BAME Recruitment are pleased to support the LHA London in their search for a Trustee - Social Policy Committee.
About LHA London
LHA London’s purpose as a charity is to provide affordable accommodation for young working people and students new to London. Originally created to give shelter to those made homeless by the Blitz; LHA London has been providing high quality accommodation since 1940.
LHA London now operates 13 Central London hostels providing nearly 2000 bed spaces in the boroughs of Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea, Camden, Southwark, Tower Hamlets and Islington. A structure of 70 paid staff and over 170 volunteers provide support services.
With the retirement of a longstanding Trustee there is the opportunity to join The Board and be a member of the Social Policy Committee. The Committee seeks to understand the needs and expectations of current and potential LHA London residents as well as make recommendations to the Board on the types of accommodation, services and level of fees to be provided in future projects.
The Social Policy Committee also make grant giving recommendations to suitable charities which support the housing needs of vulnerable young people in London and monitor the effectiveness of such grants. The organisations LHA London works with don’t simply provide a roof and a bed, they tackle the underlying causes of homelessness and ensure that young men and women get the right foundations, support and encouragement to realise their potential.
