events. We also have volunteers who help with employability, DIY, gardening, fundraising and more.
Expectations for this volunteer role include:

Liaising with volunteers and planning the volunteer rota for sessions, in conjunction with the Volunteer Coordinator.

Liaising with the management of the premises as required.

Unlocking and locking up the premises and overseeing setting up at the beginning of sessions and clearing up at the end.

Liaising with representatives of the Ukrainian community to plan activities and publicise events.

Overseeing the provision of drinks, snacks, cooking ingredients and materials which may be required (e.g. for games or crafts).

Allocating volunteers to specific roles or tasks as required (e.g. kitchen, supervising activities with children, registering arrivals).
